Albums destined to fail
It has the bad half of Mudvayne producing
|
| |
^^ ha ha so true on "the bad half"
|
| |
i thought the title meant they were disbanding
|
| |
lol @ "nu metal" + "acoustic ep"
why would any nu metal band want to tarnish their sound with a sappy, crappy acoustic album...
|
| |
^ This. Korn showed the world that an acoustic numetal album is a pretty bad idea
|
| |
Same. I thought this was going to say...Nonpoint break up.
|
| |
Yeah me too. I'll throw in Statement every once in awhile or listen to a track or two off of To The Pain or Recoil...but I'm pretty indifferent to Nonpoint these days.
|
| |
Ill Nino #2.
|
| |
yeah...i was so happy upon seeing the news title.
until reading the article.
though bullet with a name was pretty catchy.

Win.
Same. I thought this was going to say...Nonpoint break up.
I wish this was true.
|
| |
their last album was godawful... but their previous albums i used to love. i hope they get back to the progress they made on To The Pain
|
| |
yep, i posted this to give everyone a warning, even though who honestly listens to Nonpoint these days? apparently me
|
| |
"Same. I thought this was going to say...Nonpoint break up."
"I wish this was true"
thats about the stupidest fucking thing i've heard on this site
|
| |
Big call. I've heard that said about 100 times before. Poor Wiz.
|
| |
LOL I was hoping for a break-up announcement to which I would have replied "the band's name speaks for itself"
|
| |
i thought the title meant they were breaking up
|
| |
Ill Nino #2. way to make an idiot out of yourselfSame. I thought this was going to say...Nonpoint break up.
I wish this was true. you make me sad wiz (sad face)
Oh well, I won't bother with this acoustic one, but the new album is probably going to slay and I am pretty darn pumped for it. Nonpoint was, is, and always will be one of the better nu metal bands
|
| |
^^^^
this this this
|
| |
Okay, sorry, they didn't emulate Ill Nino's sound at all. Sorry for your feelings.
|
| |
1) they were around before ill Nino were
2) they are better than Ill nino are/do the latin influenced nu/alt metal better than Ill Nino do
3) they have only 1 bad album
4) better live
there's four valid reasons why Nonpoint > Ill Nino. And no, they didn't emulate Ill Nino's sound.
|
| |
Alright, I was waiting for something like that as a response. I am actually an Ill Nino and Nonpoint fan, I have all their albums, matter of fact. It's not like I'm not educated in nu-metal since that's what I grew up on and progressed further into the weird crap I like now. If you really know Ill Nino and Nonpoint you will realize that after a few successful albums of Ill Nino, Nonpoint changed.
Point 2 and 3 are both the same in this argument, so let's eliminate them because they're opinions. I can't comment on 4 because I haven't seen either live, although I would love too. I was pissed when I missed Ill Nino + Static-X.
Seriously, I like all the bands you like, It's not an outright bash on Nonpoint at all, Just saying.... They're Ill Nino #2. If you can't put past that they seen Ill Nino's success and they wanted to be like them, then I can't argue any further.
|
| |
If you really know Ill Nino and Nonpoint you will realize that after a few successful albums of Ill Nino, Nonpoint changed. I'm guessing under "the change" you mean Nonpoint's Recoil? If so, then I can't really get why you think it was because of Ill Nino. Yes they play a similar style, yes they both incorporate some minor latin influences in their sound, but Recoil was just a normal progression for Nonpoint after Development. It was slighly more poppy and accessible, yet it also had a thicker, crunchier guitar sound and actually even had unexpected surprises, like double bass in the song "The Same" or the Phil Collins cover. Also, crediting the now ex-member Andrew, Nonpoints guitar lines are far more interesting (imo). Ill Nino might convert that anger and teenage angst better into their songs, but Nonpoint's technical side and songwriting trumps Ill Nino (well songwriting is imo, techincal side is more of a fact).
I didn't take your comment all that angrily or anything, I guess I just expressed myself in a rather pissy manner. All I'm saying is that Nonpoint is not Ill Nino #2. They are two similar bands, but both are individual.
|
| |
But both aren't that great lol
|
| |
I'm really diggin' Nonpoint. Like REALLY diggin'. Ill Nino's pretty good too, but I'll take Nonpoint over them any day of the week.
|
| |
Just tryna get a rise out of ya styles, they're all good. Even though Ill Nino's been on a steady decline since their second album
|
| |
I agree with that statement. One Nation Underground is good but not all that special. The new one I didn't really dig. I have high hopes for this new Nonpoint record though. Vengeance was pretty weak (compared to other Nonpoint records, I still pop it in every once in a while), but the guys have understood that themselves (I think), and from their studio updates and such it seems the new album might just slay. Like really.
|
| |
As long as they avoid any Hellyeah influences that is
|
| |
If this will turn out to be like Hellyeah I'm gonna cry
|
| |
I'd keep the tissues handy man, not only is one of the members in Hellyeah look who's producing
|
| |
yeah well, I have enough faith in Nonpoint. I believe they can pull it off. But fuck Hellyeah. Fuck That Project!
|
| |
I saw a review on this from another site a couple of days ago; I think it got a 3 out of 5.
|
| |
you mean the acoustic album or what? I'm sure the acoustic one will be boring. I'm hoping the new LP will slay
|
| |
Yeah my bad. It was the acoustic one.
|
| |
their acoustic songs aren't too bad, i thought the acoustic version of Past It All was decent... but of course, their metaller stuff is betterer
|
| |
This is semi-interesting, probably won't bother though. Gotta thank Styles for re-introducing these guys to me.
|
| |
Past it all is a great song.
|
| |
I'm sad about the reactions here. Clearly, you have not even listened to them Wizard or are just ignorant. The band is the best you can get in NU-metal genre nowadays, i even prefer them to Mudvayne. The acoustic album got 4/5 rating here http://frantikmag.com/blog/2009/11/25/cd-review-nonpoint/ . It will be available only on the internet. But what interests me more is the full lenght album they release in Spring 2010, it's gonna be awesome.
|
| |
The band is the best you can get in NU-metal genre nowadays, I agree with that wholeheartedly. There aren't too many nu metal bands around anymore that are decent, but Nonpoint actually succeed in being even more than decent. They are really really good.
|
| |
I'm pretty sure getting Wizard to listen to some nu-metal these days would be like keeping a dog in a bath (sexual reference).
The only nu-metal I'll be checking out is probably the new Spineshank album, As well as Fear Factory, but they're not really nu-metal... just have hints of it.
|
| |

I stopped after Recoil.

DUDE, calling me ignorant and saying retarded things like this will only make me prove you so wrong.
|
| |
Do it wiz, i'm bored
|
| |
I stopped after Recoil. clearly a mistake there Karl ;)
As for Wizard being ignorant, you guys should look at his ratings or comments or stuff like that because he is possibly the only person on earth with elite music taste who still likes some nu metal
|
| |
Do it wiz, i'm bored
I won't waste my time unless he replies. Does he even know I own the best nu-metal list on this site? HAHAHAHAHA
clearly a mistake there Karl ;)

I wouldn't say my music tastes are elite, I'm just not one of the many users on this site who seem to regress with their elite findings.
|
| |
Does he even know I own the best nu-metal list on this site? your list gets a 4/5 because it has no Nonpoint on it ;)
And well, you may not act like an elite, but I'd say your music taste is pretty elite brah.
|
| |
1.Nonpoint isnt even clsoe to Ill Nino
2.LOL elite tastes in music. I mean, I've run jokes through that on several occasions but people mistake mysense of humor for seriousness. Unfortunately, people take just about everything I say seriously, which couldn't be further from the truth.
3.Wizard wins STFU. It's not like he doesnt make best of nu-metal lists or anything.o.wait
|
| |
Wizard wins STFU it's YOU who needs to STFU. Me and Karl are just having a conversation, if you don't like it, beat it!
|
| |
@Balls. Your first point is quite hilarious.
|
| |
Powerban, all of your points are pointless.
2.LOL elite tastes in music. I mean, I've run jokes through that on several occasions but people mistake mysense of humor for seriousness. Unfortunately, people take just about everything I say seriously, which couldn't be further from the truth.
This is why I love your huge muscles.
|
| |
All points are pointless on this site. Duh.
|
| |
Not when you're Balls, Styles, or myself ; ). And I apologize for being a bit of a dick when I should just let things slide.
|
| |
No problem. I wasn't really offended. I'll admit I've been around this site for about 5 years (2.5 actually registered) and you, balls and styles do know what you're saying most of the time.
I actually remember when Balls and Styles weren't really accepted here with their views, but those days are mostly gone now.
|
| |
That was defintiely 2007 with an early to mid point of 2008. And for good reason. What I meant to say was, Nonpoint's music was never overbearingly Latin or had lyrics as angsty or juvenile as Ill Nino. Dont get me wrong, i love old Nino but they suck now.
|
| |
I actually remember when Balls and Styles weren't really accepted here with their views, but those days are mostly gone now. haha funny you mention that, because I don't quite remeber having any problems fitting in here at all. Sure, when I joined I had like 25% nu metal (yeah I know, impossible) on my charts, but I found friends quickly here and conflated into the community fast.
|
| |
Styles still isn't accepted around here because he's from Estonia ; ).
|
| |
har har har Karl
|
| |
@Styles It was more like I seen a lot of comments of people not liking that you liked so much nu-metal, lol.
@Balls I agree with Ill Nino sucking now, But I'm still not sure if it's because I grew out of them or because they left Roadrunner and went to shit. Not that I'm defending Roadrunner at all, those guys are pricks.
|
| |
Estonia's redeeming point is having acool ass flag.
|
| |
@Styles It was more like I seen a lot of comments of people not liking that you liked so much nu-metal, lol. that may be true hahaEstonia's redeeming point is having acool ass flag. Redeeming? You're talking like there's something bad about being from Estonia haha. Hell no!
|
| |
That entire exchange made my last 10 minutes great.
|
| |
I hope this is a joke...laughs at it.
