Not too bad at all. And I'm sure there will be some extra good acts on subsequent announcements.
|
| |
AFI, HIM, ALEXISONFIRE, TRIVIUM, EAGLES OF DEATH METAL, MESHUGGAH, CLUTCH, ISIS, GALLOWS, THE ALMOST, BARONESS and RX BANDITS.
Fuck yes!
|
| |
Like last year, I haven't had the chance to listen to over half of these bands. But by the time I got through listening to them all, there was more than enough good music to justify the admission price. That's why such an early announcement is great.
|
| |
Good line-up, shame I don't live down under.
|
| |
fucking awesome
im so there
|
| |
Eagles of Death Metal, A Wilhelm Scream, The Devil Wears Prada, Rx Bandits; not too shabby.
|
| |
meh compared too last two years imo.
i'll probably still go mind you, at least for rx bandits and gallows.
theres a lot of bands i'd like to see just for the sake of seeing, but overall theres a lot of crappy ones too
|
| |
A Wilhelm Scream, Alexisonfire, Isis, and Maximum the Hormone?!
Australia... I hate you.
|
| |
come live here, theres plenty of room.
|
| |
sounds like fun
|
| |
I must go to Australia one day.
|
| |
wtf. im moving to Australia. incredible lineup.
|
| |
So happy Sunny Day Real Estate made it on
|
| |
I hate Australia now.
|
| |
This festival always has good, if not great, lineups. It also seems to provide the drive for a lot of bands to get down here. Very excited for this next year.
|
| |
FUCK YES! Reel Big Fish!
|
| |
Damn where are the festivals like this in the states?? Instead we have to put up with all this Grizzly Bear/Ting Tings/Fleet Foxes repeat hipster bs. I'm not usually a big fan of festivals, but if this was near me and reasonably priced, I've have a hard time passing it up.
|
| |
"theres a lot of bands i'd like to see just for the sake of seeing, but overall theres a lot of crappy ones too."
Probably true, but when one considers subsequent announcements + the fact that some of these bands will probably surprise on the day, then it's still worth it I think.
To me, the top 8 is a good enough top bracket. I've been waiting for TBS for a while.
|
| |
Against Miik!, it's about $120 Aussie dollars, which is about $90 U.S or 60 English pounds.
This festival has been pretty strong the last couple of years. As it's not as easy for some of the smaller bands to go all the way to Australia, this festival tends to combine Warped & whatever the major metal festival the States get all in one.
|
| |
wish I lived in australia.
awesome line up.
|
| |
Can anyone inform me/us about some of the lesser known to me, anyway) acts? EG: Maximum The Hormone, Rolo Tomassi, etc...
|
| |
maximum the hormone is basically a quirky japanese nu-metal/metalcore band that does a lot of anime openings.
their pretty fun. not bad musically.
|
| |
90$? Thats not to bad. Hows it work though? Like last year it was held in different cities throughout the week, no? Do different bands play each day? Or does the whole festival move?
|
| |
I think I might just go to the side shows. I have no idea who Meshuggah will play with. Hopefully they play with Isis otherwise they might be billed with Whitechapel or some rubbish.
|
| |
"a lot of anime openings". Does that mean cartoon characters run out on-stage? Hehe.
The whole festival moves around. No-one gets to miss anything. There are only some minor alterations at the New Zealand show I think.
And the price is very good. Put it this way, I just paid the same amount for P!nk's concert, while AC/DC is a full $30 Australian dollars more than this. Last year, I saw 12 bands (pretty much in full) as it runs from about 11am to 10pm.
|
| |
"a lot of anime openings". Does that mean cartoon characters run out on-stage? Hehe.
nope they actually write songs for animes.
|
| |
When is Faith No More coming to the US, what the fuck.
|
| |
A lot of good stuff here.
|
| |
Faith No More, Taking Back Sunday, Sunny Day Real Estate, The Get Up Kids, Clutch, Isis, Gallows, A Wilhelm Scream, Comeback Kid, The Aquabats, Baroness, Rx Bandits.
FK YAH
Needs moar Brand New though.
|
| |
Faith No More!!!, ISIS, Taking Back Sunday, Alexisonfire, Meshuggah, Sunny Day Real Estae, Get up Kids - Hell Yes
|
| |
Yeah, I was really hoping that Brand New were going to be announced. I guess they could do the Big Day Out again, but I was really confident they'd be at Soundwave. Here's hoping for them on the 2nd announcement.
|
| |
When is Faith No More coming to the US, what the fuck.
I've been wondering the same for a while now. They must really not like us.
|
| |
Meshuggah.... fuck yeah.
Are you in Sydney DaveyBoy?
|
| |
Nah, Melbourne.
|
| |
Where-bouts?
|
| |
gay, come to Sydney, you know its going to be better. Are u doing BDO as well?
|
| |
If Brand New and/or Glassjaw are added in the second announcement, I'm going to be going to AT LEAST two.
|
| |
Haha, why would I go to Sydney. Sydney's Soundwave was a schamozzle last year & Melbourne's ran smoothly.
As for Big Day Out, I'm waiting on the line-up. If it's anything like last years, I won't be attending. But I'm expecting them to bounce back a little.
|
| |
your just saying that cause u cant afford a plane ticket to make it to Sydney. Nah, i heard Perth owned last year, especially NIN.
|
| |
Rumors say Muse are headlining BDO according to JJJ. Yeah Perth was the original Soundwave, though I am a Melbourne man as well!
My summer is getting booked with festivals. First Queenscliff Music Fest then Falls then this! Argh cant wait
|
| |
definatley going to this again
the only problem with last year was some major setlist clashing, i had to pick between everytime i die, dillinger, minus the bear or finch it was heartbreaking
|
| |
jesus christ, going to this
|
| |
the only problem with last year was some major setlist clashing, i had to pick between everytime i die, dillinger, minus the bear or finch it was heartbreaking what the fuck, dillinger ofc.
|
| |
It's gotten a bit softer, music-wise then the last two years which had slightly heavier music.
I'd go to see Paramore, HIM, A Day to Remember, The Devil Wears Prada, Maximum the Hormone, It Dies Today, Faith No More, Trivium, Whitechapel and maybe a few more but I don't know a lot of these guys. I'll probably listen to some so I can decide which bands I'll go see on the day.
I'm also hoping they'll announce a few more cool bands, and that none of the bands already going will pull out.
|
| |
Damn, now i wish I lived in Oz even more. I need to see RX bandits and Sunny Day Real Estate more than I need food or water right now.
|
| |
last years is looking better, but hopefully better bands will come on board later.
That being said, I still have a full days worth of bands I'd want to see, just not of bands I REALLY want to see.
|
| |
Well summed up Tom... Although, I've been wanting to see Taking Back Sunday for quite some time now.
|
| |
anyone from perth can meet up with me and dance in the sprinklers
|
| |
totally goin to perth now
|
| |
see you guys there eh
|
| |
the only problem with last year was some major setlist clashing, i had to pick between everytime i die, dillinger, minus the bear or finch it was heartbreaking
I saw a completely different band in that time slot (I hadn't heard those bands before then). I'm glad I hadn't tbh, it saved me making and impossible decision.
|
| |
Yeah, I saw someone else too... Although I must have had 5 minutes up my sleeve as I remember getting blown away by Dillinger's first 30 seconds. In this case, I mean LITERALLY blown away, as in the volume pushed me back metres!
|
| |
Yeah, I wouldn't go there for any info on bands, that's for certain.
|
| |
Haha, yeah. Although, I think the RJA comment is a running joke as they pulled out the year before.
Speaking of, I would have thought In This Moment would have been there since they pulled out last time around.
|
| |
omg i have to go!!
|
| |
Holy shit, The Weakerthans, finally.
|
| |
oh man this lineup is so good
|
| |
Who's mainly taking your fancy Billy?
I went through all of the bands I didn't know last night & got information on them. I now know that Aaron Gilespie has a side-project & that there is a band of superheroes. The Aquabats look cool!
|
| |
To me, Reel Big Fish is my favourite act. You should check them out Davey. (SEE MY REVIEWS)
Other then RBF it's: Isis, Alexisonfire, Paramore and Rx Bandits
That will take up my day I'd say.
|
| |
wow... nice lineup
sunny day real estate ftw
|
| |
Yeah, I will be doing so Dougie. I caught Less Than Jake earlier this year after being only so-so when listening to their albums. But they were huge fun live & one of the top bands of the day surprisingly. So Reel Big Fish are definitely in the running if they don't clash with anyone. Hopefully, they are on early like LTJ as it's a very good way to get the day off to a fun & energetic start.
Sunny Day Real Estate, The Weakerthans & The Get Up Kids are the real wild-cards of this bill.
|
| |
Reel Big Fish, were my favourite band growing up. I have never ever had a chance to catch them live so I am ecstatic! Less Than Jake are fun live, but hell listening to RBF's live album, they sound incredible fun and sound wise live also.
|
| |
Then don't miss them this time around Dougie. You'll kick yourself.
Hey, please answer me a question on RX Bandits. Should I simply begin with their new album & work slowly back? Or should I start at their 2nd or 3rd most recent & work up to Mandala? I don't really want to start at the beginning as it sounds like they have changed way too much over the years.
|
| |
I still need to check out the bands I don't know but atm my list is:
Gallows, Anti-Flag, Whilhelm Scream, Paramore, Alexisonfire...I know Jane's Addiction and Faith No More are meant to be excellent as well.
|
| |
I've still been puttin off buyin Gallows' cd.
|
| |
Completely agree Davey... Can't miss it this time.
Yea start with the latest offering and work your way back. It's the way I did it.
|
| |
Thanks Dougie.
Hey Tom, in relation to Gallows, are (a) Anti-Flag and (b) A Wilhelm Scream less or more accessible/melodic than Gallows?
Make Comeback Kid (c) if you have heard them...
|
| |
Never heard them.
Anti-Flag are more standard punk, but don't touch their new albums. Their best release was probably For Blood and Empire. A Wilhelm Scream is also more punk than hardcore.
|
| |
AQUABATS FTW!
|
| |
Is that their Superhero chant Nikkolae?
|
| |
Has anyone heard anthing about Closure in Moscow or is that just a rumour? Because if they were playing that would probably consolidate my purchase of a ticket.
Hoping theres something good in the second announcement.
|
| |
I definitely heard Closure In Moscow's name being thrown around, but I think it was just rumour.
BUT remember that no Aussie acts were promoted for Soundwave at all last time around. 2-3 of them simply played opening sets after being announced in the week before the event. Now whether CiM is too big for such a position would be arguable.
It is definitely interesting that the promoter has basically gone out of their way to have no promoted Aussie acts. I'm unsure why, as if the band fits the sound, then why not. Could have something to do with BDO I guess.
|
| |
Australia rocks, but these bands do nothing for me exept the odd one or two. Last year had some good ones, from memory Offspring were down here
|
| |
TICKETS PURCHASED.
Now, to wait the.... 6 months!!!
(Davey prays for Brand New to be on the 2nd announcement)
|
| |
Taylor, just note that they are on sale at MIDNIGHT, not 9am. Many people have been caught out thus far & the early birds are not lasting much longer tha a day so far.
|
| |
Definitely midnight Taylor. I go mine at 5 past 12 last night & the early bird tickets sold out at 9:15am this morning.
Note that it's midnight TONIGHT for you.
Sorry, I know that's fairly obvious. Just making sure as if you go on midnight tomorrow night, you will have to pay $30 more.
|
| |
Basically. They have set aside a certain number of tickets as discounted price early birds. Whenever they run out, the price increases.
Oh & one more thing, I think you have to be a registered user of their website, so head on over just to make certain you are.
|
| |
I've heard rumours that the full priced tickets will be $170 dollars. 150 + 20 for something or another. But either way, 150 is probably more than I can afford for a festival I'm only so-so about this time around.
Which sucks because it would still be fun. Fucking MCR fags selling out early bird tickets within a matter of hours. They lasted for weeks last year.
|
| |
Yeah, it would be close to $170 Tom.
My $121 early birds basically ended up being $134. There is no print at home option, so you gotta pay for registered post.
|
| |
Gaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay. I want this years Soundwave back =/
|
| |
Yeah, changing the distributor to OzTix was apparently the problem.
|
| |
Hoping for Closure In Moscow, Thrice, Mastodon, Mew (it will never happen but) for the second line up.
|
| |
Good to hear you'll be there Taylor. It would have been cheaper if you got 2 tickets (as I thought you were) to save on postage.
You're dreaming CrackTheSkye. However, all 3 of those bands have to be soem kind of chance for the Big Day Out.
|
| |
Closure will defs be at Soundwave.
Mastodon and Mew should be here for the BDO.
|
| |
Yeah can see Mastodon playing late arvo on mainstage BDO.
Given how much you guys are saying the tickets are gunna be, i might just go to a few sidewaves instead. Particularly Isis and CIM
|
| |
I just paid 300 bucks for Pyramid tickets arghh! Gonna be swell though!
|
| |
Nothing wrong with dreaming DaveyBoy, but I guess I'll have to get a BDO ticket...
|
| |
"Closure will defs be at Soundwave." This is coming from the man who told me there wouldn't be a Soundwave at all this summer!
"I just paid 300 bucks for Pyramid" Good god. I know it's a fun weekend and you have to pay for non-music stuff, but the line-up doesn't justify it.
"you know women, can't do math unless they're witches." Triple LOL.
|
| |
Really? I thought the line up looks pretty good compared to Falls this year, screw the free tickets.
|
| |
Isis+RBF=Win. You lucky Aussies.
|
| |
Hoping for less then 40 degrees at Brisbane next year. Really sucked the fun out of the Underoath and DEP pits.
|
| |
... & the dust.
|
| |
Ahh, gotta love not burning very easily. I just got a tan about 4 layers of skin deep. xD
|
| |
You African?
|
| |
Haha, believe or not I'm a first gen aussie...before that it's all English. It makes no sense.
|
| |
Line up doesn't really phase me.
|
| |
because you like shit music
|
| |
Lineup rules so much actually.
Speaking of festivals and being hot. Nothing will beat Cog at BDO earlier this year, never sweated so much in my life.
|
| |
"because you like shit music"
gtfo.
|
| |
ehhh, pyramid sounds more fun.
|
| |
but pyramid is $300 no chance im paying that much to go to a festival.
|
| |
but billy it's like 3 days of booze and chicks
so i've heard anyway
|
| |
exactly! the line up for soundwave isn't really appealing to me either, lots of average metalcore i'd have to put up with.
|
| |
Lol, Alligator got owned again.
Soundwave will rule. So will Sunset Sounds.
|
| |
yeah but the beer is expensive as, plus theres only 3/4 bands i actually like at pyramid which i can see for about $40 total elsewhere.
|
| |
my friends smuggled spirits into pryramid inside loaves of bread. plus vodka can be disguised as water in an eski. you can't smell and it doesn't freeze! it'll just taste a bit shit
i need a segment on better homes and gardens with tips like this
|
| |
That said, Sunny Day Real Estate, Alexisonfire, Taking Back Sunday, Reel Big Fish, Gallows, A Wilhelm Scream, The Aquabats and Rx Bandits will all rule live.
|
| |
yeah but the beer is expensive as
Who fucking cares? Drinking (at festivals) is for losers
|
| |
"i need a segment on better homes and gardens with tips like thisi need a segment on better homes and gardens with tips like this"
haha definitley.
"Who fucking cares? Drinking (at festivals) is for losers"
yeah true. they're always bogans.
|
| |
Oy!
Hang on, did Croc & DavID just agree? You straight-edge people sicken me.
|
| |
There's nothing wrong with drinking at festivals, I'd imagine being in a pit would be a whole lot more fun if you were a little drunk.
|
| |
Seriously, I know what they're getting at. I saw some guys at last years Soundwave in the bar for hours on end. I would have liked to have had a couple of more drinks mself, but there was hardly any time & I would have skipped parts of sets if I did so. No way I was going to do that after paying $100+.
|
| |
Well yeah, I mean spending $140 to drink inside of a cage is stupid, but if there's a big enough gap between bands you want to see you might as well get yourself a drink or two.
|
| |
git crunk and fugged up
|
| |
"People who get drunk..."
"You wanna drink..."
2 separate things. I enjoy a drink at gigs, but don't want to get drunk.
|
| |
yeah i'm like that. i like to have a few drinks to take the edge off, but getting shitfaced is for the birds.
the fact that alcohol is usually expensive as makes it easier.
|
| |
SECOND ANNOUNCEMENT LEAKS: Enter Shikari and Closure In Moscow.
laaaaaaaame, was hoping for some good bands (CiM are alright I spose), here's still hoping for Brand New.
Oh, and apparently there's going to be a fifth stage as well.
|
| |
Ooh, is this still all rumour?
If there is indeed a 5th stage, then there may be more than 3-5 bands on the 2nd announcement. Here's hoping.
Enter Shikari were always a big chance if that is true. But yeah, I'm still hoping Brand New make this festival or the Big Day Out.
Speaking of the bdo, one rumour that surprised me was the return of Rise Against after only playing here in March!
|
| |
RA won't come back. ES and CIM are more than welcome.
Also Champ Kind do you wear your suit and hat to festivals or are you in casual CK clothing.
|
| |
Yeah, it surprised me whan I saw it mentioned about RA DavID. Who knows though.
As for attire at music festivals, please don't under-state it. A suit is just a name for a cheap tuxedo. I even get my butler Jeeves to do my moshing for me.
|
| |
I have festival shorts with cargo pockets. They work a charm.
|
| |
Ditto actually.
|
| |
Got any mawsh pics
|
| |
Underoath came back after being here in September last year, so it could be possible. If they were on BDO I think I’d have to go.
|
| |
Jeeves doesn't allow pics to be taken of him.
Muse & Rise Against at the same festival is like.... Ahhh, I don't even want to build my hopes up.
|
| |
davey get jeeves to start up a facebook account for you ASAP
|
| |
Jeeves does not like to be poked or super-poked.
|

RELATED REVIEWS
Heaven and Hell.
Um, WTF?
|
| |
MCRRRRRR!!!
|
| |
Yeah, I noticed that related review earlier today. No idea why it's there.
|
| |
I though t it was obvious, Heaven and Hell are playing Soundwave.
|
| |
Careful, someone will take your comment as an "official" leak.
|
| |
Yes, because some kid on an internet site is a reliable source. Wouldn’t surprise me however.
|
| |
Dates for the big announcements are:
Tuesday Sept-29: Big Day Out 1st announcement.
Tuesday Oct-6: Soundwave 2nd announcement.
|
| |
"2 separate things. I enjoy a drink at gigs, but don't want to get drunk."
Yeah that's basically it. I remember at Judas Priest everyone was enjoying the gig and these two huge shirtless sweaty fat blokes pissed out of their minds started pushing people around and knocked one chick flying. Can't stand those sort of concert goers.
|
| |
how much do bdo tickets generally cost?
|
| |
they were 140 last year i think.
|
| |
Sweet. If they're cheaper than Soundwave, I'll probably try to nab a ticket...although I hear they sell out ridiculously fast.
|
| |
Yeah, I'd say at least add another $10 this year.
It's why i was a little surprised that Soundwave increased their standard price this year, as I would have thought they would have wanted to stay under bdo.
|
| |
Heard on the JJJ today, Muse as good as confirmed BDO.
On prices, wouldnt be surprised if bdo prices rose. Melbourne didn't sell out last year so you never know. Think im gunna go to both.
|
| |
And Blink 182 for BDO
|
| |
soundwave will fucking slay bdo
|
| |
true true
|
| |
whoops
|
| |
Line up is good I'd love to see meshuggah scare the shit outta all the little scenesters hanging around....
|
| |
they'll probably open with Bleed, and yes, there will be pant shitting
|
| |
I hate not having a job. well, i like it in some degrees, but i don't like not having the money to go to festivals willy nilly.
|
| |
Yeah, it seems likely that Muse will indeed be at BDO, but the big question is whether or not they will be headliners!?
|
| |
I hope not, Davey. Since Muse come here like every 2 years anyway, it hasnt got the wow factor that others have had like Neil Young and RATM.
|
| |
Whens the second announcment.
|
| |
"it hasnt got the wow factor that others have had like Neil Young and RATM."
Neil Young had wow factor?...
I'm probably gonna go to my first BDO, hell first festival if muse and a couple of other rumours iv'e heard are playing...
|
| |
You're kidding right? He's a musical legend.
|
| |
I couldn't care less about muse playing, so this is already looking disappointing.
|
| |
"You're kidding right? He's a musical legend."
I agree he is, but for the crowd this festival is aimed at (14 - 25 yr olds) Neil Young isn't near the top of their lists, hell when did he have his last 'hit'?
|
| |
BDO is pretty much aimed at Triple Jers though, most of whom are more than aware of Neil Young and most probably love him.
|
| |
^ omg.
|
| |
Really? I thought Soundwave was more the JJJ crowd? meh, I'm just gonna shut up.
|
| |
Yeah, no.
|
| |
Nah croc, Soundwave is basically metal/hardcore with a few alternative rock bands chucked in.
|
| |
Oh ok cheers, I go to heaps of concerts but am yet to go to an actual festival...
|
| |
A lot of scene kids love Soundwave, which is an epic fail.
|
| |
That's because alot of scene bands play at Soundwave.
|
| |
Which is also an epic fail.
|
| |
So dont go see the scene bands?
|
| |
What? (dumb response)
Escape The Fate is pretty much a no go.
|
| |
Croc, I'd say definitely go to one of these two this summer. Just don't dilly dally too much on getting tickets as (especially bdo) could sell out.
BDO headline rumours are:
- Muse
- Radiohead
- Blur
- Blink 182
- Eminem!!!
I think there's one more that I have forgotten.
|
| |
No idea about headliners, but Silversun Pickups, Mastodon, Gossip, Karnivool and perhaps Empire Of The Sun would sell me in terms of the undercard.
|
| |
I'd go for Blink and Radiohead. And Karnivool sure...
|
| |
Eminem won't headline BDO I don't think. So far it's looking to be Muse, blink-182, Calvin Harris, Dizzee Rascal, Groove Armada, Mastodon, Lily Allen, Kasabian and Passion Pit as the almost definite pretty decently sized acts.
|
| |
Oh, and The Mars Volta.
|
| |
Add Placebo me thinks.
|
| |
Anyone who seriously thinks Radiohead is coming is an idiot.
|
| |
darn you daveyboy
|
| |
Really hope Kasabian don't come, I hate those cunts
|
| |
Why are you darning me Tom?
|
| |
alliteration apparently
|
| |
he got my hopes up about radiohead being there.
|
| |
You can't be serious. Them and Weezer get rumoured every fucking year.
|
| |
I've never actually paid attention to BDO before now.
|
| |
Karnivool are basically certainties. Muse, after Bellamy's JJJ interview are basically confirmed. Wouldn't be surprised if Blink play, either.
|
| |
"You can't be serious. Them and Weezer get rumoured every fucking year."
Agreed 100 % dude. The Who are rumoured every year too, it's hillarious.
Karnivool? Would love to see them and same with Muse who I guess are more or less confirmed. I wouldn't be suprised if Blink play but I heard somewhere Travis ain't happy with flying...
They could arrive via boat!
|
| |
Sorry Tom. Just passing on rumours mate.
And yeah, I would like to see Karnivool play BDO (or Soundwave for that matter).
Then I can take a big banner that reads "BIRDS OF TOKYO > KARNIVOOL"
:-)
|
| |
And then I could gutter stomp you
:-)
|
| |
haha I'm pretty sure the whole crowd would gutter stomp him.
:-)
|
| |
Hehe. I was waiting for those kinds of comments.
So how many songs could Karnivool squeeze into a festival set anyway? 2 or 3 maybe...
|
| |
200 Gutter Stomping comments
Haha Davey shhhhhh
|
| |
Lol Davey, i think you'd get mauled by the 'vool army if you did that.
201
|
| |
Champ Kind is an ignorant dick when he wants to be.
|
| |
Nah, just a shit-stirrer. It's fun.
|
| |
The smell generally puts me off.
|
| |
It's all in the method of stirring.
I took a course by some guy named David Young. He is the guru on the subject.
|
| |
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/David_Young_(Canadian_playwright)
|
| |
Ahh, now we know why you bothered to tell us your middle name. We wouldn't want to think you wrote plays... or was Canadian.
|
| |
Great singer though...
|
| |
Too many David Youngs + not enough time = I GOT MY TICKET
|
| |
I got early birds.
|
| |
I got early birds too.
|
| |
Did you have to pay? Seeing how you’re God.
|
| |
I did not pay, I simply donated to a charity. It's tax-deductible, isn't it? Haha
I was just reading a review with Jesse Lacey. He mentions Brand New are likely to be in Oz some time in 2010, but is fairly vague about when. I think they have a gig in London in January though, so that would make the BDO difficult. But I'm still holding out (fading) hope for the 2nd announcement of Soundwave. They'd be a great addition.
|
| |
Yeah it’s tax-deductible.
Having only heard Daisy, I don’t have much to say on them. Although it was a good album.
|
| |
Wait...you're on SPUTNIK and haven't listened to The Devil and God? What the fuck...
|
| |
Yeah, your point?
|
| |
Go do it now.
Okay, if Brand New come for soundwave I may feel compelled to go after all. But hopefully they'll do shows outside of it...but dammit, I wanted to see Gallows gig.
|
| |
http://twitter.com/soundwave2010
If that is really him, he keeps saying Blink ain’t coming till 2011 which sounds like bullshit.
|
| |
CrackTheSkye, I definitely recommend giving both Brand New's 'Deja Entendu' & 'The Devil & God...' a listen. I prefer the former.
And I had seen that about Blink. Interesting. I guess we'll find out soon enough as it is only 9 days until the first announcement for BDO.
|
| |
Okay then, will do.
I’m not much of a Blink fan so it doesn’t really bother me, but I’d check them out if they were playing.
|
| |
That is actually AJ, and he's often right about this sort of thing.
|
| |
Yeah, he'd have no reason to make it up, so I'm certain he believes it. Could he have been mislead though? That is another question!
|
| |
And if he's wrong he'll just say WELL I GUESS THIS IS GROWING UP
|
| |
^^^ Haha. I'll pay that.
Another interesting note is that AJ revealed that there are 24,000 tickets in total being sold for Melbourne. Of those, already 18,000 are gone. Great to hear the festival is becoming genuinely successful.
|
| |
Apart from Brand New, Enter Shikari and Closure In Moscow. Who do you think will be on the 2nd announcement?
|
| |
I never said Brand New would be on there. I was hoping like hell.
Well, AJ said there would be another 2008 SW band on there. I'd be hoping for Saosin or Thursday, but I doubt that. Could be anyone really. There were a few other rumours like The Rocket Summer & Hit The Lights that didn't eventuate, so they'd be a chance.
|
| |
He said Saosin is a chance but not a big one.
|
| |
I would doubt they would be back so quickly, but they have just released a new album, so it's a chance.
|
| |
oh you can buy tickets now brb
|
| |
Get with it Spare.
|
| |
Decided im just doing Sidewaves this year. Isis better bloody play one.
|
| |
Sidewave or Sidewaves?
If it's the latter, it may cost just as much as the festival itself.
|
| |
Maximum the hormone seriously? I gotta go for sure now.
|
| |
I got tickets to the Brissy show, but i live closer to Sydney. Good decision?
you decide
|
| |
Ahhh, make a trip of it. It should be a nice 40 degrees or so in Brissy come February.
|
| |
Yeah road trip with a few mates sounds good. I just heard that the Sydney is too cluttered and chaotic.
|
| |
Will probs just do Isis Sidewave, Davey. Not sure if i can afford an actual Soundwave ticket, which kinda sucks.
|
| |
idk whether to go to more than one because it'll cost me a shitload and i'd probably go to them alone (aside from perth obv)
hoping the repeat band from last year is the fall of troy and that protest the hero make it on the bill as well
|
| |
Yeah Mordecai, apparently Sydney was a bit of a disaster last year, but you'd hope the promoters would learn from their mistakes.
Fair enough Billy. Hope for some good supports to Isis on that Sidewave & that should keep you happy.
Going by the forums it sounds like many people go to more than one Soundwave. I guess it's mainly people NOT from Melb or Syd though. If anything, I'd just throw a Sidewave in.
The Fall of Troy would have to be a chance.
|
| |
Brisbane was good last year, (apart from the heat) took about 30 minutes to get in and everything was sweet, except for 2 of the stage being on concrete.
|
| |
How did the stages being on concrete hamper the experience if you don't mind me asking?
|
| |
It didn’t really, but apart from the heat that was the worst thing.
|
| |
"How did the stages being on concrete hamper the experience if you don't mind me asking?"
It hurts more when you fall in the pit!
Actually, it can also have acoustic consequences.
|
| |
Grass>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Concrete
|
| |
I thought you were straight-edge DavID! :-)
|
| |
Ahh i understand, i thought you meant concrete just under the stage, not in front if it. Ouch. Grass > concrete indeed.
|
| |
Champ Kind smokes concrete
|
| |
Yeh he would. Straight edge is so 2008.
|
| |
going to the brisbane show now. who else is gonna be there?
|
| |
Yeah. At least they were smart enough to not put the metal stage on it.
|
| |
Melbourne was pretty much a dustbowl last year, but it wasn't too bad.
Some of the indoor stages had rather poor acoustics too as they weren't much more than tin sheds. At least there will be one les of those this upcoming summer.
|
| |
Parts of the metal stage, and whatever stage had the Riverboat Gamblers, turned to mud after a while which was a bit of a downer, but it wasn’t to bad.
|
| |
There are some festival-goers who require mud to be existent before they classify it a festival.
|
| |
Does that include you?
|
| |
Mud and festivals go together, its a given.
|
| |
Yeah, they fucked up with the entrances at Sydney last year, but apparently they did it the year before as well so I wouldn't bank on them learning. They only had two and EVERYONE was being directed into just one, people fainted in the line (which was more of a massive crush) etc. I waited about 2 or 3 hours in line. Some people waited more, it was insane.
Then apparently they ran out of beer before the headlining acts.
|
| |
good thing i'm not going to sydney anymore
|
| |
"Does that include you?" Not at all. I'm with you CTS.
Ahhh, that's right. I couldn't recall who it was that got really screwed around in Sydney. It was you Tom. I remember you not being a happy camper at all.
|
| |
Yeah, sucked majorly. Missed out on All That Remains and Unearth. gragh.
|
| |
Let's just hope they get it right this year... At all venues.
|
| |
Any of youse see the BDO stuff on Last fm?
|
| |
Perth has been awesome both years imo. Bit hot but meh.
|
| |
"Any of youse see the BDO stuff on Last fm?"
Please explain...
BTW, I think I saw an ad on Channel V saying they (along with fasterlouder.com) will be officially announcing the 1st line-up of BDO at midnight tomorrow night.
|
| |
Yeah CTS what are you on about
|
| |
Oh, okay then. Someone put a line up on there, more then likely fake.
http://www.last.fm/event/1206264+Big+Day+Out+2010
|
| |
BOWIE HAHAHAHAHAHA
|
| |
Yeah, the Bowie rumours have been around for a week or so. Triple M actually ran with it as a story. I doubt it, but who knows.
|
| |
There are rumours of Paul McCartney playing as well.
|
| |
This is getting really silly. Lees and West need to shut this shit down immediately.
|
| |
"Lees and West need to shut this shit down immediately."
Sort of like what they did to their forums. :-)
|
| |
i see you made an account on the soundwave forums davey
|
| |
Yeah, that's me. I initially made it just to ensure that I could get tickets. But thought I'd ask about Taking Back Sunday.
|
| |
Triple J at midnight people!
JJJ have been saying all day that the last.fm lineup is fake.
|
| |
Website says: Want to know who is actually playing? Tune into Robbie, Marieke and The Doctor tomorrow from 6am to hear the real Big Day Out 2010 line up announcement!
* http://www.abc.net.au/triplej/musicnews/s2698339.htm
|
| |
Channel V (& I think fasterlouder.com) at midnight.
Channel V are just about to start a 90 minute 'Best Of' previous BDOs.
|
| |
Yeah but they're announcing it at midnight as well (only cos channel V is doing the same thing)
http://www.facebook.com/search/?q=triple+j&init=quick#/pages/triple-j/24192670159?ref=search&sid=548603061.3890860744..1
In one of the statuses, "Dizzie Rascal just let slip to Dools that he will be playing at Big Day Out! Keep listening for the rest of the official line up!"
|
| |
Oh yeah: triple j's Hau will be announcing the official Big Day Out 2010 line up at MIDNIGHT tonight! Then there will be an interview with the headline act during the breakfast show tomorrow morning. Stay tuned!
|
| |
The bottom line is we will know come ten past twelve.
Who wants to do the posting of the line-up?
|
| |
I call it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
|
| |
All yours William. Just don't screw it up... & remember if it says Karnivool, it really means Ian is going to turn on them pro-wrestling style & bring out Birds of Tokyo
|
| |
If it says 'vool...... C'mon we all know they're a certainty.
|
| |
I can just see your news post if they're not on there... It will end with one big expletive & a threatening message to the promoters.
|
| |
Its quarter past 11, may as well stay up for the announcement!
|
| |
Ditto.
RUMOUR ALERT: Def Leppard are on the bill.
|
| |
pffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffft Davey.
|
| |
CONFIRMED ALERT: Jim Beam is strong.
I'm starting to chant now: "We want Muse... We want Muse... We want Muse..."
I actally listened to 'The Resistance' for the 1st time today. After the 4th song, I felt like I had heard enough content, ideas & instruments for an entire album.
|
| |
I really wanna see Muse live though.
|
| |
Muse will be there methinks. Hopefully they're not headliners though
|
| |
“CONFIRMED ALERT: Jim Beam is strong.”
It’s also a very poor tasting drink.
|
| |
Yeah, I'm not a huge fan of it CTS. But it's been in my bar for a while now & all the Bundy red is gone.
|
| |
Woo Bundy, yeah, woo!
As you have probably picked up I live there.
|
| |
GUYS CHECK OUT THE BDO WEBSITE!!!
MUSE, RISE AGAINST, GRINSPOON, KARNIVOOL!
looks like i'll have to go to my first big day out.
|
| |
Muse, Powderfinger, Lily Allen, Eskimo Joe, Groove Armada, Grinspoon, The Mars Volta, Ladyhawke, Dizzee Rascal, Karnivool, Peaches, The Temper Trap, Kasabian, Midnight Juggernauts, Rise Against, Magic Dirt, Mastodon, Lisa Mitchell, The Hor...rors, Bluejuice, Calvin Harris, Kisschasy, The Decemberists, Tame Impala & Girl Talk
|
| |
Rise Against should be higher on the lineup. It's an outrage.
|
| |
2nd announcement is 13th of October.
|
| |
I presume you are talking about SoundWave CTS?
|
| |
Yeah, if it was BDO I would post it there.
|
| |
Makes sense.
I'd love for Brand New & Fightstar to be included on the 2nd announcement.
I think I've given up on Jimmy Eat World & Weezer.
|
| |
I like the way you think Davey, mainly about Fightstar as I haven’t given Brand New enough listens to judge how good they are.
I wonder if Thrice could be on Soundwave or maybe they're being saved for BDO second announcement, or maybe I’m just dumb and don’t know when they finish touring America/Europe.
|
| |
Jim Beam is pretty shit. Wild Turkey is the best bourban I've had.
|
| |
For some reason CTS, I haven't really considered Thrice for this summer. No real reason, but they could be touring.
I've been listening to Fightstar's discog a lot of late. There's some real moments of genius amongst their albums. I don't think they've even toured down under full stop.
And Tom, tbh, I don't like bourbon at all. Rum, then scotch for me.
|
| |
They toured once; I think it was 2005 maybe 2006 with Funeral For A Friend.
As long as Thrice come I’ll be happy. I’ve only just started listening to them, and they’re quickly becoming one of my favourite bands.
|
| |
I'm hoping for City & Colour and Dananananaykroyd
|
| |
That would be awesome too.
|
| |
Righteo CTS. I didn't go to the FFAF 'Hours' tour unfortunately. That would have been cool.
Oh yeah, Dananana have go to be a chance after the injury incident a few weeks back. As for C & C, well that will depend on Dallas. I'd love to see him open a stage at 11:30am'ish though, before AIOF hit the main stage later in the day.
|
| |
Thrice aren't coming. Fact.
|
| |
What's that about the band named Fact?
|
| |
HORSE the band would be a good Soundwave band. If only...
|
| |
Weren't they on it earlier this year?
|
| |
Yeah they played this year.
http://www.myspace.com/factjapan
All you have ever wanted to know about "Fact" right there Davey.
|
| |
Haha. I hope you know I was kidding. Just my poor attempt at humour I guess.
|
| |
Yeah, I know. I just thought I’d be a smart-arse.
|
| |
Taken from the Soundwave Twitter.
"We have a very special announcement tomorrow....stay tuned."
"The announcement will be late tomorrow morning so no need to stay up until midnight guys"
|
| |
Oooh, that AJ knows how to get people excited... But thankfully he isn't making me stay up until midnight this time!
Care to take a guess CTS?
|
| |
Mordecai will be attending Soundwave. That is the announcement.
|
| |
Hmm, maybe someone on the second line up? Other then that I have no idea.
What do you think Davey?
|
| |
No, because they played this year.
|
| |
Mordecai, you can attend... as you long as you stay 100 metres away from me. I have taken out a restraining order after your previous comment on the AFI news thread.
CTS, I'm guessing it may be an act being added to the 2nd announcement, but because the official announcement is a week away, I'm guessing it's a half-half one. That, to me, means it will be ... (insert drum roll here) City & Colour.
|
| |
That would be a possibility. One that I would like as well.
|
| |
Hey, I just went to the SW Twitter page & what you wrote is not there. Am I missing something?
|
| |
http://twitter.com/soundwavefest
That one?
|
| |
Dude don't mess with Davey's emotions, he bottles everything up and something like that will make him snap, killing all in his path which sucks.
|
| |
Bugger has 2 going. I had: http://twitter.com/soundwave2010
Don't make me snap... Or else I might have to visit the metal stage...
|
| |
so guys why is there a mars volta and brand new album in the related reviews
|
| |
Who the hell knows... Unless Sputnik knows whos on the 2nd announcement.
Maybe it picks up key words from comments & I mentioned Brand New somewhere along the way.
|
| |
if brand new and the mars volta are on the second announcement i will explode
|
| |
Umm, Mars Volta won't be... Since they're at the Big Day Out.
|
| |
How is this thread still ongoing?
|
| |
I started it.
Haha. Just kidding. TBH, I think the way the promoter has spaced things out has been really clever. Put it this way, the festival is still 5 months away. The main line-up has been announced, the 2nd line-up announcement is 6 days away & by the end of October, we apparently will have completed timetables! What other festival does so much so early?
|
| |
"There will be an old school metal band in the next announcement! #soundwavehint"
"one of the bands is a headliner #soundwavehint"
A lot of people on the Soundwave forums and “twitter hints” are saying Hatebreed, Throwdown, Motion City Soundtrack, Enter Shikari, Set Your Goals, Placebo, Closure In Moscow and Anthrax, because Soundwave had pages for them or something like that.
|
| |
Oh and she said that an Aussie band will be playing as well.
|
| |
Woah. What?! Since when does Soundwave allow aussie bands to play?!
|
| |
If that is the 2nd line-up additions, that would make a strong bill even stronger. Placebo would be a real coup since they were heavily rumoured for Big Day Out, CiMoscow would be great, while 3 or 4 of those others would also be solid additions & not bad to see if they land in a weak timeslot.
|
| |
If you match that girls tweets to the “leaked” line up:
Headliner = Placebo
Old School Metal Band = Anthrax
Aussie Band = Closure In Moscow
AJ said that a 2008 band would be playing as well which would be Motion City Soundtrack.
Looks like some people screwed up because Hatebreed are in the UK then.
|
| |
Well, as long as those others are correct, Hatebreed (or Throwdown) can be wrong.
I'm really liking my first listen of Closure In Moscow.
|
| |
Hatebreed would be fucking sick.
|
| |
I’m really hoping that isn’t the 2nd line up. Closure In Moscow are the only band I like on it.
First Temple or The Penance And The Patience?
|
| |
CTS don't be dick; all those bands have good stuff
|
| |
Throwdown are okay, and Hatebreed are in the UK then so that rules them out. The rest I could care less for. Especially Enter Shikari.
|
| |
"First Temple or The Penance And The Patience?" BOTH! 'FT' is better overall though.
Yeah CTS, stop bein a dick... That's Atavan's job! LOL. But seriously, I've seen Placebo live & they're really good... A lot punkier than their albums. MCS are a solid pop-punk band. If you fluke Enter Shikari while they're playing "Sorry You're Not A Winner", that would be a bonus. Haha.
Plus, you don't want too many great bands as timetable clashes will give you a migraine.
|
| |
Yeah, I agree with that.
First Temple is in my top 10 of '09 right now.
"Yeah CTS, stop bein a dick... That's Atavan's job! LOL."
I knew you were going to say that Davey.
Hopefully it turns out like this year and I only get 1 clash.
|
| |
I can't even remember the clashes of January because once a decision is made, there's no point trying to recall who you could have seen.
From memory, Moneen were on against Anberlin. Apart from that, I don't recall the cards I mucked so to speak.
|
| |
looking forward to coachella
|
| |
"There will be an old school metal band in the next announcement"
If you guys get somebody super cool i'm gonna be jealous!
|
| |
Every Time I Die and The Dillinger Escape Plan clashed for me. Well, I got to see 15 minutes of ETID before TDEP came on.
|
| |
I got to see 20 seconds of TDEP before my head exploded!
|
| |
i love TDEP
|
| |
YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!MY CHEMICAL ROMANCE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
|
| |
Yeah, you're supposed to say YES!!!!!! Hayley Williams!!!! Woooo Hooooo!!!
|
| |
lol I really wish paramore were playing big day out instead :P
|
| |
There's still tickets left Croc... Sell your body.
|
| |
yeah the second announcement fucking sucks compared to last year's
|
| |
You got excited as soon as you saw Forever The Sickest Kids, didn't you Transient?
|
| |
Who are you seeing on Soundwave next year Davey?
|
| |
I'll probably be sticking to the main stage for most of the day. But pending timetable clashes, the main 6 will be TBSunday, AIOFire, AFI, Paramore, MCR, FNM. The great thing is that there are plenty of others (RX Bandits, Gallows & the like) that I wouldn't mind seeing at all if there was no clash with them. Add Placebo & CIMoscow & there's a lot of depth.
|
| |
Nice, I'd see Paramore if there was nothing else on.
Gallows/Alexis/CIM are all must see’s for me.
|
| |
"Nice, I'd see Paramore if there was nothing else on."
Well, I think that expecting Hayley to come out without clothing is a little ambitious! LOL.
|
| |
You wouldn't complain if she did.
|
| |
http://www.metalobsession.net/slayer-to-join-soundwave-tour
That would be shit.
"4 of the bands have 1 word in their names, 1 has 2 and 3 have 3 words"
1 word = Placebo, Anthrax, Throwdown, ?
2 words = Enter Shikari.
3 words = Motion City Soundtrack, Closure In Moscow, Set Your Goals.
|
| |
It's Placebo, Anthrax, Throwdown and Hatebreed
|
| |
But Hatebreed are in the UK when Soundwave is on.
|
| |
The rumours were correct, except instead of Hatebreed, it's Shinedown.
|
| |
I think it's a great 2nd lineup. Will probably see Placebo & Closure In Moscow, while the other bands (except Anthrax) could all get a look-in if timetables permit.
|
| |
Any guesses about the final band?
I'm going with Slayer, but someone said Glassjaw which would be way too amazing.
|
| |
To be honest, I'm not counting on any other addition for the time being... Not until AJ officially says it himself anyway.
Even if there is one, I'm not expecting anyone big. That way, if it is, then it will be a bonus.
|
| |
Last year was pretty good, I think I'll have to go this time around too.
|
| |
City and Colour if it's a smaller act.
|
| |
Meshuggah is all that matters
|
| |
Although, going from the clues it's a one-word band. Slayer, Hatebreed, Metallica, Opeth... Alright, stop salivating. Hey, maybe it's Saliva! Haha.
|
| |
ISIS ISIS ISIS ISIS
|
| |
What's that? The Gaslight Anthem changed their name to "Thegaslightanthem"
|
| |
Haha. Unfortunately they will apparently be in the studio CTS.
|
| |
Yeah, I read about that. I guess that's a fair trade off.
|
| |
longest news thread ever
|
| |
"soundwave2010 8th band is not a huge band... Don't get carried away people..."
|
| |
Lol, Davey, I would be even more jealous than I already am if Saliva went.
|
| |
Told you CTS. Oh well, glad that there is an 8th band at least. One person's not huge band is another person's favourite.
Come on Tom, come along. There's a rumour that Hayley Williams wants you to.
|
| |
Then she can pay for my ticket dammit.
|
| |
Haha... She can't afford it after paying for a year's worth of hair-dye.
|
| |
That actually wouldn’t surprise me Davey.
Time tables come out soon don’t they?
|
| |
About a couple of weeks away... Barring band(s) cracking the $hits because they're not main stage or not headlining a stage.
|
| |
Just checked his Twitter, and he said they're all done just waiting for reactions from bands.
Who do you think would get most annoyed, Davey?
|
| |
Me... If there are too many clashes!
|
| |
Well, Trivium and MCR overlap, so you’re bound to be annoyed now.
|
| |
Hahahaha. Oh yeah, I listen to Trivium every night before I go to bed.
|
| |
So, when you wake up you throw on Whitechapel?
|
| |
I'd more likely go pray in a white chapel.
|
| |
"Maximum The Hormone drummer Nao is in hospital in critical condition. band have cancelled all upcoming shows incl SW2010... The band pass on their sincerest apologies. Replacement will be announced shortly."
|
| |
Yeah, 2 bands left... Apparently will be named early next week.
|
| |
Yeah, I posted this the other day but it didn't appear for some reason.
He’s confirmed it’s not another J-Rock band.
Want to take a guess Davey?
|
| |
I really have no idea. I don't expect them to be big names. I'm more worried about clashes right now.
|
| |
Actually, if the rumour that one of the bands is a one syllable name, then I'll go with Mae.
|
| |
I've never listened to Mae. What are they like?
Yeah, I agree they won’t be big names.
I would love to see City & Colour added to the line up.
|
| |
Neither have I. Been on my list to listen to for a while now, but...
|
| |
Mae aren't great. I'm hoping for something like Person L.
|
| |
We want Fightstar... We want Fightstar... We want Fightstar.
|
| |
I just checked them out, and they’re alright.
I wouldn’t go watch them if they were on the line up though. I have too many bands to see as it is.
|
| |
Haha I'd drop almost all of the bands I want to see for Fightstar.
|
| |
Fightstar rule. I'd kill to see them whip out a Busted cover, though.
|
| |
Yeah, that would be cool. I wonder if the other band members stir Charlie about that, or if he goes all 'War Machine' on them if they do.
|
| |
The video to Deathcar was filmed right after he said they should do a cover of Busted.
|
| |
Second announcement is a little bit disappointing...
|
| |
tombits, you talking about Soundwave or Big Day Out. I liked the Soundwave 2nd announcement.
|
| |
BDO second line up was pretty disappointing apart from Hilltop Hoods, Phrase and The Middle East.
|
| |
I was talking about soundwave, although now that I think about it I guess it's decent for a second announcement. BDO's was definitely disappointing though.
|
| |
second BDO lineup was the worst thing i've ever seen.
|
| |
Hilltop are always fun. Phrase should be good and The Middle East will be cool but other than that, boo-urns.
|
| |
Umm, Devendra fucking Banhart.
|
| |
what's a devandra fucking banhart?
|
| |
Hilltop are fucking annoying.
|
| |
good to see the middle east getting more exposure, they've really taken off this year.
|
| |
I know the 2nd announcement for BDO was average, but I don't get people who want 30 great acts at a festival. There ain't time to see them. You'll just get frustrated by the clashes.
Both Soundwave & BDO gave me another 3-4 possible acts to see with their 2nd announcements. I'm happy with that. If anything, it was the 1st announcement of the BDO that was the issue.
|
| |
GLASSJAW IS THE 8TH BAND JIZZ JIZZ JIZZ FUCKING EPIC
seriously, this is like the best thing ever
+ Brand New tour announcement and this is basically the most perfect thing i've ever heard
|
| |
WHAT THE FUCK SERIOUSLY?
|
| |
http://twitter.com/soundwave2010
:D
probs the happiest moment of my life
Also, Brand New are playing at Metros Freo on the 31st of March, I trust I'll see you there?
|
| |
Yes you most definitely will D:
When are the tickets on sale?
|
| |
no idea, not for a while i don't think
|
| |
On the Soundwave fourm it says "Thursday November 19th"
|
| |
Glassjaw better be true...i havent got my tickets yet, they would be the deciding factor.
|
| |
when to timetables get released?
|
| |
seriously dude, Glassjaw are confirmed
|
| |
no doubt, i'm going to it
|
| |
This Is Hell confirmed they are the replacement for Maximum The Hormone a few hours ago.
|
| |
As much as I probably won't see either of the 2 added bands, they definitely add more of a hardcore element, meaning this entire group of acts could be (one of) the strongest ever to hit Oz imo. There really is something for everyone here... Unless you hate guitars.
|
| |
The devil wears prada have pulled out, architects are in.
|
| |
If thats true that is so fucking awesome. Lol at all the angry fans hahaha
a shitty well known band being replaced by a interesting lesser known band
|
| |
i remember hearing on the radio this morning, that a couple of band members from Led Zeppelin are going to play at Soundwave (at least in Adelade?!) not sure if that's true but coming from the radio, i hope it is.
|
| |
Man, who next; The Beatles!?

Hopefully Glassjaw play a sideshow, I'd definitely go to that.

Fucking win RE: TDWP/Architects
|
| |
Unrelated but when do the brand new tickets go up for sale?
|

Fri 27 Nov, 9am

Any hint/announcement as to a support? Or will Jesse just come out & strum a few songs he makes up on the spot?
|
| |
It's Kevin Devine, CK
|

This is Hell got added onto Soundfest
I don't understand this line up at all though. It's like they wrote down a bunch of bands, threw em' in a hat and picked them out like that.
|
| |
What's not to understand? And it's Soundwave - look at the title.
|
| |
cool, still doesn't make sense
|
| |
What's not to understand?
|
| |
Thanks DavID. Makes sense as AJ would have worked with him before.
Yep, it totally doesn't make sense. We wouldn't want any kind of variety.
|

Time tables are up!
|
| |
glassjaw/clutch clash ;
all the bands i want to see are playing early besides faith no more and gallows.
sighhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
|
| |
Alexisonfire and Clutch clash. Alexis win.
Meshuggah and A Wilhelm Scream . Not sure who to favour here.
|
| |
Wow just noticed RX bandits and closure in moscow clash too.
fml
|
| |
If I manage to score the press pass someone is offering, I'm gonna fucking cream.
|
| |
Timetables seem fine to me. Always gonna be clashes when there are that many good bands on the card.
I really didn't think I'd get to see Rx Bandits and/or Closure In Moscow, so Kritikal Motion, I don't even see that 10 minute crossover as a clash (unless you are in a different state to me & the timetables are different).
|
| |
I was going for 6 bands pretty much, 4 of them clash. Not exactly lucky.
On my timetable i could possibly watch 10 minutes of RX bandits then the rest of Closure in Moscow. But thats not even worth it because i'd probably miss the start of CiM then.
|
| |
I think it's great to see them on the main-stage full stop... No matter how early it is. Hopefully, they can blow the as-yet-unconverted away.
|
| |
I think it will be a fun to start the day off with Closure. And it's great that they're on the main-stage.
|
| |
No, the fun start to the day is 25-30 minutes of Rx Bandits... Then Closure In Moscow.
|
| |
Placebo clashes with Meshuggah for me. But otherwise it's kinda good. My day seems awesome.
I'm going with a couple of chicks so TBS clashes with Isis. There is no fucking way I'll miss Isis so they can fuck off. =D
|
| |
... unless they use their powers of seduction on you.
|
| |
Well, They can wait. They know I basically bought my tickets for Isis. The only thing that may stop me is being killed in mosh pit or being too wasted and passing out (highly unlikely).
I was really looking to moshing to some Meshuggah though, that would be fun. Not as fun as Placebo though.
|
| |
I can see it now... Powerban gets wasted & passes out. "His" chicks drag him to the main stage area, throw him up on stage & Adam Lazzarra twirls his microphone chord around Powerban's neck lassoo style to wake him up. Powerban responds with "Thanks, now I'm off to see Isis".
|
| |
Gallows and SDRE clash is such a fail. HEY GUYZ LETS PUT TWO OF THE ESSENTIAL BANDS ON THE BILL ON AT THE SAEM TIEM!
|
| |
Not in Brisbane Davey.
|
| |
Lol. If I woke up that way I'd probably hell pissed off and I'd have to hurt Adam. But yes, I would thank him for waking me up for Isis after.
|
| |
There's always gonna be clashes & I think Gallows & SDRE is just an unfortunate one. They aren't exactly alike, so I don't think you can blame the promoter for that one. The 2 questionable ones (neither of which affect me) are MCRomance clashing with ETFate, and ADTRemember clashing with Enter Shikari.
And yeah, if RX Bandits clash with Closure In Moscow, that's unfortunate too. Most of the timetables looked identical on a quick glance.
