Bellamy goes death metal
|
| |
I'm sorry, what
|
| |
Hahah for a brief moment
|
| |
Feels like it's a pastiche from multiple Muse songs tbh and I can't even put my finger on the songs put in the blender here. Also, where is the growl?! Did he mean the whispers?
|
| |
No way this track justifies being 5 min long, having said that, it does have some cool moments.
|
| |
Some of the vocal inflections are weird but I like this overall
|
| |
@kalkwiese how do you miss that insane death growl at 3:06???
|
| |
Oops, yea, I missed that. Uh, nice!
|
| |
Sounds like a bizarre mashup of Stockholm syndrome, Bliss and their more recent stuff.
Take the modern metal quote with a grain of salt. Definitely sounds like a band that does not like or play metal implementing metal ideas.
Probs not going to listen to this again but I can't dent they are still unique band with some creative ideas left.
|
| |
" Definitely sounds like a band that does not like or play metal implementing metal ideas. "
Sounds like a casual playing DM.
|
| |
This is kind of fun but definitely too long. Cutting a minute and a half would've done it a lot of good.
|
| |
I enjoyed this. It's the usual ridiculousness of Muse with some nice heavier moments.
|
| |
how does this piece of shit band even still exist
|
| |
Dude… I kind of like this and I’m mad about it
|
| |
The tapping solo is insane, definitely big heavier absolution vibes
|
| |
dalle-mini muse plays sonic 2 sandopolis zone at burning man 2029
|
| |
this song honestly rules lol
|
| |
^ amazing and also showing your age
The chorus is legit almost converge - a single tear with British crooning instead of rah rah rah
|
| |
Sandopolis was such a ball-ache, a beautiful beautiful ball-ache
think it was Sonic & Knuckles 4th stage tho
|
| |
oh yeah that's from sonic 3 and knuckles damn
|
| |
Yeah I used to play them as a combo too, good times
Then you could stick Sonic 2 in the Knuckles cartridge too and play with Knuckles on that game
|
| |
Wtf I just read the above and metal was mentioned, lol
Will be checking out of morbid curiosity
|
| |
1st muse song ive liked since Mercy
where the fuck is the growl tho?
|
| |
it's very quiet in the mix, it's around like 3:06
|
| |
Needed some Demilich burps desperately
|
| |
Drowning Pool - Sinner type beat
|
| |
Some of these riffs actually kinda go in ngl, feel like I can almost hear the barest whisper of 2000s DT here which I never thought I'd say for these guys
Still not amazing for most of the reasons you'd expect but yknow what I admire the effort
|
| |
Yeah so this slaps?!?!?
|
| |
holy shit the chugg
holy shit the growl *.*
|
| |
One of the better recent Muse songs imo.
Nice marketing tactic showing only women in the crowd shots
|
| |
lmao
|
| |
Musically this is pretty cool but that snare sound is weak AF and his vocals don’t fit at all
|
| |
better than anything i've heard from muse since like 2008
|
| |
Honestly a great track, been enjoying every new song excepting Compliance.
|
| |
It's kind of a less good but heavier version of Stockholm Syndrome. It's fun. Surprised how hard it goes in the breakdown though, it being Muse and all. However I don't understand why the production sounds so much worse than on Won't Stand Down. Especially that drum sound, aren't they both on the same album?
|
| |
The best song muse have released in a very long time. Still doesn't hold a candle to anything off Absolution but a fun little bop nonetheless.
|
| |
unironically amazing song.
|
| |
I need more "metal" Muse in my life.
|
| |
I enjoy this, but still get the feeling that lots of vocal melodies are kind of recycled?
It slap though, Muse should do heavier stuff more often
|
| |
Def should do heavier stuff more
|
| |
Nah this is as terrible as anything they've done since Black Holes
|
| |
kek
|
| |
Damn this m3tal
|
| |
This is pretty fuckin good for late-era Muse tbh, easily one of their best songs in like 15+ years. Bellamy goes in hard on the riffs and solo, unfortunately the song gets shafted with this tame-ass production. That snare needs to be way hotter and so do the guitars
|
| |
Instrumentation is excellent as well, got some small hopes for the album to be good. Will of the People is also kinda great on repeated listens.
|
| |
This isn't half bad, nice to hear a Muse song with actual energy.
It's been a while.
|
| |
That album art is horrible lol
|
| |
Look at all those instagramers doing a mosh pit.
Song's alright, the growl part was laughable. Bah.
|
| |
why was it laughable?
|
| |
Honestly, considering we had 'Drones' in their catalogue, this isn't that bad. Maybe the bar is low, whatever - it's an enjoyable song for the most part.
Also it's not like the growl part is offensively bad, it pretty much sounds like Serj from SOAD's "death" vox on 'Toxicity'. I think it's a cool new thing they're doing, and I'm not much of a Muse guy aside from 'Absolution'.
Solo is also really fun.
|
| |
One of the best Muse songs in ages, god damn. This album seems to be a mixed bag, Won't Stand Down was pretty good though did not really stick with me, but Compliance and Will of the People almost made me throw up.
|
| |
I like the song actually but its so goofy and I don't think that was intentional lol
|
| |
Cmon, Will of the People is fun af, such a straightforward jam practically made for live shows.
|
| |
I think I can't stand Matt voice anymore but song is miles better than the pile of hot garbage they've released since BH&R.
|
| |
How the hell do you release a song of this quyality on the same album along with Compliance and Will of the People? Matt must be trolling
|
| |
They've been wildly inconsistent since BHAR. Every album has at least a handful of songs that are perfectly good or just as good as their other stuff, it's usually just weighed down by mountains of crap
|
| |
Chorus sounds like they listened to Deconstruction by Devin Townsend Project once.
|
| |
"Definitely sounds like a band that does not like or play metal implementing metal ideas."
TBF They do listen to some metal, they've covered bits and pieces of metal songs before - mainly Deftones (Headup especially) and recently Slipknot.
|
| |
The crowd shots are pathetically forced.
|
| |
Im with the sentiment that this sounds better than anything since BHAR. The death metal part sounds like what you get if you just asked a random guitarist to play a drop tuned death metal riff, though.
That wailing part before that is pretty funny to me. I kind of like that about it, but I don't know if that was intentional either.
|
| |
Instrumentation is good, but that lazily-written chorus ("Fate is driving me insane..."), with its emphasis on Bellamy's extended vocal croons, does not transition well from the choppy, aggressive riffing everywhere else.
|
| |
"Feels like it's a pastiche from multiple Muse songs tbh and I can't even put my finger on the songs put in the blender here"
^
It's a Frankenstein and some, not all, of the pieces fit together quite right
|
| |
can we all just be glad this isn't straight up the same trash that they've been releasing for over the last decade???
this *slaps* in comparison
|
| |
Yeah I agree, this is somehow the most respectable thing they’ve done in over 10 years despite some of the obvious hilarious parody. They put enough effort in to make it work when it probably shouldn’t have.
|
| |
If the hook was catchier they could have really had something here but as is it's fine but whatever... no desire to listen to it again any time soon.
We all know the trash Muse has been putting out for years now but when people say stuff like this is the only respectable song they've made in a decade must be forgetting The Handler shits all over this song...
|
| |
the least terrible muse song in a decade interesting
would hesitate to call it good though

It’s been 15 years since I realized Muse was cut from a different cloth. They’ve continued impressing me in everything they’ve done ever since - this feels like the gorgeous sequel to Stockholm Syndrome I never knew I needed. Thanks Muse for all the amazing hours spent enjoying your art 🏆

awww how sweet and nice. love to read comments like that.
|
| |
youtube comments are the real cancer
|
| |
twitter comments are worse these days
|
| |
Won't stand down was pretty solid too I won't lie. Those other 2 singles are so bad.
|
| |
This album is shaping out to be a pretty good guilty pleasure album, ngl
|
| |
Muse is music for people who'll probably end up on r/iamverysmart
|
| |
youtube comments are hilarious, no matter what the song sounds like its always:
Finally! This reminds me of their old sound 😍😍
and
This is different but I like it! 😍😍
both comments highly upvoted on the same song of course
|
| |
It doesn't seem possible that a band should be able to flip between sounding cool as fuck and like lame bullshit the way this one does. This song is a fucking banger, but at the end of the day, it's still muse and they can't help but sound like too much and not enough at the same time, and there's always a kernel of that even when they are very good.
Still, this is shaping up to be the best thing they've done since Absolution-- and honestly, it sounds a lot like that album to my ears. The other singles aren't bad, but didn't come close to snagging my attention like this one did. Bellamy needs to shut the fuck up more frequently. His voice is incredible at times but absolutely grating at others.
