The original title was Opeth's Blackwater Boogaloo
The mod who approved it decided to add a little bit lmao

|

No Patterns in the Ivy 2? : (
|
| |
Man, you had me thinking that they were making a sequel album. I don't know if this is better or worse.
|
| |
$25 default shipping from the UK. Oof. Bumps it up to a $60 purchase.

"[Akerfeldt] added of the Blackwater sessions that took place in the fall of 2000, "It's well known that Steven Wilson came in to produce the album"..."

As a big fan of Wilson: why TF didn't I know this?? lmfao
|
| |
bro Wilson literally sings on Blackwater Park, as well as Damnation
|
| |
Nothing on here that makes me want to buy this again on vinyl
|
| |
Can't wait for Opeth oldschoolers to remind us again why Blackwater Park is the greatest Opeth album ever made for the 500,000,000th time in a row on July 16.
|
| |
Already got the original pressing, thanks.
But seriously, best band ever.
|
| |
why wait til july
|
| |
Summer money.

"bro Wilson literally sings on Blackwater Park, as well as Damnation"
They also did a small tour together for Damnation with Porcupine Tree.
|
| |
haven't been a huge opeth fan for years, but I might actually snag this one
|
| |

Just imagine if he had saved Californication, Whats the Story Morning Glory or any Fleet Foxes album. Oh, the things that could have been.
|
| |
Oh yeah the transformative ‘what if?’ scenario where terrible bands get slightly better. The mind boggles.
|
| |
As for this I’m not actually sure I care, which feels weird.
Great news headline though 😄

the mixing and mastering on this record sucks, i'd only consider buying it if it was remastered
|
| |
"audiophile approved vinyl"
this is always a load of wank, it's probably pressed at GZ
|
| |
it's just thick LP. which is always appreciated i guess but it doesn't need the pretentiousness lmao
|
| |
If the album is so special they should perform the album in its entirety on their next tour
|
| |
the still life remaster sux so finger's crossed
|
| |
“this is always a load of wank, it's probably pressed at GZ“
or record industry in holland, which is where the 2010 MOV reissue was pressed
|
| |
Dont talk shit about mov
|
| |
I absolutely love Opeth. One of my top bands, easily.
No reason to get excited here. I'd just love them to return to making interesting music. Last three albums were underwhelming.
|
| |
“Dont talk shit about mov”
my comment was actually pretty tame compared to what i’ve said about mov in the past
|
| |
lmao this is brilliant
"Growlsmith, time traveling '70s rocker, and instrumental polymath Mikael Akerfeldt" xD
|
| |
I was going to get this until I saw shipping is over $30.

i fucking love this post and title dkjhgbv

"Just imagine if he had saved Californication"
???
|
| |
Make prog rock great again Steven. ¯_(ツ)_/¯
|
| |
@Dominion I always thought the consensus on MOV was they were pretty good. My Souvlaki MOV pressing sounds fantastic, no warping, etc and that seems to be other people's experiences.
|
| |
It's baffling when bands do this after a prior deluxe reissue exists that already offers more bonus tracks.
I mean, I guess that was CD-only, but still, even if they're aiming for the vinyl obsessives, clearly they could've beefed this bad boy up a bit.
|
| |
“I always thought the consensus on MOV was they were pretty good. My Souvlaki MOV pressing sounds fantastic, no warping, etc and that seems to be other people's experiences.”
in my experience, their pressings really lack any real low end. if youre jamming a dreampop or whatever kind of album like souvlaki its not as big of a deal but if its a more “metal” kind of record, lower frequencies tend to matter a bit more

| |
Oh yeah the transformative ‘what if?’ scenario where terrible bands get slightly better. The mind boggles.
lol. amazing confidence there calling those bands terrible
|
| |
If they've hit #1 on the billboard, they're too mainstream to be good.
|
| |
‘lol. amazing confidence there calling those bands terrible‘
When you’ve been here a while it all just slips out.

>joined 2017

"The mod who approved it decided to add a little bit lmao"
Jom or Chan confirmed lol
"joined 2017"
Mat you know as well as I do that time doesn't function here like it does in the real world
|
| |
Hot takes lads

‘>joined 2017‘
4 years is a while in my book. Okay then after the best part of 20k comments, i.e. enough to just type the first thing that comes into your head and call it a day.
