Pretty trippy music vid. There are some fantastic shots though, like the silhouette over the city scape.

| |
SCORE- the song on the album I enjoy most.
|
| |
sweet
|
| |
Is this an Opeth video or a Rob Zombie video?
|
| |
Great song.....shitty video. Mike is WAY too intrigued with the 70's....
|
| |
still wondering what the hell did I just see.
|
| |
You and me both. Really odd stuff....no doubt about it. I feel like they are trying way to hard to make this "Psychedelic." I do like some of the artwork at the beginning of the video....but the shots featured around the chick seemed like something straight out of some old shitty 70's B-movie.
|
| |
Even though I'm not a fan of the band, the video seems pretty cool, suits the song well
|
| |
"Mike is WAY too intrigued with the 70's...."
Yeah, because it's the best decade in music by far. Why wouldn't he be?
|
| |
...well that was different
cute chick though
|
| |
Video was kinda stupid but also pretty cool. Love that song, but I'm still unsure about the album.
|
| |
"Yeah, because it's the best decade in music by far. Why wouldn't he be?"
wow...
|
| |
thanks i'm glad you agree
|
| |
This is the first time I've listened to a song from Heritage and I gotta say, I didn't really care for it. It doesn't feel like Opeth to me.
|
| |
That's probably my biggest issue with the album. Regardless, the music is good, but its not the Opeth that I grew to love. It's definitely not close to the stuff I fell in love with on Blackwater Park and Still Life. I hate to say it, but I feel like Mike is running out of ideas. This is a complete 360 degree turn from their older stuff and I feel like he's going to try and stick with this idea.....sadly, we might not hear the real Opeth again. I know a lot of people hate my opinion on this, but I really think that's what's going to happen.
|
| |
Song was gay, video was pretty cool though.
All music videos should be done like this, not just 150000 different shots of the band in a random location.
|
| |
You know it kind of reminds me the way the James Bond intros were done actually.
|
| |
Did the silhouette over the city remind anyone else of the Mussorgsky "Night on Bald Mountain" sequence from Fantasia? Hahaha.
The rest of it reminded me of some weird, watered-down cross of Marco Brambilla and Jodorowsky, spliced with old movie clips, and all with a 70s aesthetic/color scheme.
|
| |
I think it's pretty neat.
|
| |
Kinda reminded me of the beginning of every James Bond movie
|
| |
STOPS COPIES ME
|
| |
"I hate to say it, but I feel like Mike is running out of ideas."
In his own words he's done all he can in the old style of Opeth. He's exhausted the sound. So he was looking for something totally different, and out comes Heritage.
|
| |
pretty decent music video. Definitely has the 70's psychedelic vibe to it. Everyone who keeps flaming them for changing direction are just dumb. They've built their career on being slightly unpredictable. Pretty sure they're just making the music that they want to make, not what their fans want them to make. Which is pretty damn admirable.
|
| |
Video is like the album. Interesting... in an accident kinda way.
|
| |
Video was cool.. it actually had some interesting symbolism. Like the image of the modern city being "The Devil's Orchard" where the buildings are the trees and the falling apples are the... well I guess that should be obvious. Some of it was kind of random though.. but overall a unique concept.
|
| |
Liked it. Very trippy.
|
| |
Well, it definitely fits the song and album as a whole. Extremely over-the-top and uncompromising in its homage to the 70s.
That said, it's one of the best music videos I've seen in a long time.
|
| |
Seeing them live this tour has helped bump my appreciation for the new album a lot more.
|
| |
They pulled the ideas for the video from Murnau's Faust. That and Fritz Lang. Pretty much the whole German Expressionist movement. Predates the 70s by a good 50 years, then add in the psychedelia. Pretty cool video.
Edit: Some of the stuff reminded me of Ingmar Bergman's stuff too.
|
| |
good thing I wasn't the only one to notice that Jruined
|
| |
Song is good. Video is pretty cool.

Lol, Jruined wins.
|
| |
Song is good. Video is pretty cool.
Shit double post
|
| |
Relinquished: Beautiful period of film making right? I keep on picking up more and more films from that era thanks to Kino Video. It started with Metropolis and I just keep grabbing whatever they put out.
|
| |
Opeth on Pitchfork?
|
| |
Did the silhouette over the city remind anyone else of the Mussorgsky "Night on Bald Mountain" sequence from Fantasia? Hahaha.
I thought that very same thing.
|
| |
Interesting video. Too bad the song's still boring.
|
| |
Trippy. I like it.
|
| |
That chick is hot! Nobody mentioned that! I thought video was well done, great shots and segways, and it suits the song really well.
|
| |
so 70s
|
| |
really good
|
| |
that was awesome
|
| |
only thing that sucks about this and the new album is the vocals
|
| |
What? The vocals are incredible on the album. Best vocal melodies Mike has ever done.
|
| |
This fits the music so well it's not funny
|
| |
i just checked out the bald mountain fantasia thing and it was absolutely mesmerizing, seriously like the Death Metal of animation right there.
love the music video too
|
| |
Video is sexy
|
| |
I don't like Opeth, but I really enjoy this song and video! Need to listen the whole album.
|
| |
I like the video, but I wasn't however completely convinced. I see were they wanted to take me, but it felt a bit artificial, you can really see it's just an effect stamped on another, stamped on the video. the end was kind of dissapointing, the devil's movements were recycled.
Good album alltogether as well, I hope next time they give a little bit more of the "oomph" we wanted.
|
| |
i loved this
|
| |
Hot nekkid woman? In my Opeth?
|
| |
Beautiful period of film making right?
absolutely
|
| |
Best Opeth video yet, but that's not saying much because all of their other videos sucked. Rest assured, this is pretty good, but several shots of the girl were kind of oddly placed.
|
| |
Probably one of my favorite videos.
|
| |
Lame video. Had some cool parts but that city is so cheesy and so is that uhh.. devil? Wow.
|
| |
what the fuck are you guys talking about? the video was amazing in terms of cinematography
|
| |
video was fantastic, actually made me see the song in a different way (thought it was originally shit)
also realised that i hate akerfeldt's singing voice now
|
| |
video would be pretty lame sober
luckily that's not an issue
|
| |
this guy..
|
| |
The video started out good but quickly fell apart from there...
|
| |
this video is excellent. I love the new Opeth as well. Can't believe they're getting so much hate right now from a lot of their fans.
|
| |
it was to be expected
|
| |
These are metal fans we're talking about here...
|
| |
Humm...I love the film noir moments however the psychedelic sequences are average IMO. Lack of a better conceptual narrative throughout the video.
I believe Opeth had budget and resources to do something better...
Cool song.
|
| |
See how many people fall for this...
