Linkin Park New Album Update

2006-09-10 by Stormy Smiley Face | 27 Comments
Linkin Park came launched into the music scene in 2000 with their debut LP "Hybrid Theory" and sold millions upon millions of records. Then three years later they came back with "Meteora" and while it wasn't anything drastically different from "Hybrid Theory" it had singles strong enough to give the band another multi-platinum selling album.

Now, six years since the release of their first LP, Linkin Park are preparing their third album and have over one-hundred songs written and are still writing.

Mike Shinoda of Linkin Park elaborates:

"When songs are pouring out you don't ever want to stop that. We already have over 100 roughs for songs. We've narrowed it down since, but we're not ready to commit to those yet. I can't really speak much about the style of the record but it's probably the most fun I've had recording a Linkin Park album."

'Legendary' producer Rick Rubin is working with the band on recording the new album that has been pushed back from a release of late 2006 to early 2007.

Here is a video of the band performing a new song:

It will most certainly be interesting to see the turnout.

I really hope they change things up because we've already heard the same album twice.

But I still really enjoy Hybrid Theory.

I deleted the article about the new song on youtube and just edited it in here because it was silly to have two different articles on the band in one day when it could just be combined. This Message Edited On 09.10.06

Awesome. I like Linkin Park. They're the band that got me into music.

I have heard a new song live. It sounded just as boring as their past. It starts with them trying to be heavy or something, so I think "hey, maybe they changed a little". Then the rapping comes in and ruins it.

I see your a closed-minded rap hater. I never listen to rap, but I like some rap artists like Jay-Z, Run DMC, Tupac, and...even Ja Rule. Linkin Parks rap isnt bad at all.

See, the problem here is that you're comparing good rappers to Linkin Park, and that does not compute.

And beside the blind rap hate, he seems to equate heavy with being good. That's two blatant idiocies in one post.

I was dissapointed with meteora, but that song on utube looked like their going in the right direction.

Kind of a different approach, but it works for me. Nice to see something different from them.

I don't understand how Meteora wasn't "drastically" different. It wasn't very different, but is drastically a proper word for it?

i disagree with Bfhurricane, i rather dislike these guys, but i'm not going to avoid them like the drunk chick at a party.

/family guy
but i am being serious, HT was great, Meteora was average, i hope they do better

I'm pretty sure he was just joking. That was probably why he added the Z at the end of news...... at least I think so.
maybe he was trying to point out that this deserves to be called news just as the article that he posted desrves to be called news.

I don't really like LP, but I'am excited over this news for some odd reason.

I thought Linkin Park was cool when I was 10 or so. I still do kinda like them. I'll probably check this out just to remember those good old days.

i hate how every time theyre working on something, LP start boasting about how they've got "more than 100 songs" written. clearly they havn't, or if they have, its a case of writing loads for the sake of it.

it should be quality over quantity.
