Yeah, the other's were Psychopathy Red and Hate Worldwide. They were both kinda punk-thrash, not bad though. More reminiscent of Hell Awaits/Reign in Blood meets God Hates Us All. Obviously not the sum of their parts though...

Hmmm. I kinda liked it. Same issue as Hate Worldwide with the production though. Starting to think Fidelman was a bad choice.

Some really cool riffs in there, but it confirms my worries that the SoH/Seasons type moodier songs might not really click on this album, with Tom's voice much gruffer and more hostile than it was then.

It's got a couple of cool riffs sure (already been mentioned!) but honestly it's pretty boring. I'm not trying to be a dick man, it just kinda comes across that way. Could have something to do with the production; the drums sound really dull. I'll still be listening to the album though when it's released etc

I'm seriously hating the production on this album from the songs I've heard so far... Christ Illusion had a crunch to the guitars that I absolutely love, this album seems weak. Has some good riffs here and there, overall feels weak to me. Lol'd at the solo though.

Production really detracts from the good aspects in this song. Solo was goofy. Breakdown was LOLbad. Main riffs were okay until they repeated 20,000 times. Araya's voice sound weak and sterilized as does the guitar because of the production. Overall, production is the main weakness here.

I'll agree that Ruben's not what he used to be... but, look at the difference he made for Metallica between St. Anger and Death Magnetic. I guess it's up to interpretation as to whether the difference-making was his.. but I dunno, seems legit to me.

Fidelman was the engineer for and mixed Death Magnetic. People always bitch about the production and mix before the actual music, so Fidelman's the culprit there too (even though the mastering job doesn't bug me at all).

I don't have a big problem with the production on DM, although it bugged me a little at first. It's just a little too much treble. But isn't that consistent with a lot of Metallica records? RtL, KEA and AJFA all suffered from that same issue. Just listen to it on good speakers and turn the bass up.

I'm not really a big slayer fan TBH, but i tried to give this a fair listen and still have come to the conclusion that its not that good.
