as in i have it on in the background. im not sitting there and picking it apart. im getting on with my day and enjoying some ambient music in the background rather than silence. i enjoy having it on while doing other things or while falling asleep, but i'm not focusing on it. pretty simple notion really, background music.

could jam this in a private elevator

Album Rating: 3.5
Might change the rating to a 4 due to the first disc being filled with a lot of unnecessary stuff, but the second disc is still truly amazing.
"isn't all of hammock's stuff "weirdly uplifting and sappy"? this sounds the same as raising your voice... to me"
Maybe They Will Sing For Us Tomorrow: a lot of the songs there are pretty sad, same with the Chasing Shadows outtakes; also, listen to The Sleepover Series, the first half is pretty dark

btw nice dig...didn't know fauna had a new album

Some REALLY good songs on here, but most can be overlooked due to the length of the record. I found myself getting tedious of the "post-rock" sound near the end of the first disc.
Not sure how to feel overall yet. Gonna keep it at a steady 3.5 for now.

The second disc is what is keeping this a 4.5 for me

Tonight we burn like stars blew me away.
Overall really solid, maybe a tad to long. And I agree with some others who said, some songs on the first disc (Together alone... omg) are just plain boring and kind of sappy as well.

This was really boring if I remember correctly. All the songs are weirdly uplifting and sappy to the point where it just sounds silly. I want old Hammock back.[Quote]
I really don't see how someone could describe Cold Front as "weirdly uplifting".

Still not listened to all of this yet. Seems damn good atm.

Insta-4.5'd it. I could tell it would be totally consistent, and I was right.

Great review and I totally agree, though I actually like this one significantly more than their previous stuff.

I must have listened to each song on here about 50+ times individually but only sat down and listened to the whole thing in one sitting three times. Granted each time was amazing, but by gum this is a long one...
It seems weird how a band can trim all the fat of the previous albums and still have almost 2 hours of material.

Gotta turn it up to a 4.
Awesome post-rock finally.

This is just really really solid. It's so much material, but I love how you can play any track on the album and its great.

Definitely. My personal favorite track seems to be everybody's least favorite, though (Let's Kiss). It's just a type of music that Hammock haven't really touched on since Kenotic with tracks like Wish and What Heaven Allows, and all the while it's drop-dead gorgeous.
