A truly phenomenal work of art. Deep, etheral, melodic, touching, beautiful, emotional... the list of positive adjectives goes on for a long time, simply because Hammock have created an album that shows the world that they have outperformed themselves and reached musical boundaries few in their genre would ever dare touch upon. Simply put, Hammock are the masters of their craft. A must-buy.
Extremely impressed. I already enjoyed Hammock but usually in short fits and only for individual songs. This is the first of their albums I can just play and enjoy pretty much every song. The addition of more actual singing I think with the occasional strings mixed in makes for stronger songs generally. Standouts for me: Ten Thousand Years Won't Save Your Life, (Tonight) We Burn Like Stars That Never Die, (Let's Kiss) While All the Stars Are Falling Down, We Could Die Chasing This Feeling, (Leaving) the House Where We Grew Up
I have listened to this album three times in as many weeks. I very rarely adhere to one album so exclusively, as I have so much material I have to listen to. I keep coming back to this album repeatedly. In fact, I just finished RIITIIR, I think I may listen to Departure Songs again. This is a serious Album of the Year candidate.
