Ado Zanmu |
this is so much better than the debut album, its hardly even comparable. sure the debut has some great and very popular singles but otherwise that album really doesn't amount to much. here however, almost every album track has a unique identity and goes freaking hard. not to mention show as the great single which is easily the best song ado has released so far. |

AZKi without U |
The first album of hololive's legendary diva of sound. Unfortunately, this was a slight disappointment for me as I think most of AZKi's strongest material can be found in her singles, which leaves this collection of songs a bit more anemic that I would've liked. Still some bangers on here, particularly in the first half. I do generally absolutely adore AZKi's soft but powerful voice and I think she easily has one of the best music catalogues in hololive overall. Edit: I did this album dirty in the past. The first half has some of the most hype and actually heavy songs in all of hololive history and the second half keeps up with that energy but channels it into more danceable beats. Upping my rating from the measily 3.5 I had this at before. |
AZKi Re:Creating world |
Yo this is what I'm talking about, this is what it's all about. Much more interesting songs than on without U. AZKi also employs a wider array of vocal styles. |

I'd say this is a nearly perfected tight package of their style. I might actually prefer the more folky and messy style of Hatebreeder a tiny bit, although I do feel like I have to revisit that album with my newfound context knowledge about their subsequent releases, but this album is just so catchy, has so many great grooves and riffs and moments, and its incredibly tight and replayable. |

Disbelief Killing Karma |
Y'all are missing out if you don't jam this right the fuck now. Disbelief until now has been an admire-from-afar kinda deal for me because their music often felt too dense to fully dive into. However, on this album they have reached a level of songwriting that completely blindsided me. They always had a great groove element to their music like channeling Bolt Thrower, but an atmospheric identity completely their own in the death metal scene. I'd describe it as a lovechild of Neurosis and Behemoth, very captivating, thicc atmosphere you can meditate to. Riffs hard af. Album could've been trimmed down a tad but the songs that are here are all fantastic. Yeah this is a 4.5. |
Disbelief Disbelief |
They were ahead of the times with this one, Away for example sounds like a fully fleshed out Gojira track. Fantastic debut album, way better than I had any reason to expect. These dm underground legends didn't just age like fine wine, they were great from the very beginning. |

Hakui Koyori First Step |
This album took me by complete surprise. Previously never gave that much attention to Koyori or her music. I now realize that was a mistake. This album is shockingly good. Yes it is almost exclusively comprised of singles, but I for my part barely knew any of them except for WAO!! and Tear-gazer so it was a very fresh experience diving into this and lemme tell you it flows WELL, especially for an album of singles. Every song on here has something unique to offer which makes for a very varied listening experience throughout the runtime. Koyo's singing voice also grew very dear to me while discovering this album, she might not be at the very top of hololive talents in terms of raw vocal ability but man she has great expression and emotionality in her voice. The only song in the tracklist I don't really care much for is probably ??=?. Fav's include the metal track SHIAWASE?KOYORINIUM, Girls seeks Q.E.D. and the very funky Decorate but really all songs on here bring something unique, fun or interesting to the table. There are also a surprising amount of fantastic guitar solo's on here. Never would've guessed Koyo would release one of my favorite albums coming out of holo but here we are, I love being surprised. |

best thrash metal band of the 2020s |
Knorkator Sieg Der Vernunft |
Almost 30 years into their career they release this thing and its honestly incredible how
they managed that. I'll chalk it up partly to the lockdowns having seemingly rejuvinated so
many an artists creative juices, partly to the world becoming "crazier and crazier out
there" and partly to Knorkator just straight up being a great band. This might be their
heaviest album in a long while, not only musically. The lyrics are blunt and politically
potent in a way you probably would not have expected from a fun metal band often obsessed
with toilet humor. Having been a fan of these guys since the mid 00s though and knowing
about their East German background, I am not surprised at all, as they always had a sharp
sense for biting lyricism, even if it was often veiled in a blanked of juvenile hijinx. This
is their best album. 4.5/5 |
KOTO Platonic Planet |
Kreator Dying Alive |
Kreator is one of the most energetic livebands i've seen, and this DVD is the perfect example of their pure aggression, great stage presence and fantastic musicianship. It's pure thrash intensity. The only little flaw i see about this package is that there is not much besides the live DVD and the obligatory sound recordings on CD. |

Mayhem De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas |
For an album at the center of the second wave of bm, this album feels more a-typical than I would have expected. The vocals not being high pitched screetches all the time is the obvious example, but the music is also a lot less atmosphere and coldness oriented than what my previous image of the scene at the time would have suggested and goes more into groove and interesting song transitions instead. Liking it a lot. |

Animositisomina is probably my second favorite Ministry album after Filth Pig, I like it more than any of their 80s output. Mori Calliope Your Mori. |
If Dead Beats was a mission statement to make a bang on her vtube debut, Your Mori is a comfortable establishing of more confident genre blends and experimentation. Personally took me a bit to get into this EP, since I expected more aggressive tracks like on Dead Beats or Off With Their Heads, but the tracks quality songwriting speak for themselves here and unfold their brilliance over time. |
Mori Calliope UnAlive |
You might have noticed that I am indeed a fan.
There are a lot of very beautiful songs on
this album. Feels more free-flowing and
personal than the two releases that came after
it and also somehow more diverse. |
Mori Calliope Shinigami Note |
Major label debut do b banging though. Rarely have I seen a collection of 6 tracks being this incredibly tight. The beats are bursting at the seams with detail and weight and Mori once again stepped up both her singing and rap game. I might be incredibly biased but this is world class stuff to me. |

I think you need to be in a very specific mood to really enjoy this album. Thankfully I finally find myself in such a chipper, upbeat, yes almost manic mood tonight, and this album finally clicked with me. Yeah my mood really wasn't great lately, go figure. Anyway, this is kind of an incredible piece of art. Just pure polka insanity and chaos and it all melds together into a coherent amalgamation of omaru polka that is an absolute joy to experience when IN DA MOOD! Also very commendable that there is not a single older song on here, she literally didnt even post a promotional single before this album came out. A rare thing these days where most of hololive released albums are more or less single compilations with a few new added album tracks. Kind of makes this feel like a complete piece of art, a concept album almost. Well I'm definitely glad that I bought the special edition of this today, will be a very good addition to my hololive albums collection. |

I've long felt that Noel's musical output has been overlooked by the general hololive fan and here I am now only listening to this album for the first time half a year after its release. What a stinking hypocrite. Anyway, this album is absolutely worth it. Noel isn't exactly what you would consider a good singer, she doesn't have a particularly strong voice and her pitch control is uuuhm... lets just say lacking. Her voice is incredibly cute though, she really shines with denpa music and thats what this is to near perfection. A good number of bangers on here aswell as the very raw and vulnerable "ours". Fantastic album. |

First 5 songs are completely new, the second half is comprised of 5 previously released singles that stretch back to late 2020 in case of Hinotori. The older singles I all enjoyed since their respective releases, so no complaints there. The new songs are a grab bag of styles reaching from different styles of pop (among them jpop and kpop), to EDM and rock. I definitely enjoy The Great Wanderer and Retrospective the most in terms of instrumental aswell as lyrical themes, which are uncharacteristically introspective and sombre for Kiara. Overall a great mix of jams and a fantastic first album from tenshou o7 |

"I feel like this album is a bit overrated now that the new one has come out (Palaeozoic). rSome of the vocal lines and guitar tones flat out annoy me. Don't get me wrong though, its rstill a fantastic album for the most part. Basically everything after staterian is a 5/5 but runtil you get to that point you have to get through a bunch of 3s and 3.5s." Edit (2023): rThis statement was definitely a reflection of my ghastly state in 2018, arguably the low-rpoint of my life, at least when it comes to enjoyment of media. Of course this album is an rabsolute masterpiece! Hail The Ocean! |

AZKi Pages |
Even for AZKi's standards, this EP feels very intimate and relaxing. The songs have strong
chamber pop and glitch pop influences to them which make them absolute earcandy to absorb.
Besides AZKi's amazingly emotive voice, of course. Especially afterglow is a discography
highlight for me, but the whole EP is a fantastic short journey overall. These four songs
were originally released as standalone singles throughout 2022 and then compiled in this
very limited EP release. Thats why it makes sense that the songs sound very different from
each other. |

Raw and unfiltered songwriting, you can really grasp the passion, some truly outstanding moments on here. Most of the album is rather sparse with instrumentation, which is not a bad thing, mind you, because the explosions of guitar distortion hit so much more in comparison. A very interesting listen that demands continuous replays. Not to be overlooked by Biffy Clyro fans. |

A lot of well done Godflesh worship, one track (Swarm the State) also reminiscent of Fear Factory, at least vocally. Just lots of variety in the track listing here, there is one just bing chilling as a sweet ass jam focussed on a simple but tasty drum beat (The Window) and another track (Erase. Delete. Repeat) has some of the most catchy and even ethereal hook melodies I've heard in a good while in Industrial Metal. Great album. |

They continued to refine and tighten their songwriting on this coming from Hatebreeder but these two albums are quite similar. I feel like they toned down the folk and power metal elements a tad on this and went more into a metallic sound. Liking this about as much as Hatebreeder, currently not vibing with their style quite enough to give this a 4.5 but I get the feeling the next two albums might become my favorite, knock on wood. |
Children of Bodom Hatebreeder |
massive improvement in songwriting from their debut, shits anthemic. |
Children of Bodom Hate Crew Deathroll |
Even more straight forward and catchy songwriting focussed more on grooves and with even less power, folk or synth elements. Very replayable due to its short runtime. |
Children of Bodom Blooddrunk |
Riffs, slaps, bangs, rips. Rarely have I seen such an undeserving low average rating. If this exact album would've been released by a legacy thrash band in 2008 it wouldve earned it a 4+ average rating on here. This is their most thrash sounding album thus far shedding a lot of the groove influences the previous two records had and going for a more riff based approach, guitars are wyldin on here. |

Blodhemn definitely has its own identity within the bands discography as their most relentless album. |

Rat idol doing the good musics. Psycho is an absolute banger which I could not get enough
from since its release as a single around 3 months ago. Its a light to solid 5 followed by
the mellow Drown being a light 4.5 and it goes on with Boom being a great trilingual KPop
banger with 4.0. Rounding it up the closer Mess is still a great electronic pop song albeit
the weakest one here at 3.5. This makes this project a strong 4.0 to a light 4.5. |

High on Fire Cometh The Storm |
Why did the High on Fire guitarist get banned from the library? Because every time he checked out a book, he'd turn it into a "heavy" metal masterpiece! Sorry about that, let me explain. High on Fire is known for their heavy and aggressive style of music, often categorized as "heavy metal." The joke plays on the idea of the guitarist being so heavy-metal oriented that even when he checks out a book from the library (which should be unrelated to music), he somehow transforms it into something heavy and metal, like their music. It's a play on the literal meaning of "heavy metal" (the music genre) and the literal weight of a book. |

Hololive Idol Project ORIO - Over Time |
Great short EP from two of holo's most unique and powerful singers, featuring three very dramatic and boppy songs that wouldn't be out of place on any of the respective talents own albums. I think the production could definitely be better but the songs themselves are fantastic. |
Hololive Idol Project AyaFubuMi - Sleepless Songbook |
This EP is a ton of fun with lots of variety guided by a theme of some traditional japanese instrumentation with various modern genres. Every song feels unique and has its own hooks, the three talents play really well off each other. Its just a great time to spin this one again and again. |

This long awaited album mainly showcases marines many big singles she released over the last four years aswell as the sheer diversity of her sound. Unison and Shinkiro remain my favorite marine songs but there is a lot to enjoy on here. |

In Flames Sounds of a Playground Fading |
In Flames Sounds From The Heart Of Gothenburg |
This is about the live DVD/bluray. In Flames proove once again that they still are an amazing force live with this new document of their latest show in gothenburgs 'Skandinavium'. Nearly every song on here sounds better than on their respective studio albums, everything is energetic and filled to the brim with positive energy. The setlist is almost exclusively assembled from their modern records and that shows, as those songs are clearly meant for the live environment. Even the songs from siren charms are powerful and prove their worth live (even through oblivion). Im still glad there were no songs from battles on the setlist though. Many people criticize anders live performance, which i cant understand at all tbh, since he sounds more varied and emotive than in the studio. I at least can feel honest emotion from his live performance. This live DVD reinvigorated my lost love for modern in flames somewhat and that alone should be reason enough to watch this. m/ In Live Flames we trust m/ |

Ministry Houses Of The Molé |
Honestly despite WTV breaking up the album in a rather unpleasant way, I still enjoy the vibes on this a whole lot, thrashier fast paced first half leading into the more meditative second half. Ministry always shines the brightest for me when they do longer songs. |
Ministry Rio Grande Blood |
riffs much harder than mole but kinda lost its luster over the couple times I've jammed it, still great, but not as amazing as I felt about it on that first jam. |
Ministry The Last Sucker |
Just goes and goes and goes, best opening song of the bush trilogy, possibly the best closing track of their whole discography (up until this point) and a lot of bangers in-between aswell. Especially enjoy The Dick Song with its Shinsei Kamattechan-esque background vocals and the balls to the wall punk rock that is Die In A Crash. |
Ministry HOPIUMFORTHEMASSES |
Their most fun album in a decade or two. Lots of variety on here, every track feels like its own cosmos, lots of ideas that mesh well. This is what Beer tried to be and failed miserably. |
Minoru Muraoka Bamboo |
Mogwai Young Team |
Mol Diorama |
Momosuzu Nene ねねねのね! |
Who allowed Nenechi to have such an absolute banger as her first single?? Might seriously be one of the hypest idol songs ever conceived. The other tracks on here are more conventional, two more twinkly j-pop songs follow, then a more mellow song. The EP is capped off by another really fun electronically driven jam in Ring-A-Linger. Nene's voice always stays exceptionally cute througout. |
Monstrosity Millennium |
Excellent meaty dm with solid songwriting, definitely on the oldschool side. |
Monstrosity The Passage of Existence |
Very finely crafted death metal. This album stands among the best oldschool dm bands can offer in the 2010s. |

Mori Calliope Sinderella |
Internet Brain Rot is not a good song. I know
full well where she comes from and I agree
with her take on the situation but the lyrics
just don't cut it in that one. Otherwise the
album is great but I do like it less than her
previous works. Still, I'm an incredibly
biased
deadbeat and I'm planning on keeping it that
way. |
Mori Calliope Your Mori. Lo-Fi Album |
The imperfect live-recorded vocals on here might not be to everyone's taste but I definitely appreciate them. Bully was already great on the original EP but got a massive improvement on here, definitely the highlight. I also prefer the lo-fi version of guh compared to the original. The other two aren't necessarily better than the originals but definitely nice remixes. Instrumental versions on here are a nice addition for those who want to try their luck at karaoke. |

My Dying Bride Sinamorata (DVD) |
My Dying Bride A Mortal Binding |
A return to form of sorts. Simple is best with this one, focussing on heavy riffs and a tragic atmosphere helped with the trademark violin accompaniment. They really honed in on what they are best at here. Only the harsh vocals really aren't what they used to be. |

Nerissa Ravencroft In My Feelings |
A surprise EP from one of Hololive's newest and best singers, there's a lot of revival disco and Dance Pop on this EP and I enjoy all of it. Say My Name had been released for a few months now so I'm most familiar with it, its a great song. SHATTER also surprised me with its more eletronic synthpop vibes, definitely my favorite sound on the album. The two middle songs are also pretty good, more Nu Disco in the vein of Say My Name, basically. Pretty great debut EP from Nerissa, took a bit to get used to the sound but I'm digging it now. I definitely get the feeling that she can do a lot more with her voice though. Technically shes one of the most proficient in all of holopro. Sadly she's working with a broken horn here (vocal damage) so I hope she can get the support she needs for that, maybe a surgery like Suisei did two years ago. |

I've never got too deep into ReGLOSS during the one year they have been around so far but I've found delight in seeing them in collabs and I've listened to their music. Enjoying most of the songs on here to a decent degree, feelingradation, LAKI MODE and their debut song Shunkan Heartbeat being my favs from this. At 26 minutes its a very short album but definitely a good time and worthy of a few replays. All their voices are pretty unique and the beats have a sort of subtle futuristic flavour to them that binds them all together and creates the ReGLOSS music identity, I suppose. |

Surprisingly the overall quality of their performance is excellent especially bjorn strid vocals are top notch. there are also two little documentary's and four drum videos on the bluray. "...wat Bluray?", you say? Yeah like ophidian trek from meshuggah this is only available on bluray. |

If Pathfinder wasn't the opener, this might've been a 4.5 for me. Pretty much every other song on the album I really like. The decision to open with that turd drags this album down quite a bit. I dont even dislike the instrumental on that song and the chorus is also pretty neat and great in a live environment but the millenial chanting just completely ruins it for me, no matter how many chances I gave it. Anyway, other than that the album is fantastic and more consistent in quality than Specter. The production quality is phenomenal and every single song is unique and stands on its own. Suisei has truly arrived in the mainstream and I'm absolutely here for it. |
Suisei Hoshimachi Specter |
A much more varied, albeit arguably less epic
second album. The songs speak for themselves
though for the most part, although there are
definitely some tracks on here i don't really
feel like returning to. Overall definitely not
as groundbreaking an album as her debut was
but still great in its own right. |

Takane Lui Liberty |
Lui always struck me as having one of the most unique voices in hololive ever since her debut in december 2021. It's mature, slightly raspy and sultry and rather deep, though she can still surprise the listener with some pretty high notes. Honestly I have been waiting for a full album from Lui for a good while now, the singles she released so far over the last 3 years have been some of the best in all of hololive. Especially Fools Fools Fools struck me as one of the most fun metal adjacent bangers the company has produced this far. Now with the album we get five more previously unknown songs which complete the package quite nicely for me here. The journey goes from electro swing to lead single Evil Eye Wink which impresses with a fabulous guitar lick and some of Lui's most impressive vocals to date. I don't even know how to describe Tori To Re:TreaT with its whistling accompaniment in the verses and extremely punchy synths. A treat indeed. Overd and Holohawk are Lui's most successful singles and definitely serve as some of the most catchy songs on the album. Wonderful release overall. |

Tokino Sora Dreaming! |
This, to my knowledge, is the first album ever released by Hololive. It's a surprisingly competent J-pop album, considering Hololive was still in its relative infancy and Sora had only been active for a bit over a year at this point. It's definitely overlong but I was still pleasantly surprised that there was so much to enjoy on here. |
Tokino Sora On Stage! |
This one seriously surprised me. While Sora's debut album focussed pretty exclusively on typical idol songs in the j-pop and pop rock genres, this album is a lot more diverse and every single song has a distinct identity. It also helps that this is almost half as long as the debut, so the replayability is way better. |
Tokino Sora Re:Play |
Very fun cover album with some absolute classics. |
Tokino Sora STAR STAR T |
This is probably my favorite release from Sora so far, lots of fun songs, really no weak spots on here. Especially Star Star Start is an incredibly fun and catchy banger. It's great to see her still releasing great stuff after over 6 years, just shows how hard working she is. |

Don't know if i just have a bad rip or if this
album is really supposed to sound like this
but there is some absolutely terrible loudness
present on here, especially noticable in the
bass bursts in higher grounds chorus. Thats a
damn shame because otherwise this album has a
lot to offer, starting off with a banger of a
track in insane dream and following it up with
a sweet ballad and the bass driven twoface.
The album falls down a bit in excellence after
that but there are still great moments
sprinkled throughout. Of course the highlight
of aimers music always was her vocal delivery
and thats not different on here. Just a damn
shame about the production, maybe ill fine a
better version sometime but for now ill settle
for a 3.5. |

AZKi Route If |
More glitch pop and upbeat pop rock following
in AZKi's 2022 output. Track 2 sounds like a
typical anime opening with orchestra
integration a la hibike euphonium. The only
really AZKi Black feeling track is chaotic
inner world with its harsh electronic beats,
erratic drumming and a overall fairly menacing
vibe. Wish AZKi would go more into that sound
again. Theres lots of soft and uplifting j-pop
in the second half, a good fit for AZKi's
clear, breathy and emotional voice to show its
full impact. Track 7 somehow sounds like its
been produced by Taku Inoue at times. Very
similar to his hallmark sound. Wish I could
understand more japanese at this point, there
is a whole dimension to this album that I'm
missing out on. My opinion of this album would
further improve, should I get hold of some
translated lyrics. Overall a slight
disappointment for me but still a pretty great
album with enough variety and musical depth to
keep me interested for multiple listens. |

This project was advertised as a more melancholic, serious and introspective take on the tried and true idol music formula and I'd say they mostly succeeded with that goal in mind. The best part about this album and project in general is that there are a whole lot of hololive members singing in it. As a seasoned hololive music fan its a real treat to listen to this and figure out who is singing at any given moment. I might raise my rating after watching last years live audience concert and getting more into the project but its a 3.5 for now. |

Pretty unique sound here having like a chill-out melodic death metal kinda idea and its fairly well executed. Very mood dependant, I see the quality and vision here, I'm just a bit bored by it after a while. The mix is very low end heavy which definitely aids in it being more of an relaxing listen. |

Spacey vocals and fantastic
drumming/percussion tie this album together.
And i sure love my percussion. Crunchy bass
and some really nice guitar playing that
plays around the drums and supports it make
this album into a pretty cohesive mass of
stoner/hardcore goodness without sounding
overwelming as the band always finds ways to
let the music and the listener breath. |

Hololive Idol Project Shiranui Construction - Scrap & Build ! |
This EP is a musical project by the five member group Shiranui Construction, a team focussed on building structures in the various hololive minecraft servers. I suspect this EP will be a lot more interesting for fans of the group. As my japanese is not very good, I can only assume that the lyrics are peppered with fun call-backs to their virtual adventures. Most of what is left is a fairly well crafted, hyperactive pop EP with some great singers from hololive. One big standout track is the dramatic rock banger Run or Run, definitely one of the best hololive group songs of the year. |
Hololive Idol Project Yamato Phantasia |
Fubuki, Mio, Miko and Ayame are on this album. This is kind of the 2023 holo summer EP. A bunch of solo songs from these four members have been rerecorded with added traditional instruments for this release and it also features new seasonal songs. |
Hololive Idol Project Bouquet (Midnight Ver.) |
A remixed version of the Bouquet album. This is basically lo-fi beats to study to with hololive. They would soon expand on this idea with the Hololive Music Studio project, under which a bunch more lo-fi remixes in different styles have been released. |
Hololive Music Studio Sunshine |
A bossa nova remix album of a bunch of hololive songs, creating a summary warm vibe. Happy studying. |

Vocals are pretty mid but there is potential for this band. Second track goes a lot harder than the first tbh, actually playlist worthy. Third song is early the ocean worship (not like the whole aesthetic of the album isn't already that lul). That groove in Pangaea's second half goes hard. The EP continues to go hard and groove along from there on. |

Ministry The Land of Rape and Honey |
enjoying the initial style here but the album kind of goes nowhere, is too repetitive and also really peeters out towards the end. good beats, great sound but little payoff. Abortive as the final track is a crime, that thing actively annoys me. |
Ministry The Mind Is a Terrible Thing to Taste |
Ministry Dark Side of the Spoon |
Liking some of the stuff on here, its a very esoteric record with great production, which evokes a delirious and drugged out vibe. Overall though, this is a less exciting listening experience than most of their previous records. Having jammed this 4 times now there is little that really stuck with me besides the vibes. Pretty big downward slant from the career high that was Filth Pig. This album is similar to Rape & Honey in that it just peters out, 10/10 is not a worthy album closer and Dialogue as the actual last track is just annoying and completely skippable. Nursing Home is my fav track on here. Might be my least fav ministry album so far, but I can still appreciate it for its unique atmosphere and experimentation. |
Ministry Relapse |
Double Tab fucking goes. Otherwise this album is uuuuh decently enjoyable to mildly mid, might be their worst album up to this point. |

Omaru Polka Welcome to POLKA! |
This EP has some of the most poignant and experimental songs in all of hololive, like Persona and EverBlue. Then there is Po. Probably the most annoying, nay, obnoxious song to ever come out of hololive. Then there are another four more traditional swingy and poppy songs on here. Polka really brought the whole circus. Her vocal inflection might be an aquired taste to some but it does fit the aesthetic. |
Oozora Subaru Pleiades! |
Included are Subaru's first two singles and two exclusive covers of popular songs Fansa and Kanade. Subaru is by no means the best singer in hololive and while she does have some chops, the real standout quality of her music is the boundless energy she seems to exude. Also the two singles have some pretty cool instrumental sections. High energy only here. |
Oozora Subaru Pleiades |
Listened to this album a whole lot over the last month, ever since it came out while I was travelling through Japan. The first time I heard the opener Hoshiakari it absolutely blew me away and instantly became one of my favorite hololive songs. The rest of the album is also pretty good ranging from other tracks I love like Hot Duck! to some more bland idol pop stuff. The good thing is that it always remains incredibly upbeat and positive, Subaru just has that energy and perfectly transports it with her singing. The oozora police closer is also fun. I had a hard time deciding between a 3.5 and 4.0 on this one but ended up going for a high 3.5 for now. Either way enjoyed the album experience quite a bit more than I thought I would initially. Definitely check out Hoshiakari, its one of the brightest, most uplifting idol rock jams I've ever heard. |

Opeth Sorceress |
Had a nice listen outside with a beer and a little nicotin just now. Sorceress is almost as beautiful as pale communion and heritage were but not quite the same level. I still feel this can grow on me as this was my fifth or so full listen to it. Outstanding tracks are seventh sojourn and strange brew, although the singles are also really good, especially wilde flowers. The track i cared least about is chrysalis so far. The two bonus tracks and three live tracks are a nice addition, especially the great acoustic outbursts on the ward. |

Shirakami Fubuki Shirakami FINE!! |
Technically a collaborative EP with Tomato Gummy, this EP only consists of three songs and their instrumental counterparts. Fubuki in 2019 was not as proficient a singer compared to some of her peers in hololive like AZKi or Sora. Nonetheless, her voice has a very endearing denpa quality to it that lends itself well to these loose rock tracks. And yes you're hearing that right, there are harsh vocals on the third track. Harsh vocals on a hololive song, thats unheard of?!?!? Not quite, but it was definitely a unique element in 2019 and for some years to come. Fun little early EP right here. |
Shirakami Fubuki FBKINGDOM "Blessing" |
This album has grown on me so much. Started out as a 2.5 but there really are quite a lot of great songs on here. Granted there are still a couple of bland jpop tracks and the rather horrendous Supernova, which opens up the album, just like its cousin Pathfinder on Suisei's new album. Those two together with some of the tracks on last years Hakos Baelz album really paint a worrying trend of millenial/contemporary pop garbage music that I just can't get behind, no matter how many times I give those songs a try. Highlights on this one include the always infectious and classic Say!Fanfare! from 2020 (that was actually one of the first hololive original songs I've ever heard, together with Aki's Shallys. Other highlights include the mindbending Bitpop of KINGWORLD and the rocky Senko no yoni, Kiminosukipi and especially Kon Kon Beats, which is an extreme earworm. |
Shishiro Botan Lights |
Botan has a pretty unique voice and music taste within hololive, leaning more towards heavy and atmospheric electronic instrumentals while her voice is pretty light and almost angelic. The EP delivers plenty of that to a satisfying degree. |

I was always a big fan of loic's vocals, he
always seems to put all his heart into a
performance. It should be no suprise then that
i also love the vocals on this album,
especially on metaphysics and epiphany but
ptolemy also builds up beautifully. My biggest
gripe with this album however is the
production which leans to the side of
"natural" recording a bit too much which makes
the album sound very muddled at times. The
riffs also dont seem to be as effective and
varied as they are on most of the other the
ocean releases. Still, this is a fairly
interesting concept album and a fascinating

The first four songs on this album are all twinkly upbeat pop songs which limits my enjoyment of this album a little bit since thats not exactly up my alley. Sora's extremely high notes can also become a bit grating on here. After the first four songs, the album opens up to a lot of variety in styles but stays firmly in the pop region with some rock, electronica and other stuff sprinkled in. Its a good time. Overall probably still my least favorite full Sora album. |

This is topnotch british death metal with
many doom elements, punchy bolt throwery
grooves and many m/ riffs. Unfortunately the
vocals dont fit the music. They are very
pained, kinda high pitched. They could be
compared to lindbergs vocals on the newest at
the gates album or disbelief's
jaeger in his most strained moments. That
does not mean that van drunens vocals are
bad, they just dont fit the music here
for me and distract from it. Thats a shame
since this album could be a 4.0 with more
suitable vocals and far more enjoyable. |

the riffs and guitar melodies on this album are pretty standart, they can be boring and stale at times. In other occations it feels like they just recycled some riffs from my dying bride or swallow the sun. The overall melodies of some songs also heavily remind me of swallow the suns keyboard work. Thats not to say there are some beautiful moments on this disc, there are quite many. Its just an overall shallow taste of 'heard that before' that this album leaves behind. The harsh vocals are rather bad but i like the female vocals. Overall this album is good but it can be boring at times. |

Hololive Idol Project Hololive Summer 2022 |
Fairly enjoyable little EP for the 2022 hololive summer event. Definitely some faux nostalgia enducing tunes on here, highlight for me here is definitely Hololive Ondo, a track inspired by traditional japanese summer festival performances. |
Hololive Idol Project Poppin Kiss |
This is an odd release. Kind of like a tie-in for the PC game AIKISS2 in collaboration with hololive. Specifically AZKi, Miko and Marine sing on here. Technically this was not released under the Hololive Idol Project label but there really isn't another sensible place to slot this in with apart from creating its own annoying "band" page and I don't wanna do that. |
Hololive Idol Project NEGI☆U - ねぎゆーのパないうた |
One fun EDM banger as the opener and the rest is fairly bland group idol fair. Jammed this a couple times but didn't find that much memorable to latch onto besides PANIGHT! |

Is it just me or do a lot of the riffs on here just feel like nwobhm riffs but played faster? They don't gel that well with the harsh vocals for me. Some songs like Dying Victims also feel directly ripped from the Slayer handbook, which is to be expected. Overall I kinda expected to enjoy this debut more than I ended up doing. Songwriting is very bare-bones and uninteresting and the whole album is a blur of aggressive but flat sounding ragers. Son of Evil is probably my fav cut on here because it portrays some dynamics. |

Overkill The Grinding Wheel |
As individual tracks, that fast paced repetitive but energetic punk approach to thrash metal can be pretty enjoyable. doesnt really work on a whole album full of those songs tho, especially when they are frequently overlong. there is a reason why punk songs are usually short. also the vocals could be quite grating and repetitive for the listener especially in the choruses. fav tracks: Mean, Green, Killing Machine, The Wheel |

i can appreciate the concept of this album,
pain of salvations concrete lake album had a
similar aesthetic but this has much better
instrumentation and vocals. Edit: lol punked
this album hardly has a consistent concept and
the instrumentation isnt even comparable to
the pain of salvation album, i just saw the
album cover and two song names and drew the
comparison like the stupid ugly birb that i
am. |

Sakura Miko Heart Connect |
Sweet little EP with Miko's trademark baby vocals which are certainly an aquired taste. I
think they work really well on her 7 minute trance track "Kagetsu no Yume" but that one is
sadly abscent here. Heart Connect is still enjoyable for someone who is into sugary sweet
idol pop but that's not necessarily me. |
Sakura Miko Flower Rhapsody |
Just like her EP a few years back this really isn't the kind of music I'd listen to if it wasn't connected to hololive. There are some decent songs on here, Sakura Day's probably being my favorite, and its all generally well produced and fun but nothing that would stick with me long-term, nothing I'd feel wanting to return to. My favorite miko song remains her 6 minute trance banger from 2021. |

I could not bare to listen to more than three songs from this. the vocals are unbearable. the instrumentation is mostly djent degeneracy. Nothing I would ever return to. Edit: I've previously given this a 1 which is pretty well reflected in this old soundoff lol. I actually don't mind the music on here nowadays, kinda slaps actually. |

Soilwork Sworn to a Great Divide |
Yeah so production is pretty ass on this, you can hear clipping and channels battling each other pretty frequently on here. Doesn't help that this guitar tone is so fuzzy either. I do like it but it kinda hurts a bit to listen to after a while coupled with the production. Overall a fairly solid album with a couple of standout tracks. I am now of the firm opinion that Soilwork has never truly released a bad album but this is certainly their weakest. |
SorAZ 紅藍クロニクル |
Technically only one song in three different arrangements plus the instrumental version. This marks the second collaborative song between Sora and AZKi and the first song under their SorAZ duo name. Definitely a very powerful jam. |

Really like the tone of this album, some nice riffs and vocals. Sadly the album quickly loses steam as it doesnt care to ever change up the formula much. Riffs get repeated ad nauseum which is surely a hallmark for doom releases like this one but its too much even for the genre standards.r |

The Cure Three Imaginary Boys |
Early not-yet fully formed The Cure are an interesting jam if a bit rocky at times. Some stinkers on here, some great songs. Fav is def Three Imaginary Boys. Either way a good idea to jam this as a Cure fan just to see where there started off. |
The Human Experience Broken Open |
The Mountain Goats Goths |
The Ocean Aeolian |
After jamming this album again today I have come to the conclusion that this is probably The Ocean's worst studio album. Most of it is fairly average metallic hardcore fair and the album doesnt have a good sense of flow. However it does have two outstanding tracks which would be the crushing opener "City in the Sea" and the more adventurous "Queen of the Food-Chain". Its not a bad album by any means but a low point for the bands standards. |

Tokino Sora My Loving |
A bit more focussed on idol-like pop songs compared to Sora's debut album, this EP nonetheless features the first powerful collaboration song with AZKi, which will culminate in the two forming the SorAZ duo shortly after. There is some good stuff on here but I don't find myself enjoying this as much as Dreaming! overall. |
