Long Island "aggressive progressive" band Moon Tooth is the brainchild of childhood friends Nick Lee (guitar) & Ray Marte (drums). The band formed shortly after the breakup of their previous group, Exemption, which released several albums and gained a modest local following over its 9-year run from 2003 to 2012. Long Island "aggressive progressive" band Moon Tooth is the brainchild of childhood friends Nick Lee (guitar) & Ray Marte (drums). The band formed shortly after the breakup of their previous group, Exemption, which released several albums and gained a modest local following over its 9-year run from 2003 to 2012. Seeking to start a new band with a more eclectic, aggressive style than that of Exemption, Lee and Marte enlisted friends John Carbone (Rice Cultivation Society/Son Abrenoc) on vocals and Vincent Romanelli (Give Up The Goods, Painted In Exile) on bass. The newly formed Moon Tooth wasted no time releasing their debut EP, entitled Freaks, in mid-2013. The band self-released their first full-length,Chromaparagon, in early 2016, and embarked on a nationwide tour in support of the album alongside Intronaut and Entheoslater in that year. After spending most of 2018 writing and recording in the studio, Moon Tooth officially announced that their sophomore album,Crux, would be released in March of 2019.
