Strange, I thought the opening track was incredible and then literally everything after that totally unremarkable. I was catfished.

The titles of the first and fourth song also describe my penis.

Funny, mine is number 8

Sorry to lay this in the wrong thread but the dangerous summer feature should be updated that’s kind of a grotesque summary (staff, wtf?)

Why not bring it up in the Dangerous Summer thread instead?

I have absolutely zero context and don’t know anything about that band, what’s the problem?
Yeah it seems crass or whatever but we’re not exactly the most politically correct bunch man

It appears that it's a direct reference to a lyric by the band being dissected. But uh yeah, the thread's thataways, go get it!
WHY is nobody talking about Silver Dollars, have ye not a heart betwixt thee? Dewi I am sorry for the Mariner II mislead, but it's really Persson's guitar leading me down that rabbit hole (he even finishes a song here with some chord phrasing (patent lost in the post) that is present on Mariner and I think further afield in CoL's work, hmu if you want me to expand on exactly where but it's really not that interesting probably

Dewi it must be epic

"Strange, I thought the opening track was incredible and then literally everything after that totally unremarkable. I was catfished."
this was frighteningly accurate after one spin, but the second revealed there is maybe slightly more in the tank. I'm currently fearful it'll tow the line between being tentatively enticing enough to persevere with, yet never really rousing me getting beyond that... but I'll reserve judgement until spin #3 at least
and yeah the Mariner claims are maybe misleading tbh, even if I could contort my cognition into kinda getting it

I totally get Mariner vibes here and there, like Supernatural is basically just CoL / Johanness riffage condensed to a standard verse-chorus song, even with a (synth?) melody that feels like the one used in Cold Burn (and many other post-Vertikal parts, closing section of Cygnus also comes to mind). The same goes with the riff in End of the World etc... not that it's a bad thing of course, it still slaps, but can get a little repetitive, so I tend to prefer more experimental stuff presented here, like Not Enough or Silver Dollars.

Her first album honestly blew me away, and i think these two records deserve more attention than any of her collaborations or bands. It’s all great, don’t get me wrong. But these two albums are seriously special

I can hear elements of the overall sound, but not necessarily to the extent of obvious comparison. It's not a big deal tho, whatever conjures up in one's mind may vary depending on xyz whateva perspective. I was just wondering whether someone expecting Mariner II may be disappointed after reading the summary
yeah "Not Enough" is the easy standout for me so far

Anyone else kind of bothered by how terrible a lot of the lyrics are? Sometimes distractingly so. This record could be .5 or 1 point higher if the lyrics were better
