| Although I do agree with some reviewers that this release has many formulaic moments, they definitely make up for it by lyrics that are atypical for hardcore (for the most part). Especially for a debut release, this band has a lot of potential and can definitely rise to greatness considering the current state of hardcore. Major acts like Have Heart are calling it quits and the metalcore fad is slowly dying, bands like this have a chance to become heavy-hitters in this genre. |

| Besides a few songs on this cd, this album is a classic and I'm not afraid to say it. The songs all have a unique aspect to them and vocals are the only part to Unearth that seem to be nothing special. However, this release is definitely a must for any metalcore fan. The Oncoming Storm has decent lyrics, occasional solos, spectacular song dynamics and the ability to not sound generic. Many contend that metalcore is too formulaic, but this album definitely trys to debate that point by having unique breakdowns and songs typically without filler. |
