Deep Indeed & Rosemary's Baby are forgettable shit takes. Tower of Genus is an excellent cover, while Subtlety is probably the highlight if you fancy oldschool DiG. The real kicker of this album are the Sammy Davis Jr Jr songs (don't ask); a project Pete and Co. never had a chance to make a reality until just recently. Prayer for Motivation features Jamie Lenman (i assume) achieving some haunting vocals, while Rupert Morris from UK hardcore outfit BATS rocks All Things As They Should Be. all in all this short EP makes for a fantastic bookend for the already stellar Down I Go discography.

Look, i get what they're going for. just a bit too noodly for my taste. i think prog is best when elements of the song are allowed time to develop, and the breakneck pace of theme shifts within seconds of another doesn't do much for me. but, well produced and clearly a lot of passion put into this. will likely never listen again.

Rings of Saturn Embryonic Anomaly
i'll admit, after a little while i was jamming along to it. still not very good though, technical to a fault and too breakdown-heavy for my taste.
Serj Tankian Imperfect Harmonies
i desperately wanted to like this album. Serj has been a long time favorite of mine, and in my mind, Elect the Dead was essentially just a 6th SOAD album. I was expecting the same from this album, but I was left disappointed. I fully appreciate Serj and his musical talents, and I don't think there's anything wrong with him exploring other types of music. hopefully i'll be able to enjoy his other solo efforts as that seems to be what he's focusing on nowadays, but in the meantime I'll be patiently waiting for System to get back together.
