5.0 classic
Arcade Fire Funeral
Funeral is such a complete album, each song leads into the next somehow. The end of the album brings such disappointment, that it didn't continue on. Funeral has such a full sound, but so raw at the same time. The album is strong in all departments and has no boring moment.
John Mayer Continuum
This album is stunning really, every song has intelligent lyrics, solid musicianship and just great flow. Mayer is a brilliant guitarist and he presents his skills throughout the album. I really enjoy and respect all the songs on this album, I really don't think there are any weaknesses.
Sigur Ros ( )
This is probably my favourite Sigur Ros Album. It's briliant, I believe it's every bit as solid as it's predecessor. It was a challenging concept, knowing no song titles or lyrics, but makes it all the more brilliant just listening to the album as a bunch of movements. It's beautiful, dark, personal and ridiculously moving.
Thrice The Artist in the Ambulance
This is the first album I ever heard by Thrice. The album is powerful throughout with quite a lot of variation. Thrice explore different structures, time signatures, dynamics and degree's of heaviness. The Lyrical content is supurb, and quite unique compared the usual suicide/kill/anger/hate/love themes evident in a lot of heavy music.
4.5 superb
AFI Sing the Sorrow
Solid album, such a step forward from The Art Of Drowning. Excellent drumming, guitar work, vocals and bass. The only weakness in my opinion is the often repetitive nature of the album. Never the less it's a fantastic album.
Audioslave Audioslave
Audioslave seemed to go downhill from this point. The vocals are absolutely fantastic, Cornell many a time singing melodies completely external from the riffs underneath. I love every song off this album, and appreciate the variety in tones and styles.
Brand New The Devil and God Are Raging Inside Me
Godspeed You! Black Emperor F♯ A♯ ∞
Red Hot Chili Peppers Stadium Arcadium
This is the first Red Hot album I heard entirely. This maybe a disadvantage or an advantage depending on your opinion of their discography. I disliked this album emensly upon purchase. As I listened more, I discovered the insane talent of the band. This album has so many styles, structures, changes and awesome moments.
Sigur Ros Agætis byrjun
The Butterfly Effect Imago
The album is consitantly awesome throughout. The bass lines are probably some of my favourite bass lines ever. The guitarwork is unqiue and complex. The vocals are strong and emotional with exceptionally well crafted lyrics. Drumming is very solid, and really completes the tight unit that The Butterfly effect it. The album is heavy at times, so emotional at times and contains so many different elements and structures.
Thrice Vheissu
What an epic album. Vhessu isn't as complete as The Artist in the Ambulance. Each song has different tones and instrumentation. I don't think it works as an album. However each song is absolutely brilliant, there are so many brutally heavy moments, quietly moving moments and some uniquely amazing lyrics. All in all, it's a unreal album with lots of variety.
Thursday A City By the Light Divided
I believe Thursday really stepped up after War All The Time with this album. It's beautiful, and dense. It's such a real and full recording, which definitly adds to it's album quality. What I really enjoy and respect is their ability to create intense moments that create chaos in me. Definitly underatted.
