| Beautiful record. Very much a slow burn, but the production is amazing and the atmosphere is off the wall. Ending track has been on repeat for a long, long time tonight. |
| Alora Crucible Oak Lace Apparition |
| Though I may personally like the more guitar driven approach of Thymiamatascension, it's completely clear that this new album is just on another level with it's songwriting, production and cohesiveness. rMight be the most lush record that he's ever made. Might 5 this after spinning it throughout the Fall. |

| I don't know what else to say about this album other than it made a fucking significant impression on me upon first listen. They sound like they had an insane amount of fun making it, and I think it shows through how playful and cohesive the entire album is. rThe back half (Mirador thru Beautifully Human) is the strongest collection of BTBAM songs in sequence that I can think of, and the title track is legitimately unexpectedly beautiful and sentimental in it's unabashed cheesiness. Absolute banger of an album. |

| Deafheaven's best album by an incredibly large margin. They crunched the numbers and managed to take the best elements of all of their prior offerings and inject them with steroids. rThe compositions are off the fucking chain, the vocals are nasty, and the reverb is bricked to the fucking tits. |

Cedric's best vocal performance both singing and lyrically. He built a brand off of being
cryptic and completely unhinged, which makes it all the more poetic and powerful that all he
really needed to do was dig deep internally. Omar's guitar is missing through the first half
save a geet solo here or there, but he ends up dominating the lion's share of powerful
moments after Vigil, the album's centerpiece. His melody at the end of Cerulea is one of the
saddest guitar lines I've ever heard emotionally, especially given the lyrical context of the
song. The album belongs mostly to Cedric and Marcel, who takes the shred Omar gave during
the early output and applies it to his keys. He pulls out insane jazz runs, groovy soul
chords and some downright crazy noise on a few tracks. Better than Octahedron, Bedlam In
Goliath and Noctourniquet.
There's two tracks on here that have the classic Volta spirit, too. |

If you enjoyed 'Exoplanet' and 'Intrinsic' from The Contortionist, you are 99.95% guaranteed to
enjoy the way this album plays out. It obviously doesn't have the production polish that those
albums have, but it definitely gives this album character for where the songs go. The transitions
on these songs are truly nuts, and Carpenter's vocal work is a treasure. |

Some of you are going to hate this one, but
it wouldn't be a KD album without defying
audience expectations anyhow.
It's funny that this album was talked about
as being a reunification of a lot of the crew
on Choirs of The Eye, because this album
shares a lot of sonic qualities with music
from it's sibling Dowsing Anemone With Copper
Tongue and Stained Glass.
It's very minimalistic and drone focused. I
think this is one of the most atmospheric
albums they've ever released, which makes the
more "structured" tracks hit like a truck.
Automatic Writing and Blind Creature of Slime
are an insane half hour of music. |
