4.5 superb
Alkaline Trio Good Mourning
Matt's voice on this record has reached new heights of amazing. The band has managed to craft a whole album of legitimately interesting, catchy pop-punk tunes, and inject them with punk rock feeling and their standard angsty imagery. Great record.

I really like this album. It's minimalist, aggressive, and clean. Songwriting is simple but the message is there. Hope they don't stop
Brand New Your Favorite Weapon
Car Seat Headrest Teens of Denial
The songs are classic. The music is simple but catchy, indie pop arrangements with a rock flavor. But it's Will's vocal performance and lyrics that tie this whole experience together. "Drunk Drivers/Killer Whales" and "Cosmic Hero" can singlehandedly bring me to tears, and that is rare as hell.

The rawer side of pop-punk I've been missing from the music scene since 2006. Not as needlessly core-influenced as ADTR, but still heavier than the modern New Pop Punk bands.

The album has great moments, both in its disco persona and rock persona. "Faith" is badass, easily one of Ghost's heaviest songs. "See the Light" is hard rocking and has a fantastic double meaning. "Witch Image" and "Rats" are examples of glorious '80s cock rock. This album slaps.

This album is a punk album, played by really talented musicians, recorded with excellent production, and with a fuck ton of attitude. It's an all around win.

Got me out of my emo phase and into "real punk rock," and for that I will be eternally grateful. "Entertainment" is weird, "Hero of War" is just awful, and some of these songs are just absolutely amazing. "Collapse," "Re-education," and "Kotov Syndrome" come to mind.

Fun, accessible pop. Not really sure what all the "edgy" hate is about, I wouldn't call it too dark. Billie's got plenty of room to grow, though. Hopefully we can see her use her gift for simplistic imagery to take on more complex themes in a more mature manner.
