Not entirely sold on Greg providing vocals for ETID (their stuff works best with a looser,
fun style of vocals, while his are pretty controlled and serious), but if future releases
are as good as this, I will have faith in the boys

Edit: Fuck it, this is a 5. Greg fits perfectly and this is the best thing any of the
members have released in years (better than any ETID since Low Teens, better than any
Dillinger since Option Paralysis, Putney's best production since END's debut). Nice to hear
everyone on this sound hungry again.

Le Butcherettes A Raw Youth
Le Butcherettes realize their potential with A Raw Youth, with their best songwriting, lyrics, and instrumentals yet. Teri's vocals have never sounded so perfect and diverse, and she delivers some of her best performances yet, like the shrieked outro of "They *** You Over" and the vulnerable "Sold Less than Gold". Omar's bass is punchy and snakelike, and the drums feature complex fills which adds more depth to the album unlike any Le Butcherettes album before. Despite synthesizers often replacing the guitars and vice versa, there never seems to be a gap in the sound as the other instruments are all written well enough to make it nonexistent. The songwriting is also at the band's best here, as every song features phenomenal choruses, soaring vocals, and impactful rhythm sections.
The only thing preventing this from a classic rating is the fact that the two tracks "Lonely and Drunk" and "My Half" are not as focused and cohesive as the rest of the album. While they are not as strong as the rest of the album overall, "Lonely and Drunk" still features an explosive outro and "My Half's" production gives an interesting mix of guitar noodling, funky bass, and cryptic vocals. Personal favorite songs on the album are "La Uva", with Teri's sickly sweet voice contrasting Iggy Pop's deep throaty baritone, "Shave The Pride" with its hard hitting bass and confident vocals, and "My Mallely" with its infectious chorus. However, every song is worth owning on here and Le Butcherettes have established themselves as a strong contender for album of the year with this one. Le Butcherettes are not a band to be missed live, as the songs are as powerful to watch unfold as they are to listen to. Highly recommended.

I?ve never enjoyed Quicksand apart from a few songs here and there, most of which were from Interiors and they seemed to be another influential band that I could appreciate what came from them but couldn?t get into their music. This album proved me wrong, the mixing is fantastic and the songwriting is consistently engaging. It?s easily my favorite thing they?ve released so far.

Vein.fm This World Is Going to Ruin You
Vein is definitely following Slipknot's progression in sound, their second album is less fun and a lot darker than their first. It's less cohesive than the first and the production is not complimentary to the faster songs. The songwriting is great though and the new additions to their sound are welcome. Best tracks for me are Killing Womb, Inside Design, and Funeral Sound.

Maintains the rapping chemistry of the first few Clipse albums while taking the diverse creative pursuits that Pusha's solo albums went down, pushing them to new heights. At the very least this is a 4, and Birds Don't Sing is a strong contender for the best Clipse song. Powerful stuff.

Le Butcherettes Kiss & Kill
Their earliest, and most punk release. Some simple instrumentation and immature lyrics here and there but also filled with catchy choruses and strong performances.
Le Butcherettes Sin Sin Sin
Their rawest full length album, Sin Sin Sin lays out the ideas that Le Butcherettes would implement to form their sound, from funky synthesizers, hard hitting bass, and strong riffs. The songs only get better with repeated listens and I truly believe Teri will be the future of female-fronted rock music, the next PJ Harvey if you will. While I will concede that the music sounds superior live, the album provides plenty of reasons to come back and listen.

Bon Iver SABLE, fABLE
So glad I didn?t stop listening after Sable, because as bland as those songs are, the following Fable is strong enough to
recontextualize i,i for me, an album I largely felt was a bland and unnecessary detour from the grand artistic statements
that I?d grown used to with Justin Vernon?s music. Fable maintains that simplicity with greater focus, and most
importantly, an artistic progression that simultaneously feels like a more cooperative band effort, while also being back
to basics. Maybe not a masterpiece on the level of the first three albums, but I?m pleasantly surprised by how much I
enjoyed it and that it rekindled my love for his music.

Love that the hip-hop influence is back for the first time in many albums, best production since KNY, best Stef riffs since then too, and Chino has come off of autopilot after his lackluster Ohms performance. Good stuff, didn't expect to like this as much as I do.

Every Time I Die Radical
It's the songwriting of Ex Lives mixed with the production of Low Teens. It works and theres a handful of highlights, but a lot of the songs in the middle are undercooked and don't have much to make them standout. Singles are all great with a few deep cuts that will be welcome additions to the setlist. Keith's vocals are a step above (most of) Low Teens and are the best they've ever been, and his lyricism is up there too. After relistening to their whole discography with this as the conclusion, this isn't the album that Low Teens was, their genre defining magnum opus, where ETID broke free of being the underdog hardcore band who would always release quality albums but was always in the shadow of their influences. Radical is a quality album but it's also the first where they failed to top themselves, an album that lives in the shadow of its predecessor. It's going to get a lot of listens from me but for an album 5 years in the making, I'm a bit disappointed that ETID's career long run of improving themselves with every album stops, or at least pauses, here.

Queens of the Stone Age In Times New Roman...
Regains some of the confidence that Villains was missing, and the mix ties the different sounds together much more nicely than on that album (and no more hideous buzzy guitar tone). First half of the album is much stronger than the back half and there's a couple clear filler tracks, but overall I'm satisfied, even if there aren't any major standouts

Better Lovers Highly Irresponsible
Relistened to the EP (which I eventually gave a 5) and singles after hearing this to check to see if there was as big of a quality difference as it seemed between this album and their previous releases and unfortunately I stand by my initial impressions. A lot of the songs on here are solid but the low end is way too high in the mix. Jordan is the star of the show in this band and you can barely hear him here, where on the EP everything was mixed appropriately. Maybe this will grow on me, but I'm pretty disappointed as things stand now.

Might be my favorite Converge release but this remaster is pretty dull. It removes the
texture and samples that helped make it such a special EP. Original artwork was better too.
This is too similar to the new Napalm Death album, which I doubt Converge hadn't listened to
at the time of this release.

I hate deliberate throwback or retro style records, but this is a nice showing of a band playing to their influences. I wish the whole album had the whimsical guitar sound of Unicorn Farm and was a little weirder, but this vocal styling is much more complimentary to their singer and there?s enough interesting stuff here to hold my attention. Oh, it should?ve been a few songs shorter too. I ought to check out Low Country.

Chino is on autopilot for most of this. Really lacks the variety the debut album had. Collab tracks, title track, and Invisible Hand are good though.

Kvelertak Endling
Band seems to be running low on riff ideas. This album seems to try and harken back to the first two releases in terms of tempo, but what made those two albums special was the quality and quantity of riffs in every song. The songs here rely on a handful of riffs that fail to stand out. There's some good choruses here and there but nothing particularly memorable. For the mixed bag that Splid was, I think there are at least 5 songs on that record that could be considered career highs. I don't think there's anything on Endling that reaches those heights. The singer seems to be the only one trying to come up with interesting stuff.r
Leonard Cohen I'm Your Man
Mastodon Hushed and Grim
Unfortunately a set of very formulaic Prog-stodon songs with a handful of new ingredients thrown into the mix here and there to attempt "experimentation". Brent was the source of the truly weird stuff that made the band's songwriting stand out, so it's no real surprise that an album where his contributions are sidelined results in most of the songs sounding the same. Cold Dark Place takes this album's sound and adds much more interesting layers to it, which makes sense that it's the most Brent-centric release in over a decade. Also it irritates me how just about every song here has a bizarre, unique title, but the lyrics are the most boring, basic shit ever. I wanted to like this but it's easily my least favorite Mastodon album and outside the fun closing song, nothing here stood out in the slightest.

Fleshwater 2000: In Search of the Endless Sky
While the debut had some truly exciting twists and turns in each song, this just feels like a mess. The big moments on WNHTBL felt earned, but here it feels like each track blows its proverbial load at near random points. The singles are decent but don't hold a candle to any of the songs on the debut. This was really disappointing.
Jay-Z and Kanye West Watch the Throne
Kendrick Lamar DAMN.
Kvelertak Nattesferd
Sounds like a demo, nothing on this album, from performances, to songwriting, to production holds a candle to anything on their other albums. The best song on here (Nattesferd) would easily be the weakest on any other Kvelertak album.
