It included many greats of that eras scene including Hellhammer, Euronymous, and Varg. While many say the album is utter shit on these forums there is a reason that this album has influenced hordes of new bands. It is not because the riffing is super technical, or because it is very catchy. It is because of the dark feeling throughout the whole cd that captures what the early black metallers where attempting to capture. Ugly, dark music, that was a revolt against the current metal scene of the days. The album has a less "static" sound with very little reverb and pretty clear guitar sounds. Fenriz pounds away on drums which are as always shittily produced. Many feel the vocals are too raw, I say they are great. No reverb no nothing, just straight up Nocturno Culto without any modification. The first track sets the tempo and mood right away with some bad vibes enhanced by some samples concerning suicide. The album uses dark synth melodies with driving and pounding drums to create a sinister yet almost dancy feel. Certainly the verse of songs like "Cause of Death: Suicide" will remind of techno somewhat, although a fucked up twisted version of techno. The intro track is probably the best song on this cd, and it isn't even that captivating to be honest with you. The problem here is the fact that Wrest can't decide whether to use this project to make black metal or ambient. I think the two don't mix when you have a few minutes of one and a few minutes of the other, it's a very non-smooth song flow that makes songs sound very thrown together and inorganic (which is something that ambient cannot survive -> sounding inorganic).
