5.0 classic
Guns N' Roses Appetite for Destruction
KISS Alive!
I give this album the highest possible rating! This was really where KISS started the high point of their carrier and finally delivered energetic, awesome sounding performances of the best songs from the first three albums. This album is the perfect summary of everything up to this point in their carrier. 5 out of 5!
KISS Destroyer
Following the success of "Alive" KISS went back into the studio and created a masterpiece! "Destroyer" has awesome sound quality and some of the bands best songs ever. There isn't a bad track on the album. I know that many fans don't like the ballad, "Beth," but I think it's a great song.
KISS Alive II
This sequel to "Alive" came after another three studio albums, but this time, KISS also threw in one album side of new studio tracks. "Alive II" is an essential KISS album for the energetic live performances of the best songs from the previous three studio albums as well as some great new studio tracks. 5 out of 5!

4.5 superb
KISS Dressed to Kill
The sound quality of Dressed to Kill is better than the first two KISS records and this album includes probably their most famous song "Rock and Roll all Nite" as well as several other classics for the band. The sound quality still hadn't reached its peak and some of the songs on this album weren't their best, but this is still a great album!
KISS Love Gun
With another great album cover and an album full of awesome songs, "Love Gun" is just shy of being as good as "Destroyer." The sound quality is great and almost all of the songs are classics making it worth picking up for the tracks not available on "Alive II" or "Double Platinum."

4.0 excellent
KISS KISS
The first KISS album includes many of their best songs, but they lose points with the sound quality which could have been better. I prefer the live versions of each of these songs that are on "Alive" over these recordings. Had the sound quality been better, this album would easily have been a 5 for me.
KISS Creatures of the Night
I think "Creatures of the Night" is an underrated album. By this time, the musical direction had changed significantly from what KISS was doing at their peak in the 70's. This would be their last album with the famous makeup before taking it off for the 80's and the music may not have matched what people expected from the band, but with this album, they came back to making hard rocking music. The songs are great, the performances are great and the sound quality is great. Most of these songs aren't classics, but a few like "I Love It Loud," "War Machine" and "Creatures of the Night" are classics. The rest of the songs are good songs too, just not classics.
Various Artists (Rock) Dressed To Thrill: A Tribute to KISS with Female V
There are dozens of KISS Tribute albums out there. "Dressed To Thrill: A Tribute to KISS with Female Vocalists" stands out mainly because all of the singers are female. That's why I bought it, but it turned out to be one of the better KISS Tribute albums in terms of cool, unexpected covers of KISS songs too. I'd never heard of most of these bands and several of them turned out to be really good!

3.5 great
KISS Hotter Than Hell
Much like their first album, Hotter Than Hell contains several great, classic KISS songs, but the sound quality of the recording keeps me from giving it a higher rating. I prefer the versions of each of these songs that appears on the "Alive" album.
KISS Rock and Roll Over
Although it's still a great album with great sound quality, "Rock and Roll Over" is a step backwards from "Destroyer" in terms of song writing and album cover. There are a few great songs on here, but anything essential appears on both "Alive II" and "Double Platinum."

3.0 good
KISS Dynasty
Not counting the 4 solo albums released by each member of the band just prior to the "Dynasty" album, this is where the band started to falter. Paul Stanley brought some solid songs to this album and it's nice that Ace was singing more. However, the additional Ace songs meant that Gene only sang lead on two tracks and Paul's songs were more pop or disco than the hard rock that he's been delivering. The album isn't bad, but it's certainly not the hard rocking music that KISS fans had come to expect over the previous few years.

2.5 average
KISS Unmasked
By this point, KISS was slipping. The only great songs on this album were Ace's songs. All three of Gene's songs felt like he wasn't really trying anymore and Paul's songs on this album were sappy, 70's pop filler. This was also the last album to credit the original lineup (even though by this point, Peter wasn't really playing drums on most of the songs).

1.5 very poor
KISS Music from The Elder
I'm a KISS fan, but I can't listen to this album. Every couple of years, I get it out and try, but they were just way off track here. I will admit that the sound quality is good and the performances are good. I really feel bad for Eric Carr who was the new drummer at the time because this album was so unlike KISS. The songwriting is just not right for the band at all. I do have a new appreciation for the song "A World Without Heroes" after hearing the band "October Layne" perform their version of the song on the "Dressed to Thrill" Tribute CD. Aside from that, I don't like any of the songs on this one. I think this is the worst KISS album and the only reason that I don't give it a 1 is I do think the sound quality and performances are good despite the poor songwriting.
