So Dragonlord might be downright plagiarising 90's symphonic black metal , but they do it with such conviction that it is
close to as good as the real thing. Not often do I hear bands that are able to capture the black metal sound of the 90's as
well as these guys. This is definitely not anything new under the black sun, but it is a hella fun hurdle down memory lane.
Think early Dimmu Borgir meets Cradle of Filth meets Old Man's Child, with a hint of Testament riffage. A pretty decent
brew indeed. |

| I agree that Shu makes Galneryus amazing. He is also the saving grace that keeps the Galneryus battleship afloat. This album has great instrumentation, but the songwriting is not memorable. The choruses are as conveyer-belt mass productions as can be, and the vocals are just above par. I miss the first singer. He might not be as technical as this guy, but at least he had a personal touch, which is something most Japanese metal vocalists are lacking. With the exception of Toshi and Anchang of course. Not a bad album, just not something I will come back to. |

I'm pretty much disappointed with this album. Wormwood showed enormous potential with
"Ghostlands," which harkened back to the glory days of Scandinavian folk metal. Not since
Vintersorg's "Till Fjells," Thyrfing's "Vansinnesvisor," or Windir's "1184" had any bands
successfully invoked such atmospheres of the majestic north as Wormwood did on their debut.
Sadly, they have since opted for a run-of-the-mill mishmash of blackgaze and folk metal,
which is a dime a dozen these days. It's solid, for sure, but far from rekindling any folk
metal flames of old. |

| I like what I hear a lot of the time, but most of the tracks feel more like fragments than full songs. I guess this is the point, that I should see them all in relation to each other. And I appreciate the concept, I just don't buy it. If the idea is to present the body of songs as one big piece of music, it is imperative that the songs flow well together. They shouldn't feel like separate fragments, but fit together like pieces in a puzzle. |

| The songwriting is so bland that it makes me constantly skip to the next track in boredom/annoyance. The only saving graces are the production and a handful of decent guitar solos. And don't get me started on Fabio. Worst singer they had. Matos was a God, and Falachi was a decent bandage. Fabio is technically god but he never does the heritage of Angra justice. They started out as one of the best power metal bands in history. It's time to get back on track! Hopefully, Kiko will return and help them return to their former glory. |

| Wildly overrated album. I only find two songs enjoyable, the opening track and the title track. The rest is just derivative sonic drivel. The previous album is a classic though. |
