Lighthouse is rather bad and some songs such as In the Backseat definitely stretch on the a bit too long side. Songs like Intervention, Keep the Car Running, and especially No Cars Go though slide the album a bit past their starter. It just has power and more feeling than their first album and does not wear thin.Carissa's Wierd Songs About LeavingOne of my recent favorites. Listed to this a bunch. Ignorant Piece of Shit is amazing and so are most of the rest.rWell then again, they have a violin in the background. Cannot say I dislike the album then.Dorena HolofonOne of the better post-rock albums out here.rSpecial note to the song "Till V?ning Tretton," the masterpiece of this album and one of my now favorite post rock songs period.rThe rest of the album is just as good but this song just makes it better.Elbow Leaders of the Free World4.7rThe perfect Elbow mix of heavy and light. While Picky Bugger and Mexican Standoff aren't exactly my favorite songs of theirs, the rest of the album is a goldmine for anyone into baroque pop brit-pop or alt indie.rRecommendations:rLeaders of the Free World (my personal favorite song of theirs) Station Approach, Forget Myself, My Very Best, Great ExpectationsWorld's End Girlfriend Hurtbreak Wonderland4.7: A lighter form of Rossz csillag alatt sz?letett, less risky but just as pretty.rIt is a mix of classical, glitch, break-beat, and post-rock. Majority of songs though fit under modern classical and glitch more than Post-Rock though. Cannot say more outside of this being one of the more interesting records released and one that draws a fine line between too much and too little in some of their songs. The second half of the album might be too grand for some but for those who can take it, you are rewarded with great tunes.4.0 excellentArcade Fire FuneralNot their best but definitely not their worst. The music wears thin eventually as the 2nd half of the album after the "Neighborhood" section with the exception of Crown of Love is rather bad in comparison. Am I the only Arcade Fire fan who actually seriously dislikes Rebellion and prefers Laika, Tunnels and Power Out?rIf the 2nd half of the album was even nearly as good as the first, this would be a 5, no questions asked.Elbow Cast of Thousands3.7 Their third best. Whenever a horn comes in, the album is a bit difficult to listen to. Otherwise, some of their best slow songs. Switching Off, Fugitive Motel, and Grace Under Pressure are the immediate highlights. Not a job is another for its quirkiness (see the lyrics.)rHighly Recommended:rFugitive MotelrGrace Under PressurerSwitching OffrRecommendedrNot A JobrRibcagerFallen AngelrNot so muchrI've Got Your NumberrButtons and ZipsrCrawling With IdiotrWhy?rFlying Dream 143rSnooks(Progress Report)Elbow The Seldom Seen Kid4.2rHere comes the boom....of Garvey's voice I mean. Probably their most accessible album and it does contain some of their potential best songs. Mirrorball is a wondrous love song filled with one of the better violin usage of any of their songs, One Day Like This is their magnum opus, and Friend of Ours is one of the greatest eulogies composed in a long time. The rest of the album is ok with no real weak songs but the flow of their previous album is not there.rHIGHLY recommendedr3. Mirrorballr10. One Day Like Thisr11. The climax happens to work somehow between the drums and the 8bit (only Funk.)rTache and Cancel are also solid, Tache being a bit better3.5 greatArcade Fire The SuburbsThis album drags wayyyyyyy too much. If they cut this album in half...well I wish.Sigur Ros Med Sud i Eyrum vid Spilum EndalaustI wish I could sing along with Inni m?r syngur vitleysingur. So catchy and so much fun.3.0 goodElbow Asleep In The Back2.8rA Mix of amazing and not so much. While some songs drag on, songs such as Red, Powder Blue, and the amazingly beautiful Scattered Blacks and Whites confirm what Elbow can eventually do. The album was a bit too moody and did not expose the wonder of Garvy's voice. It took a bit of the 2nd but especially the third album to do so.Venetian Snares Songs About My CatsHis average album, there, I said it. I prefer his others. Don't shoot me (maybe with drum beats.)2.5 averageThe Ascent of Everest How Lonely Sits the CityI enjoy post-rock. I like songs that drag on. These songs somehow drag on too long.rIf some of these songs were 1-4 minutes shorter, this would be much more listenable. It is too bad as Alas Alas! The Breath of Life! becomes wondrous but then it fades into the norm.2.0 poorVenetian Snares My So-Called LifeDisappointed is the key word here. It is basically a worse version of Rossz Csillag Alatt Sz?letett combined with a worse version of Cavalcade of Glee and Dadaist Happy Pom Poms.rSpecial note to Hajnal2 though for being a hilarious and well done parody of the original.
