Kvadrat The Horrible Dissonance of Oblivion
Maybe not innovative disso-black/death album, but still I really appreciate it if I see something so pretentiously well-written! It delivers the riffs, it builds up a cold atmosphere, and the production is spot on as well. Impressive release from a one-man band.		4.0

Darkthrone It Beckons Us All
First two tracks are some of their worst songs... With "Black Dawn Affiliation" it gets better (actually this is the best song on the album, by far) and remains consistently great until the end of "The Bird People Of Nordland". But again, the album closer duo of "The Heavy Hand" & "The Lone Pines Of The Lost Planet" really kills the mood... Honestly, more than the half of the album feels unfinished, tired and flat. The very old-school production can't save this from being disastrous. Biggest disappointment of the recent years.		2.9

Wolves in the Throne Room Black Cascade
I was too harsh on this for a very long time. But now, feeling down and broken, the dark beauty of this release could fully embrace me. I get it now.		4.7

Chained to the Bottom of the Ocean Obsession Destruction
Post-sludge which tested my patience. I personally hate this kind of boring wankery, especially the closer track was the worst. Altogether it's not bad though (because "Hole in My Head" exists), but it contains way too much irritating factors to be categorized as good. Oh yeah, the worst thing: those fucking distorted vocals are godawful! Monotonous, boring, way too loud in the mix - fire the vocalist and that moron who thought that adding a distortion effect will make the vocals sound better... bleh.		2.5

Black Label Society The Blessed Hellride
First half is a big snoozefest, but oh boy, the second half is truly special! Songs like "Blackened Waters" or "We Live No More" were absolute hits! So soulful, so... real.		3.5
