Black Country, New Road For the first time
I enjoyed the drums on this record quite a bit, but otherwise, this didn't do much for me.
The Antlers Green to Gold
It was very weird for the group that made the most emotionally devastating album I've ever to go towards a more happier, laid back sound, especially at the beginning at the record, but by the end, this became sort of comforting and warm, especially for a band that I've always known to be so cold.
Ariana Grande Yours Truly
With her still rising popularity, I feel like Grande always tried to go too far, which never really worked. This one feels so much more like her. The production lets her voice shine even more, and those silly lyrics work well, more than what she tried to do later in her career and failed.
Amy Winehouse Back to Black
Really interesting entry point into an even more fascinating artist, she has an incredible voice, her lyrics describe her life and persona perfectly, just a great record.
The National High Violet
It's a National album, so of course it's great, but I feel like this hit less than Boxer and Sleep Well Beast, for me, maybe after a few other listens, I'm gonna hold these 3 albums at the level, but for now, High Violet is slightly under, although Lemonworld and Vanderlyle Crybaby Geeks are 2 of the bands' greatest tracks.
Weyes Blood Front Row Seat to Earth
Titanic Rising is in my top 5 albums of all time, so I was very scared to go into Weyes Blood's other work by fear of disappointment. But I completely forgot what incredible ethereal experiences her albums here. Her lush, beautiful vocals are still present on this record, with those glorious gospel chorals in the background. I have to admit, I'm not too crazy on Side B, I feel like these tracks are the weakest of their entire career, even though it has some shining moments, in particular the closer Front Row, with its deranging psychedelic ambiance. I'm glad I didn't chicken out and listened to this, cause it was amazing. I love Weyes Blood.
Tyler, the Creator IGOR
I knew a lot of individual songs from this record, so I expected to be disappointed. But surprisingly I wasn't, I found the the tracks that I did not know were often my favorites, as good as when I first discovered the tracks I already knew. THis is what this album does I guess, it's incredibly fun at each relisten. A modern classic, dare I say.
