  • accompliceofmydeath people know as post-hardcore today. Influencing bands like Far, Glassjaw and Thursday who bear a stark resemblance to Quicksand vs the more rough around the edges bands like Hot Snakes, Unwound and Refused (though it could be argued those bands were influence by Quicksand, too). Quicksand also brought the sort of chugging sound to post-hardcore, too. Before them not many post-hardcore bands were playing down-tuned, heavy riffs like Quicksand

  • accompliceofmydeath Here is my Quicksand spiel: While I think the DC bands who a part of the Revolution Summer truly kicked off the whole post-hardcore movement, I think Quicksand helped morph it into what it would become. I look at the older post-hardcore movement as having two main branches; the more angular, discordant stuff like Drive Like Jehu and Hoover and the "poppier," for lack of a better term, like Quicksand and Fugazi.
