| mandan Ranking done. Let the complaints begin.
| mandan Yes, I'm planning to do a new ranking which most likely will piss off plenty of people. My music approach has changed in that I'm not big on album ratings anymore, but yes, owning up to one's taste can be controversial.
| mandan Hope you are doing well.
| rockandmetaljunkie Cathedral is one of a few selected bands I keep listening after all these years. Nowadays i am not as much into metal as i used to be, but cathedral is always on my rotation list. Glad you liked them! :D there's no other band that sounds quite like these guys!
| rockandmetaljunkie Sorry for the late answer, i'm in the middle of the Pacific ocean and good internet connection is scarce. You can definitely write one if you wish. I began writing one years ago, but never got around to finish it. I will definitely finish writing it one day and will upload it.

| Pangea Okay no prob, see you next month!
| Pangea Hey Run, do you have a song for sotd? the theme is nature https://www.sputnikmusic.com/list.php?listid=200646
| DePlazz https://www.sputnikmusic.com/review/85308/Toxik-Dis-Morta/
| parksungjoon theyre the same other than the vocals/lyrics afaik. i think only a few albums had those diff releases anyway

| MrSirLordGentleman wow who cares about the quality, I didn't even think it was ever played live. Amazing find bro!
| rockandmetaljunkie Oh well and what did you make of them? You're welcome in any time to drop a comment if you disagree with something
| budgie how you been brotha feel like i havent seen you post much recently
| budgie HMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM
| parksungjoon https://www.sputnikmusic.com/list.php?listid=190800
| foxblood it's really good, that first song is killer
| FirstStrikeIsDeadly It really does. And at only 34 minutes it doesn't wear out its welcome before it gets tiresome. Just some nice bombastic heavy ****ing metal \m/
| Casavir Yeah, it's great stuff. Probably their best.
| manosg Hey man, yes I have! They are really good. Canada ftw!
| neekafat Hey man! Totally get if you wanna take a break from the SOTD thread this month but I'd still love if you dropped a rec!
| Casavir They kind of remind me of Anacrusis.
| Casavir You know Moral Decay - To Build an End? That's a pretty great one.
| Casavir What would the usual 10-15 bands be?
| Casavir Slauter Xstroyes - Free the Beast and Secrecy - Art in Motion are worthwhile listens.
| Casavir I have actually heard Dark Century already. Quite an interesting and quality release.
| StrikeOfTheBeast Dark Century is a really good album. The death metal style vocals compliment the technical, melodic guitarwork. It's criminally underrated.
| Voivod Haven't heard it yet, waiting for a stream to pop out anytime now.
| BlazinBlitzer I hike as much as I can when my family and I go on scenic vacations. We've taken trips out to the pacific northwest many times and have found plenty of great hiking trails around that area. My personal favorites have always been Hurricane Ridge in Washington's Olympic Peninsula and Silver Falls near Corvallis, Oregon.
| BlazinBlitzer Yeah! I don't think I've heard about that one, but I went on a family trip to Colorado recently so hiking a couple of the Fourteeners was a pretty fun experience.
| BlazinBlitzer Hey! I saw you mentioned that you went on a hiking trip over the weekend. Where'd you go?
| SCREAM! Damn, looks like the 3 day passes are... But they always release single day passes for each day later on once more bands and the schedule are announced!
| Grimlin Cool, glad you liked it, and no problem at all. Hope the show goes well.
| SteakByrnes Dude nice, it is such a fine pair of legs my guy :] Lyn from Fire Emblem :]]]
| TheSpirit Oh yeah, I'm a HUGE fan of the band. I think that Volahn's playing is some of the most unique in all of extreme metal. First two albums had that awesome black/metal Spanish flair and since then he's been combining that flavor with some more diverse metal influences. They only play the West Coast, so you should definitely jump on seeing them, I've heard they are AMAZING live.
| TheSpirit I ALWAYS have time to talk about Volahn hahaha ... whats up?
| CalculatingInfinity Yeah I've got Discord, CalculatingInfinity#1413 is my username. Add me on there and we'll chat :]
| CalculatingInfinity I've only listened to a few tracks. Sounds much better than their previous efforts past 2000.
| rockandmetaljunkie can we use another forum to communicate ? like messenger ? no prob with sputnik but there are some things i would love to show you and i don't know if it's possible from here
| rockandmetaljunkie hi man, what's up ? it's time to talk about that song "Night Lights"!! How is it coming ?
| rockandmetaljunkie I"ll give you my tips regarding the tone once i disembark, we pay for connection and it's damn expensive
| discovolante Ahh man, I haven't listened to them in a while lol. From what I remember, they were pretty good. A nice gothy hard rock/post-punk act, kinda like early Cure on steroids.
| budgie check! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eN3tjXJvNbA
| budgie makes me think of j-pop more than retrowave, haha! it's pretty fun though!
| Scoob Yeah lol just me being a stupid ass as usual. Albums doing something right if it gets trolled so much tho
| Spacesh1p I dunno I just don't like it. It's probably my most controversial rating.
| Scoob Ahh yes a trve priest fan digs the rolla
| Scoob Dreamer deciever or stained class or sentinel You?
| Scoob Illud my hardest five of all fives
| Scoob Yeah idk how that had a 1 lol
| manosg haha thanks dude, you're too kind! I actually became staff 6-7 months ago. How's everything with you?
| CalculatingInfinity ayyyyyyyyyyyy lad I wondered where you been, sup? Thankfully I've had a summer which wasn't pure torture, been really busy with driving lessons/summer school and if anything been watching anime. Also the 2 new Dir lives came out 2 days ago so I'm riding the hype train pretty hard rn.
| Realm Oh sorry didn't see the priest in your PP. carry on
| budgie any new good music to rec?
| CalculatingInfinity Hey, just letting you know I uploaded Tour Atom to JPopSuki and it's Freeleech so it won't affect your ratio :]
| budgie hell yeah! i love that really dirty sound and the awesome riffage. so grimey and gross and fun
| CalculatingInfinity ...yeah that's not very good :[ I'll just wait for Buck Tick to put them to shame and show everyone how it's done.
| CalculatingInfinity This is taking the piss now: https://www.monochrome-heaven.com/topic/45053-x-japan-new-album-release-date-for-march-3rd/?page=2
| EphemeralEternity continued;Tryshasla - Secde (idm) / Subheim - Approach (downtempo) / Seven sorrows - desiderii Marginis / Dahlia's Tear - Under seven skies (maxmalist ambient) /// october language - belong (drone) / tim hecker - ravedeath (drone) / Eluvium - static nocturne (white noise/ambient, really recommend this one especially for drifting off to sleep). I think that's enough for now.
| EphemeralEternity here's some more ambient worth hearing (i can't guarantee you wont fall alseep during it as some of it is a bit minimalist);apocryphos - stone speak (soothing mellifluous ambient)atrium carceri - metropolis (dark ambient with faint percussion punctuated through)Eluvium - Nightmare ending (piano/ ambient)Northaunt - HorizonsDepressive Silence - Depressive silence II (dungeon synth) loscil - sea island (ambient/idm)sleep research facility - deep frieze (very minimalist dark ambient)
| EphemeralEternity glad you enjoyed it man, it's a very underappreciated gem and it's significantly more engaging than your average ambient album. I'll think of some more that you mgiht enjoy and post them tomorrow
| budgie memoryhouse is identified i guess as 'shoegaze' or 'dream pop' - if you like their sound, their LP soft hate came out last year, it's more upbeat, and it's goddamn beautiful. the slideshow effect LP is more droney, and it's goddamn beautiful!
| budgie dude this miami nights thing is fun as hell! reminds me a lot of this recent release - https://fm84.bandcamp.com/ - retro as hell. i'll be checking out that list today for sure, thanks so much - and i'll jump on night runner, gotta have some coffee first!
| budgie right on - vansire has an ep which came out within the past month or so. love their sound. if you have some stuff like lady in disguise/1987 to recommend, i'd love to hear it. that synthy stuff is really not my genre, but i chanced upon that ep and love love love it for whatever reason
| budgie hey man, the other time you asked me for some digs, i was too wasted to figure out how to use commas and stuff. this might work though: https://memoryhouse.bandcamp.com/album/caregiver-heirloom, https://she-devilsinc.bandcamp.com/album/she-devils-ep, https://fazerdaze.bandcamp.com/album/morningside, https://innerworksrecords.bandcamp.com/album/1987, https://vansire.bandcamp.com/album/reflections-and-reveries, hope you dig!
| wham49 most of the stuff on that release was recycled on other newer releases, but nothing sounds as good as on the first daze here, Forever my Queen and Walk in the blue light are unbelievable
| wham49 for something a little more adventurous, check Roky Erickson/ RE and the aliens, again you an read my review on it
| wham49 what are you looking for genre, yearhow about Pentagram/ first daze here, you can read my review on it as well, that pick was just looking at your ratings and what you like.
| danielcardoso Hi man, yeah id my older write ups because 1) a lot of them were just poorly written and i was unhappy with and 2) my opinion had changed on a couple of those albums to the point that i felt my reviews were no longer fair representations of them.
| CalculatingInfinity I either lives to almost every single Buck Tick live for download or I have personally uploaded them myself onto MEGA through buying them and ripping after or through personal peer to peer.
| CalculatingInfinity Yeah I'm gonna do that too, limited Blu Ray here I come! Just watched Warp Days with Aaron, crossparallel and Aaron too xD
| CalculatingInfinity Buck Tick just announced a live Blu Ray with all of Atom live, now available for pre order! :D
| EvoHavok Merry Christmas! Hope you have a wonderful time!
| Titan Mill bro Merry Christmas to you and your family as well!! enjoy the day my man....
| CalculatingInfinity They all essentially serve the same function yeah, I just listed cases where one may be better than the other. Remambo is the only one I've personally used so I can't say it's the best one but I love it plus it has very good english support so IMO if you're a hardcore fan of any Japanese band it's the treasure cove.
| CalculatingInfinity I haven't used it but this site is another Proxy site just like Remambo, so I've seen all of the deals which jauce has on Remambo.
| CalculatingInfinity Other ones like Down, Rokugatsu, Asylum Garden and Steppers are brilliant songs but the studio versions aren't the best and are finally done justice in live performances.
| CalculatingInfinity As for non album songs my favs are: Narcissus (on Speed's single), Gessekai (from the Gessekai single), Bran-New Lover (from the Bran-New Lover single), Miu (from the Miu single), Trans (from the Galmorous single, has a music video which is on Youtube), Bara Iro no Hibi (from 21st Century Boy single), Gensou no Hana (from Gensou's single), all of Kagerou's single.
| CalculatingInfinity Many people when it comes to BT's discography has 'their' album, the one they love the most compared to the general opinion. For me, it's Tenshi and I love it to death (when initially I saw it as their worst) so expect anything when it comes to their discography really.
| CalculatingInfinity Yeah it's definitely their weirdest outing, but to me their most rewarding along with Tenshi.
| CalculatingInfinity I think they have made 1 or 2 actual bad songs (as in barely anything redeemable) on Taboo and Aku but that's it. That's including all their non album stuff too except maybe 1 or 2.
| CalculatingInfinity What's the full list of what you've heard so far? I expect at least one of them to crack a 5 out of you ;)
| Vorpax My favourites in no specific order are Kurutta Taiyou, 13 kai, Yume Miru Uchuu, Darker than Darkness, Kyokutou I Love You, Razzle Dazzle... I need to give Atom Miraiha more spins though
| CalculatingInfinity Fyi the only place you can get Immortal for download is JPopSuki, I can throw you an invite is you like.
| Vorpax Humm didn't get your post..
| Vorpax So, digging B-T! Wha'ts your favourites so far?
| CalculatingInfinity Glad to hear that, the limited edition is gorgeous too if you ever wanna buy it. I think you'll really like One Life is that's the case, lots of stuff going on in it with lots of electronics mixed with their weirder songs plus an emotional tone to go along with it.
| CalculatingInfinity Yeah, that's the thing. An 'adequate review' I don't like being adequate and I'm not willing to put in the time not to be :P Also that's fine, don't force yourself to like it ya know?
| CalculatingInfinity Downloaded it all, if you want to watch any Buck Tick lives you'll have to download since there's no streams anywhere minus really bad quality ones for one or two of them. Hell I bought Tour Arui and Yume on Blu Ray not only to down them, but to make files of them so everyone can download them from me since there's no Blu Ray files of them on the net minus mine.
| CalculatingInfinity Fish Tanker's Only 2013, IMO in their top 6 shows and a solid 5. Mixes a lot of Yume songs with a few classics (like Speed) with a few tracks which rarely get played live with so much energy along with very little pauses between tracks so it never lets up. Here's a link: http://rutracker.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=4618097
| CalculatingInfinity I've watched 25 live Blu Rays/DVD's hahaha I love them. I'll rate it this week, been mega busy with Uni :/
| CalculatingInfinity Also my limited edition of Atom came through the mail today, it's gorgeous God damn.
| CalculatingInfinity I meant live DVD/Blu Rays, not live CD's. Live After Death is dope good choice, for me Buck Tick's Tour 14 show is my favorite live of all time. Almost always Buck Tick live is better than studio, that's a promise. I mean look at incredible performance for example: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7ALzWqs8-r0
| CalculatingInfinity Btw I'm wondering, your fav lives (in general, of all time not just X Japan).
| CalculatingInfinity Glad you enjoy it, I'll rate it when my copy of it comes through the mail :]
| CalculatingInfinity The lyrics are here if you wanna read them: https://sites.google.com/site/lyricsyndrome/lyrics/buck-tick/albums Also if you want more electronic based Buck Tick check One Life, Sexy Stream Liner and Mona Lisa.
| CalculatingInfinity Yeah it's so sad, it just makes me more disillusioned of X Japan's reunion by the minute. Also I really need to watch The Last Live in full, I'm a terrible fan ;-;
| CalculatingInfinity Hey man, I think you should read this. It's a...pretty haunting read to say the least but it explains so much about X Japan's later years: http://www.xplosion-online.com/?page_id=2374#.V_oPoCSTPow
| DoofusWainwright Hi RotM, this round of the comp you can rec an album for each year included in the list if you want to btw
| CalculatingInfinity My friend does Engineering, sounds more annoying than my course. I took Math because it's the only thing I'm good enough at and enjoy enough to do a degree and Masters here isn't truly specalised, PhD is when that happens but you a project which focuses heavily on your desired subject.
| CalculatingInfinity Buck Tick Phenomenon, This is NOT Greatest Site and the Buck Tick Reddit page mainly.
| CalculatingInfinity Aye, I still need to give it a rating but I probably will when my CD comes and I listen to that for dat audio quality. Early next year they'll be releasing Climax Together 3 which is going to rule so hard since their lives are next level.
| CalculatingInfinity I just started Uni again, so I'll feel that soon too. Minus that been jamming more concerts and learning to drive.
| CalculatingInfinity This may be of some use to you: http://www.sputnikmusic.com/list.php?listid=168022
| rockandmetaljunkie not arguing but that doesn't mean you do not favorite other bands too ;)
| JamieTwort Hey man, I haven't checked it out yet. Probably will do soon. What are your thoughts on it?
| Jasdevi087 Tinderbox probably (I know I have Juju rated higher but it needs a relisten). Haven't jammed Hyaena, accidently skipped it on the discography run, it's the one with Dear Prudence right?
| Jasdevi087 Also that soundoff in giant letters has destroyed your ratings section :p
| CalculatingInfinity Every BT live I've rated are DVD/Blu Ray's (yes, I've watched 12 full concerts).
| CalculatingInfinity Buck Tick are the best ever what can I say? ;) I love watching lives now, gives you a whole new appreciation for the bands you listen to.
| CalculatingInfinity You think you'll end up on the Vektor hype train or not? ;) Anyway sup? Haven't seen ya for a while.
| EvoHavok No, I haven't. I'll check it out.
| EvoHavok Just the two from the list I linked.
| EvoHavok Someone had to be in the right place at the right time to correct Cal's mistakes. Guess he did not like it xD. There's a great offer on used Kurutta Taiyou on there if you're interested.
| CalculatingInfinity Also nvm Japan Discoveries offers registered SAL. I can't believe you own that, so lucky. One day I'd want to get the Buck Tick equivalent of that (Picture Perfect).
| EvoHavok Sorry for barging in this convo, but Japan-discoveries offers registered SAL which is cheap and has tracking.
| CalculatingInfinity When I get my Buck Tick live through the post it's gonna be jawdropping, it's more effort and money to get these things but it's so worth it.
| CalculatingInfinity X Japan Vinyl is so ****ing rare to find, I think using Buyee, Remambo and Discogs are the only ways to get them (and just search Vanishing Vision, search bars don't like X Japan since too many results lol). CD's are much easier to find, being £15-£40 a pop. Which boxset did you grab? If it was Complete II you're a bitch :P. Buck Tick material in terms of CD's is easy to get a hand off using those sources, live shows you'll be fine until you get to limited editions where it starts to become hard
| CalculatingInfinity There you go, between a bunch of these there's nothing you can't find. What you planning on buying?
| CalculatingInfinity 4. Japan Discoveries. A ****ing incredible which has rare items and immense selection of items without the extra work of option 3 and Amazon.jp. Only downside is you can't track items unless you use EMS I think which is expensive: http://japan-discoveries.com/index.php?main_page=index
| CalculatingInfinity 3, Remambo, it's something that allows you to bid or buy from Japanese bidding sites which would be a previously impossible. I've never had to use this yet, so it's the only one which I haven't had experience with although my friend has so if you ever have to use it just ask and I'll ask her: https://www.remambo.jp/
| CalculatingInfinity 2. Use Asian based websites where are specialized in this service. Here's a great article on the big 3 for it, listing pros and cons: https://alexshenmue.wordpress.com/buying-music-in-japan/buying-japanese-music-from-overseas/
| CalculatingInfinity Your options are the following: 1. Use online shopping/bidding sites not specifically for Japanese Music. Which are eBay (best one for rare items), Discogs (very useful for albums which are normal pressing but hard to find, can find some rare items there but they're either good deals or insane prices) or Amazon (can really be hit or miss)
| CalculatingInfinity Yep they're blowing my mind. I brought Tour 14 Arui 2 days after watching it for £70, so ****ing worth.
| CalculatingInfinity Not a full album but what I heard was enjoyable. By the looks of my ratings you can tell what I'm doing lol.
| Nazzadan I'll check out the rest of Nuclear Assault now, I kinda did stop after Handle With Care
| JigglyPDiddy Pretty amazing band deserving of said ratings. ;)
| blatho One day I may... do the cheese, I do yes blatho.
| romulanrancor Going through it chronologically, already heard Bad Magic and Inferno already though. Which both rule hard m/
| romulanrancor I was a little hesitant at first, It was gonna be that or a 3 but I actually enjoyed it a fair bit. It would be hard for me to 3 a Motorhead album because they ruled so damn much haha
| Atari Thanks man I appreciate it
| manosg No problem, dude. Let me know if you need anything more.
