  • garas Oh I see some Ulver in between your digs? Most excited! :]
    July 30 12:20 PM
  • garas That was indeed pretty bad. I don't mind if it's boring, just they should not use such big words in their bio, becasue it is cringey. I kinda hate that "sterile" sound...bores me to death.
    July 29 12:21 PM
  • garas On who? I was quite grumpy about numerous stuff lately :0
    July 29 11:56 AM
  • DopeFiend crust punk isn't exactly known for having long songs
    July 25 05:53 PM
  • garas That's also a really good song, nice!
    July 21 06:38 PM
  • garas Anytime friend!! ;] I'm so happy! Also, I'm not into power metal either (however, very old-schoolish power metal is not a bad thing), but this rips. And holy cow, writing this album must have been a huge pain in the ass, since it's so tight! The 7th song is a pure masterpiece...
    July 21 04:26 PM
  • garas And there is a very interesting power metal-ish feel in this creation...! And tbh, I love it.
    July 21 03:56 PM
  • garas Yesssss! The overall package is not so folky, but it bears some really Bergtatt-ish vibe here and there. Alltogether I hear a lot of cool influences like Bathory (a lot of viking era Bathory), Immortal, Windir... but it has its very own sound, and damn this is really punchy in a oddly epic way!
    July 21 03:55 PM
  • garas Yeah, it has definitely some Windir "in it".
    July 21 03:41 PM
  • garas Programmed drums are okay (if they're not disgustingly overcompressed!!!). I'm not a fan of Black Dhalia either (and Anaal Nathrakh), but "fun" metal is great! (*loud Alestorm music intensifies in the background*)
    July 21 12:05 PM
  • garas Sounds promising! I like nerdy metal music, one of the greatest things in metal, haha!
    July 21 10:21 AM
  • garas Sure, why not! I've heard good things about them, but I haven't listened to them (yet?).
    July 21 09:53 AM
  • someone I say don't beat your relatives at all.
    July 20 06:36 PM
  • garas Fluisteraars is on my radar, I've heard one single earlier this year, and I was pretty much convinced but kinda forgot about it - I'll definitely blast that one soon!
    July 20 10:34 AM
  • garas Also 3.5 on Skeleton is pretty nice. I didn't really except much higher rating than that, but let me tell you something: that's also 100% garascore, and I loved everything about it.
    July 20 09:55 AM
  • garas I'm curious about your opinion. It is like some good ol' Bathory and Finnish meloblack on amphetamine: fast, epic, and both the riffs and the solos are MASSIVE!
    July 20 09:53 AM
  • garas The new Havukruunu ****ing rules...!! However, I'm not sure how do you like viking metal :0
    July 20 08:50 AM
  • garas Tbh, I kinda like it. It has nice colors and I love the font. Tue skulls are a bit meh, but it's okay hahaha!
    July 17 06:40 AM
  • garas 'At War' is my fav too, that song RIPS. But the whole package is consistently good. Almost broke my neck on the first listen too.
    July 16 06:38 PM
  • dedex looks cool, thx!
    July 16 05:12 PM
  • Inoculaeted I keep creeping back to Mire. It's brutal metal but has such texture. They honor so many flavors of heavy that it really becomes it's own thing. I cannot wait to hear whatever they release next.
    July 16 01:47 PM
  • garas Indeed. At least I could teach you a "trick"!
    July 16 11:52 AM
  • garas Ah, you're well informed as usual! I'm curious if you'll dig Skeleton or not.
    July 16 11:42 AM
  • garas Yeah, it was a bit Sabbath-ish, but other times their singer sounded exactly like Troy Sanders, haha! Also, did you catch that their bassist is the vocalist of Gatecreeper?
    July 16 10:46 AM
  • garas Oh, then I'm very sorry about that, I must have been forgot that you mentioned it earlier! And I didn't really feel they are "retro", I got a more of a "doom-Mastodon" impression, and I really liked what I've heard. Too bad, their new EP was a bit disappointing.
    July 16 10:34 AM
  • garas Skeleton's debut ****ing slaps \m/ I'm about to destroy that replay button... also yesterday I discovered Spirit Adrift - great band, I saw you 4.5'd their LP last year.
    July 16 07:20 AM
  • Inoculaeted Rendon by Thou is slaying me at the moment. Thanks for the recommend! Such a wonderful group of songs that span doom, sludge, and post. The Eyes of the World gives me YOB vibes and Loneliness Dances brings those Leviathan-era Mastodon serpentine guitar passages to mind. Thou rules so hard.
    July 15 07:45 PM
  • Bedex it's an amazing mix, same mate I dig it hard too! If you want more of the same vibe I'd recomment Breag Naofa - s/t, but definitely check FoE's discog first - they're the true kings of this
    July 15 02:10 PM
  • dedex nice, I'm in need of some hxc atm! I'm waiting for *at least* a 4.5 for both Elil and Inle!
    July 15 02:08 PM
  • dedex yay glad you liked, now off to the next two! Regarding my ratings, I only started re-rating stuff on Jan 2019... and I haven't listened to Wake the Dead and Turn It Around since then, but these two were heavy jams when I was in high school, Turn It Around was one of my go-to hxc record at the time. I just need one listen to 4-4.5 then again eheh! Pulling Teeth sounds hella cool, I'll add it to my list (still need to listen to that Bell Witch record you rec'd me btw, my backlog is killing me)
    July 15 01:56 PM
  • Bedex 4.5 Owsla m/ m/
    July 15 01:54 PM
  • tectactoe i think you'd dig Fluisteraars's new one, 'Bloem'.
    July 14 08:17 PM
  • Bedex jam FoE [2]
    July 14 12:44 PM
  • dedex Go in chronological order, their evolution is super interesting!
    July 14 10:09 AM
  • dedex Hello, small reminder that you need to jam this: https://www.sputnikmusic.com/bands/Fall-of-Efrafa/8945/
    July 13 02:10 PM
  • trilo nicee gonna jam this weekend
    July 10 02:19 PM
  • Inoculaeted A fantastic reminder to jam that beast again! That?s a dense one, but so mesmorizing. Love your rating!
    July 10 12:54 PM
  • DopeFiend hey man, if you're looking for other cool 90s sludge bands, check out His Hero Is Gone. Both their albums (Fifteen Counts of Arson and Monuments to Thieves) are absolute rippers. unfortunately those albums aren't on streaming but they are on YT.
    July 10 11:55 AM
  • garas Ah yeah... happened the very same thing with me :| I'm kinda bummed... but instead of credit, they sent back the money to my paypal :o
    July 9 09:37 AM
  • DopeFiend ya dope fiend is an acid bath song I really love. did you check em yet?
    July 7 01:26 AM
  • Ray91 Sorry kinda late in responding these days ? well, I never expected wanyk to be this consistent and good. Only song I don't mind is my pain but I dig the nin vibes. Man I'm on a maroon binge lately. I know I've been telling you a few times now so you gotta check the cold heart of the sun, its Mosh tastic and really atmospheric
    July 4 09:39 AM
  • DopeFiend ya conjurer rips. also, I notice you don't have acid bath rated. have you checked them yet?
    July 4 01:03 AM
  • garas I think 'Stimmen im Wald' is my favourite from the album, but I agree that section is pretty cool. I wouldn't say it is the best, but it is really good. \m/
    July 3 02:22 PM
  • TheNotrap Ando a volta de Convocation! Quero ver se publico alguma coisa amanhã. Dá uma checada...super doom, muito fixe
    July 3 02:14 PM
  • Atari Thanks man! Felt good to write something
    July 2 03:46 PM
  • Atari Actually that?s not something I have access to or I would. You?ll have to ask them in the For the Meds forum thread
    July 2 02:34 PM
  • TheNotrap Hahah bem e melhor ouvir quando me deitar
    July 2 09:53 AM
  • Ray91 Hey man, doing fine atm, hoping the same goes to you. Thanks for letting me know, already checked their latest release and it was quite good. Glad you're reminding me to relisten but first finishing my we are not your kind spin. Still holds up really well
    July 2 08:40 AM
    July 1 07:35 AM
  • garas That's pretty far, I'd say! During that time you could listen to some music! (I always do on the bus.) But I'm sure your daughter and wife enjoyed having you home, even if it is home office. Tomorrow I can go back to the lab for the first time in the past months, finally I may feel useful again, haha!
    June 30 09:40 PM
  • garas No, not urban train! We have trams though in Szeged, but only 50% of them are air conditioned... so almost the same. I usually take the bus when I go to the lab. Random: how far do you live from your workplace?
    June 30 08:53 PM
  • garas The train is okay, not crowded at all. My biggest problem is that there are no air conditioning on second class (first class is for the snobs, duh)...it's hot. And 90% of people are still wearing masks (including me), the rest is jist simply retarded, noone has the energy to argue with them. The general situation is pretty positive here, tbh.
    June 30 02:23 PM
  • garas Niiiice. I'm still boiling on a ****ing train, can't wait to arrive hime to blast Im Wald chilling with some beers. \m/
    June 30 02:06 PM
  • garas Also I'm also planning a re-jam of the latest Paysage, that enormous beast is fantastic stuff to listen to while working.
    June 30 12:11 PM
  • garas Oh, very much appreciated, thanks for the rec! The "indie" and "chill" together is usually not my stuff, but since it is from you then I'll give it a go ;]
    June 30 12:09 PM
  • dedex Beware, it's not Nocte! Don't be fooled by that first name and that contrib tag! First three tracks are good, but after three listens all I can remember is how awesome the last two tracks are
    June 30 11:25 AM
  • dedex Vile Creature's last track is one of the best heavy track of the year so far btw
    June 30 11:20 AM
  • dedex and now you wanna make me cry, nice!
    June 30 11:17 AM
  • dedex Hey no remember that Fausto record, or that Weeping Sores? Both 4s! And nope, never heard of him, to which indie dude does he remind you of?
    June 30 10:45 AM
  • dedex you got me intrigued
    June 30 10:17 AM
  • dedex I actually never listened to Bell Witch so no worries about that!
    June 30 09:45 AM
  • dedex Oooh thank you man, maybe next year eheh! It's Bell Witch and Aerial Ruin, right? I'll give it a go soon
    June 30 09:40 AM
  • DopeFiend thx bro
    June 29 10:08 PM
  • garas Niiiiice! Btw, if you have some extra time in your hand, maybe you'll like this: https://www.sputnikmusic.com/soundoff.php?albumid=362660 Blackened death metal from my city! Pretty talented folks, I've seen their singer a couple of times on a local bus, haha.
    June 29 05:45 PM
  • garas Nice rating on 'Im Wald' ;] Finally, a matching rating \m/
    June 29 05:39 PM
  • DopeFiend hey random question but how do I get my profile pic to show up in my comments on album review threads
    June 29 03:32 PM
  • trilo nice rec, vile creature was sweet
    June 28 09:06 PM
  • TheNotrap Grande classico! Queen ao vivo e muito fixe
    June 27 05:04 PM
  • Inoculaeted Purveyors of filth! Vile Creature slaughters!
    June 27 04:20 PM
  • trilo Thou and Lord Mantis? Im in
    June 27 03:53 PM
  • garas Huh, it was harder than imagined, hahaha! :D And sorry, I haven't really used Explorer back in the days, instead Opera was the trendy one.
    June 27 12:08 PM
  • garas Then you should know it, what am I talking about :0 After a right-click on the bookmark bar, you should be able to add folders!
    June 27 12:05 PM
  • garas A folder for bookmarks! Do you use Chrome?
    June 27 11:58 AM
  • garas Well, it's just one folder for the recs etc., where I have their bandcamp and youtube links - but sorted by genres (ambient, drone, BM, other metal, classical). I don't really sort my favourites, I just look my ratings page if I feel I haven't gave enough love for some of them, haha!
    June 27 11:46 AM
  • garas That's why I created a folder in my browser where I can throw the links of the recs and the stuff I gave high priority. Super comfortable, I can always pick something which matches to my mood. B]
    June 27 11:31 AM
  • garas I'm currently jamming the new Paysage, which is awesome. I'm curious about your opinion too, since I saw it's on the top of your digs.
    June 27 11:20 AM
  • garas Fine, added to my checklist. And I didn't forget Tribulation - but atm I have more than 30 albums on my checklist, so it might take some time to finally get there, haha!
    June 27 11:19 AM
  • garas Yeah, they're fairly different but I just wanted to illustrate that I don't really get modern doom bands every time :| And yeah, that's what I like in them! (However, I like overly cheesy stuff as well, haha!)
    June 27 11:07 AM
  • garas And about Bell Witch... well, I'm not a crazy big fan of them, tbh. There are a few doom bands which were a hit n miss for me, and Bell Witch was one of them. (Same case with Windhand.)
    June 27 10:53 AM
  • garas Carach is a kinda "guilty pleasure" band for me, becasue I love them despite the general "hate" towards them. Dennis Droomers is a fantastic vocalist, I really like his style they usually write sick riffs too.
    June 27 10:51 AM
  • garas But that's why it is a strong 5.0 for me: becaue it is probs the most fun metal album ever, and you can feel from any minute that they loved making that album!
    June 27 10:49 AM
  • garas Anytime! It just makes me very happy you also liked it! :] (It was one of my favourites from the last decade.)
    June 27 07:19 AM
  • Deez Its been dowloaded and waiting to go mate.
    June 27 12:59 AM
  • garas Y E S! That 4.0 on that Darkthrone album is fantastic! And you gave it a chance...I really appreciate it!! I'll jam your rec soon, I swear! I was on a little vacation with my better half, so I couldn't really check recs or new stuff.
    June 26 08:11 PM
  • dedex Will jam, thx for the tip
    June 26 05:48 PM
  • Inoculaeted https://www.sputnikmusic.com/soundoff.php?albumid=361439
    June 26 05:15 PM
  • Inoculaeted Top of the queue it goes. Just wrapping up Stygian Bough. Seafaring funeral folk.
    June 26 04:45 PM
  • dedex Already checked the new Paysage d'Hiver?
    June 26 04:22 PM
  • garas Just the cover itself screams that I'll love it! :] Checklisted, I'll jam it soon!
    June 24 06:24 PM
  • MementoMori Honestly, that was pretty chuckle worthy actually.
    June 22 09:57 AM
  • MementoMori What's this screaming my name all of a sudden my dude?
    June 21 12:12 PM
  • kalkwiese It feels like the rest of your sentence is missing. What do you want me to listen to?
    June 20 09:55 PM
  • garas Ah I see, then I'm pretty sure I can't convince you. "The Underground Resistance" is one of the purest metal albums I've ever heard: it is a mix of speed, black, doom and old-school thrash metal which blends old and newer trends together... which is just "metal metal"(?). I love it, but if you're not into late-Darkthrone then I'm sorry for taking your time.
    June 20 04:26 PM
  • garas No ratings on "The Underground Resistance" by Darkthrone?? How so??
    June 19 11:47 AM
  • dedex Eheh I knew you'd dig that kind of vibe
    June 18 12:18 PM
  • dedex Heyo 3D ! Ever jammed Acrimony - Tumuli Shroomaroom ? Psych/stoner stuff, pretty sure you'll love it :]
    June 17 03:07 PM
  • Dewinged Finally got around that Thou covering Nirvana album. The ones from nevermind are insane.
    June 15 05:41 AM
  • garas Crust punk-DM?? That's sounds interesting, noted!
    June 14 05:54 PM
  • garas It's going to be a strong 4.0, thanks for the rec my friend! \m/ *garas's seal of approval*
    June 14 03:14 PM
  • SlowlyFallingAwake Abraço de volta
    June 14 10:17 AM
  • garas I don't know them tbh, but your rating and this short introduction convinced me to check it out. I'll give it a listen soon, but I have some BM to hear first.
    June 13 03:40 PM
  • garas "...Immortal like bm" 0.0 I'm IN!
    June 13 03:29 PM
  • TheNotrap m/ o album e muito fixe ;)
    June 12 05:43 PM
  • bloc The art is really pretty, I will add them to my back log
    June 12 05:41 PM
  • Deathconscious I havent man, but ive been reading good things about it, im gonna get to it for sure.
    June 11 05:01 AM
    June 10 10:35 PM
  • TheNotrap Olha cansei-me da bola. Acho que nestes ultimos meses o pais ficou melhor sem futebol...
    June 10 10:31 PM
  • JayEnder Hey Deftone I will definitely do that man m/ to be honest I only listened to Magus so far. Loving it to death.
    June 10 01:49 AM
  • garas Hey! Thanks man, I know what shall I watch this evening then ;]
    June 9 01:54 PM
  • TheNotrap Excelente nao foi? estava a espera que visses com a malta. Recebi uma promo da editora...infelizmente nao posso partilhar...nem com o staff...nao conheces nenhum site marado para descarregar?
    June 8 09:07 PM
  • TheNotrap O novo dos Ulthar e massivo, vais curtir a brava
    June 8 08:49 PM
  • MiloRuggles Is Hallis cheesy? The 'heavy' before the word 'metal' is often a red flag for me
    June 7 10:55 AM
  • MiloRuggles PS- haven't had time for Cosmic Putrefaction yet, waiting for that dm mood to strike
    June 7 08:24 AM
  • MiloRuggles Listened to some Hum recently- thought you'd probably like it then saw your rating, goes to show what I know. Give You'd Prefer An Astronaut a go at high volumez!
    June 7 08:23 AM
  • MiloRuggles Haha all rated from memory fortunately. That would be a painful discog run. Kiwanuka :):):)
    June 6 09:25 PM
  • dedex New Thou it's all Nirvana covers? Man 2020 isn't so bad in the end
    June 6 12:00 PM
  • Inoculaeted COME ON OVER AND DO THE TWIST
    June 5 05:53 PM
  • Inoculaeted It?s cool. You are a connoisseur of top tier filth. I feel you.
    June 5 05:50 PM
  • Inoculaeted Glad you enjoyed Worry! I do see where it can read as amateur-ish but to me it sounds unrestrained and raw.
    June 5 05:42 PM
  • Inoculaeted Yes exactly! I was never a massive Nirvana guy so this is breathing life into the music in a way I didn?t experience all those year ago.
    June 5 05:37 PM
  • Inoculaeted I?d prob go 4. I was actually referring to your comment about my Thou soundoff. It meant it as wild hyperbole but there?s an element of truth to it.
    June 5 05:31 PM
  • bloodshy I don't do alts either but if I did, I could go by BBBloodshBBB. All the cool people do it
    June 5 05:28 PM
  • Inoculaeted This wouldn?t be fun if just agreed all the time.
    June 5 05:27 PM
  • Inoculaeted Omg. This Thou cover album is incredible...
    June 5 04:45 PM
  • trilo niceee m/
    June 5 03:26 PM
  • Inoculaeted I'm a Thou veteran though I've not actually heard that compilation! Top tier priority! I was just giving the Heathen vinyl a spin and felt like I had something to say about it at the time. Love that band. I actually met the singer in his record shop in Nola last December.
    June 5 02:12 PM
  • bloodshy If you make an alt, it should be XXXeftoneXXX. Have a nice day.
    June 5 07:07 AM
  • Inoculaeted No language barrier at all with Joliette, that primal rage is universal. Really awesome record. Sort of reminded me of At the Drive In at times but a more fierce and dissonant version take. The production is perfectly suited to their sound. It really sounds like you're listening to it in a basement being played live. Very visceral. Nice rec! 4 fo sho.
    June 4 10:30 PM
  • garas (I'd be very curious about the other bandmate's favourite albums too.) Oh man... it was one of the hardest exams I've ever had... so many complex questions... I was sweating like a horse, lol! But I got the best grade in the end, so it is a strong reason to celebreate! But I'm very exhausted... I'll need a day or two just to relax... I have dark circles under my eyes, I kinda look like a zombie racoon or something, hahaha!
    June 4 07:29 PM
  • garas Also the exam went very-very well, best grade so I can feel my master's degree in my pocket now *sunglasses on*
    June 4 07:16 PM
  • garas I think I'll 4.0 it as well. My only problem is that, it feels a little bit "hollow" sometimes, very impressive album though. And I can see why does Tommy from Hallas like this album so much!
    June 4 07:15 PM
  • garas Damn, Genesis is awesome. And the fact that 'Selling England by the Pound' is from '73... wow.
    June 4 06:57 PM
  • Inoculaeted If you don't mind I'll leave two recs here from 2019 I noticed you haven't rated yet. The s/t album by Horsehunter brings me Remission-era Mastodon vibes. Raw sludge brutality. The other is called Wisdom Through Shame by Worry. Also raw and sludgy but works in a bit of doom. Both albums I would rate very highly on a 2019 list and got little to no attention here. Cheers dude.
    June 4 01:40 PM
  • Inoculaeted Props to that 2019 list. Really great stuff there. Mine wouldn't be very different to be honest. I'm probably higher on Inter Arma and a bit lower on Esoteric but that's nitpicky. Both great albums. Going to hit that Joliette today.
    June 4 01:36 PM
  • garas Well, I still have to check their full discography so I can't form a strong opionion about them. But I've heard songs from each of their albums probably. And I greatly respect them, since they had a huge influence on the early BM scene im general.
    June 3 07:19 PM
  • garas Thanks friend! Celtic Frost (or Hellhammer) is always good - primitive metal slapsssss \m/ (I know nothing about the other.)
    June 3 06:07 PM
  • Bedex Starless is absolute love
    June 3 04:46 PM
  • garas Niiiiiice! I've also jammed some Hällas today, helped me to stay more relaxed. (Tomorrow is my big exam for my master's degree.)
    June 3 03:18 PM
  • garas YESSSSSSSS!!! Ths band deserves nothing but love! Also Star Rider was one of the best songs of the decade, tbh.
    June 3 11:20 AM
  • garas Also [2] Fadiiiiing heroooooo, on a holy missiooooooOOOOOOOOn~
    June 3 10:58 AM
  • garas Oh, those are very useful infos for me!! I gotta listen to them as well. Every bit of info is very welcomed since I want to give them a proper review.
    June 3 10:57 AM
  • garas Oh, so you watched the docu! Nice :] I'm glad to hear at least you like the vocals more! That vid had the same effect on my like the doucmentary about the last Mastodon album.
    June 3 10:02 AM
  • MiloRuggles Downloaded and ready to go- will report back in due time
    June 3 03:10 AM
  • Inoculaeted So much to listen to...love it. Thanks for the rec always. Added to the queue. Yeah CoL is a weird situation for me. Based on my preferences I should like them and I do love Mariner (Julie Christmas adds that weirdo dynamic) but I found Dawn to Fear really boring for some reason. Maybe the vocals are a bit monotonous to me. I hope to try again with another album.
    June 2 01:44 PM
  • Demon of the Fall Slow and steady wins the race my good man, keep on jammin? m/
    June 2 01:40 PM
  • ElioG Yeeeaaahhh I am like the Esoteric of sput!
    June 2 09:34 AM
  • ElioG You did some months ago! You rec'd me Cobalt and Every Time I Die. Gin is very good, it's like black metal acting like a lego base floor while several things are attached to it.
    June 2 08:35 AM
  • Inoculaeted I did add Asymmetrical to every banger playlist I got though. Monster track.
    June 2 01:00 AM
  • Inoculaeted Haha! It was ****in heavy as hell yea. Maybe my initial reaction is a little cautious cause it?s a sonic attack I?ve heard before and I?m not sure there?s anything particularly unique happening aside from them going super ****ing hard and smashing it. We?ll see on second listen. Maybe some nuance emerges.
    June 2 12:51 AM
  • garas Oh, so there was a celebration of some sort, that's the reason behind the late walking? And here is the youtube link for the docu: https://youtu.be/AzmKvVrs21M Btw, how often do you smoke? Just out of curiosity.
    June 1 10:14 PM
  • garas (Walking the dog this late? :0) And then it's reassuring to hear that! Sometimes I have a really bad time detecting certain moods on written form, huh.
    June 1 10:02 PM
  • garas That last message sounded a bit bummed, sorry about that! :| I just don't want to disappoint neither you or myself.
    June 1 09:43 PM
  • garas Idk, I think I'll pass that one. Blood Incantation wasn't that impressive for me either. (pls don't hate)
    June 1 07:04 PM
  • garas Nice!! And if you have a free 40 minutes laying around, I can highly recommend the docu I mentioned. These guys are so likeable, honest and real. (And it is pretty simple to spot who is the biggest black metal nerd from them, haha!) Oh and I remember where did I hear tribulation previously! Dewi rec'd a song in one of the Song Of The Day threads!
    June 1 10:53 AM
  • garas Swedes are unstoppable in bringing back "retro" music. And I get it friend, but after many-many listens (and watching the making of docu) I changed my mind: my point is, they make the first impression of a revival centered band, but they are much more original than that, since no other bands aimed for that sound and there are plenty of modern elements in their music like the lyrical concept or the studio quality. I know, I'm biased AF, but I can't help it!
    June 1 10:29 AM
  • garas Dropping your rating to 3.0 or how do you mean that? :0 [meanwhile] I feel I'll soon 5.0 Hällas' first LP... they're slowly becoming one of my favourite active bands. Watched the "Making Of" documentary on their last album, and love them even more than previously! (Also a review is incoming soon for Conundrum.)
    June 1 10:10 AM
  • garas Ah man, I'm drowning in recs, hahahahaha! But after my final exam I'll jump on listening to more stuff and writing more reviews... Btw, I think I've heard a few songs from 'Down Below' but I'm not sure... :|
    June 1 10:02 AM
  • garas Come-come, Serpent Column talk here: https://www.sputnikmusic.com/list.php?listid=192000
    May 31 02:29 PM
  • Pikazilla Actually, it has the most death metal of all their releases m/ If you don't believe me, listen to the title track!
    May 31 11:40 AM
  • garas Ghost vibes from Cirith? Well, I totally did not expect that. Also, I've already listened to 'Ornuthi Thalassa' and I can agree on your soundoff, since I also think the songs were mostly too long. But I won't rate it yet, just when I heard the entire discog. Maybe I'll do a ranking list as well, who knows...?
    May 31 09:58 AM
  • Pikazilla Have you heard This Is Exile by Whitechapel?
    May 31 08:55 AM
  • garas 'Eternity Of Shaog' was indeed weird, but the best kind of weird! Also Serpent Column is checklisted! I saw nice ratings, so I'm curious.
    May 30 02:37 PM
  • tectactoe I also second ?Grieving Birth? - i usually hate grindcore but thought that album was good.
    May 30 04:25 AM
  • dbizzles HELL yeah. Glad you liked it.
    May 29 11:10 PM
  • garas I loved the new Esoctrilihum.
    May 29 07:50 PM
  • Inoculaeted The band themselves confirmed this was a legit alternate track order they were considering on one of the YouTube streams of this album. I haven?t listened yet so no promises that this adds anything to the already EXCELLENT experience. Alternate track order - 8, 4, 1, 2, 5, 6, 7, 3, 9. Gonna make a playlist for myself now. Cheers dude.
    May 29 12:10 AM
  • garas Hey friend, here it comes yet another rec for you: 'Grieving Birth' by Internal Rot - super massive grindcore from this year, I think you'd dig it.
    May 28 07:10 PM
  • tectactoe I dunno man, I like the new EP style a bit more - but honestly all of Serpent Column's work is awesome. Glad to see you dug 'Mirror in Darkness'! That made my Top Metal Releases List last year!!
    May 28 05:19 PM
  • Inoculaeted Been a long time since I absorbed anything in that realm of music and I'm currently marinating in some really disgusting ambient drone thing. I will add it to the queue for an appropriate time. Thanks for the recommend!
    May 28 03:08 PM
  • Inoculaeted Having some trouble pulling up an image of the lyrics sheet on google. I'll send it to you tonight when I'm off work.
    May 28 02:49 PM
  • Inoculaeted Yea the two MIAVA tracks you mention slaughter. EP gains steam as it goes. I did relisten and the beginning is a bit "by the book" but 2 tracks later it's like...sky scraper highs. Adjusting rating. Fun fact - there's an alternative track order listed in the liner notes on that Psychonaut album.
    May 28 01:48 PM
  • Inoculaeted I get your your point with the lack of vocals. I often think Russian Circles, while great, can use a vocalist for them to ascend. Some tracks stand quite well on their own without it but others make you wish for someone to scream overtop all this epic riffage.
    May 27 11:51 PM
  • Inoculaeted Oh **** the opener on psychonaut is your least fav?! **** dude. Watch them play that: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=SYwq73xDXRk
    May 27 11:23 PM
  • garas Well, I can't judge if metal is hipster nowadays or not. But that's fact that each genre has a wider audience than previously ever before.
    May 27 06:48 PM
  • Inoculaeted lol - You took my shoutbox on quite a ride. I am hit or miss on instrumentals too but when it hits the right groove it's so crushing. My 4.5 is prob an overrate but it did make me bang my head in the shower so I'll reassess after I come down. FYI I super love the newer Night Verses so we may differ in that realm.
    May 27 05:06 PM
  • Snake. did u kno that i'm in the you in weird cities music video
    May 27 03:28 PM
  • garas Liking Dengue^3 is not a hipster thing, imo haha! But that sound like a fun group. I'll keep in mind, but I'm currently in a BM/ambient mood lately ( Converge was an exception), but I'll definitely check Rosenstock.
    May 27 12:13 PM
  • garas I remember dude, but it still surprised me since they're a pretty unknown duo. I've heard about them by a happy accident, on the Red Bull music radio.
    May 27 11:33 AM
  • garas Do you know Dengue Dengue Dengue??!! :0 Pretty awesome electronic duo!
    May 27 11:21 AM
  • Morningrise767 hahaha thats it brother! Good evening from here in Australia!
    May 27 10:30 AM
  • Morningrise767 Yeah bro Death's discog is soo ****ing good. Not a single bad album imo. I've heard Ulver earlier stuff, but not their more recent stuff, great band from what I've heard. Hahaha I'll keep those in mind for when I give you a rec. I'm pretty much open to anything, so feel free to send a rec of any genre : D
    May 27 12:33 AM
  • garas Maybe I'll give another shot to Pulling Teeth then. Also thanks for the honest answer, I'm always interested about other's feelings about personal favourites. I definitely enjoyed 'Axe To Fall', but I have to give it another listen before deciding on my final score. (So far it is a 4.0) And I liked the second half of it more, esp. the last two tracks were pretty cool after the energic riffage. And thankfully, this is that type of metalcore-ish stuff I can also like!
    May 26 09:17 PM
  • Inoculaeted Hey man. I just added an EP from a Belgian instrumental post-metal band called MIAVA. I thought you might enjoy because it's very TOOL inspired guitars and I saw you dug that Psychonaut album.
    May 26 06:29 PM
  • garas Would you please say a few words about "Axe To Fall"? What does this album mean to you?
    May 26 05:46 PM
  • garas Idk, for me a 3.5 albums are something that I'd gladly listen to time to time all the way through - but they clearly imperfect and I don't like certain thing in them. A 3.0 is when I like some songs, but I won't listen to the album frequently - which is the case with Benét, since the song "Girl Of My Dreams" is awesome, but mostly the rest was okayish.
    May 26 02:05 PM
  • garas I'm not really into indie, so I'll pass, haha! For the "out of my territory music", I pretty much liked that Donny Benét album from the front page... which is really surprising. (But those bass synths though... ahhh, catchy!)
    May 26 01:50 PM
  • garas Um, alright(?). Even my gf hated that album, so it was a big 'nope'. I can't understand that average rating, though...
    May 26 01:41 PM
  • garas A what???
    May 26 01:32 PM
  • garas 3.5 on Fiona Apple...? :0
    May 26 01:28 PM
  • Morningrise767 Oh nice bro can't go wrong with those 2 bands! I enjoyed Winterfylleths latest album too! Yeah I'll rec you something one day if I think you'll like it, and of course if you haven't heard it yet xDYeah it's easy for your list of albums to listen to pile up hahaha. But I guess that means we'll always have something new to listen to :)
    May 26 10:56 AM
  • Morningrise767 Yeah man, its pretty damn good for a debut, lots of potential with those guys. Oh really haha?! I'm always down for some recs, even though my list for albums to listen to is pretty long haha. Yeah I can overlook some of the cheesy sections if the overall quality of it is pretty good. I need to check out more of Windirs discog myself lol
    May 26 10:47 AM
  • Morningrise767 Hey bro, I checked out that Marrasmieli album and it was pretty ****en dope! Cheers for the rec bro! ^^
    May 25 11:57 PM
  • garas The power metal tag usually scares me away from checking out certain albums, but that one was recommended by YouTube, and after many years of "domestication" YT gives me pretty good albums to check out. But 'Forever Black' is mostly a heavy/doom mixture with super solid riffs, I believe you'd dig it!
    May 24 11:23 AM
  • Morningrise767 Sorry for late reply, was sleeping xD Usually they say plain black vinyls sound the best, compared to coloured/picured ones. But I haven't really noticed too much of a difference haha. I guess the only way to find out is to find some reviews of that particular pressing or spin it for yourself haha : ) Also cheers for the rec bro I'll check it out soon : ) yeah I recently checked out a Windir album and it was pretty awesome!
    May 24 12:30 AM
  • garas (And I saw your little talk with Morningrise, and I can assure you: 18 euros for a brand new vinyl was a really good price! But try to avoid stuff over 20 euros/piece. Only double LPs, or rare/colored vinyls worth more than 20.)
    May 23 08:22 PM
  • garas Have you heard the latest Cirith Ungol? It is really goooooooooood!
    May 23 08:08 PM
  • Morningrise767 hahaha yeah man, my vinyl player is a crappy one i got off ebay, but it gets the job done. I've been meaning to upgrade, but I always end up spending my money on more vinyls xD
    May 23 01:18 PM
  • Morningrise767 Anytime my man, glad to be of help! Have fun on your vinyl collecting journey : D
