 | Mongi123 Hey man, you might wanna try the new Hammock xD
 | Insurrection yep pretty standard periphery reactions so far. it def won?t win over any new fans imo, im just glad it?s not as bloated as p5
 | NudeTayne Oni 2 is worlds away from Oni 1, it's actually insane how different they are but also similar in feeling. Like a program that continues updating in order to improve itself. I can't imagine what a Starfire 2 would sound like.
 | sr388 this band came up on my shuffle after dissenter finished and it's killer stuff, i think you'll dig https://youtu.be/vk_zZsmuewc?si=ic3_f0Rl4VZQx6zN
 | NudeTayne If I had to suggest a Darko song it would be Blue Teeth and at 1:44 maybe you'll see why I love those dudes
 | NudeTayne on cinema at the cinema is one of the most underrated comedy series I've ever seen
 | NudeTayne also this is the origin of Tayne:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a8K6QUPmv8Q
 | cloakanddagger Oh damn it's been a very long time since I jammed that Reflections record. I remember loving it when it dropped, I'd probably still like it now tbh, really hoped they'd continue in that direction but I didn't like any material that band dropped afterwards, plus they're essentially dead now. Real shame.
 | cloakanddagger Eyy thanks brother, right back at ya! I don't really review regularly anymore but yours are always a joy to read!
 | NudeTayne ****in bet I will check. but yeah since Oni (1) they've been big into whiplash paced deathcore with edm/techno filler, super satisfying to someone with adhd which I assume I have lol
 | NudeTayne alright you got dibs on pale white dot, idk what I'd rec from Darko. Everything they've done is right up my alley but oni 2 has been pretty sick, been on repeat since drop
 | NudeTayne you're good fam, don't even sweat it, lots of good stuff this month, got a Darko review for their new album incoming so look out for that
 | Larkinhill lol, I appreciate the kind words my man!
 | Larkinhill But really grateful I was able to finally get out of it, got out of a 20 year marriage that was loving but full of fundamental issues at this point, and I?ve been in great relationship for 3 months with another girl in recovery (she has 2 years). Have known her for about 3 years and worked together for the past year though so our relationship was definitely a natural, gradual growth. The best way.I?ll check them out man! Keep up the great reviews! And boooo on your hatred of next gen ?
 | Larkinhill A little over a year now! I?m 44 now and this is by FAR the longest I?ve been sober since I was 10/11 years old. The most I?ve had next to this year was 3 months. Not including this past year, I?ve been collectively sober for 6-8 months at MOST since 11. And I?ve been an everything addict. Alcohol, coke, heroin, dissociatives, love psychedelics, everything man. Been a long run.
 | Larkinhill Been going pretty well man, shockingly! lol. But I guess that?s what getting sober does. Always love reading your reviews man!
 | nash1311 Wherrrrrrre is your dissertation I am awaiting impatiently
 | Emim Yeah I really like that one
 | Rowhaus I have no doubt you'll do just that brother! Looking forward to reading
 | Rowhaus New Haste is slap city! Haste the Yay baybayyyy m/
 | Emim I need to give it a proper listen still, but initial impressions were very good
 | jrlikestodance That's the run for me too!!! You should dig the first Aphex album too if you liked BoC. A bit more techno/dancefloor influenced but it's perfect for reading and chilling too. That was actually the album that turned me onto electronic music in general
 | jrlikestodance Glad to hear you dig it! I can understand for some the vocal samples can get grating but I personally love them, it adds a weird sense of familiarity, creepiness and uniqueness to the record and like you said it goes with the themes. I think I'm just so used to them cuz I've listened to the record so many times. It's one of my go tos for a late night or a trip. There's a bit less of that on the follow up and they venture into some darker/weirder territory
 | jrlikestodance Yessir!!! I just heard it for the first time myself a couple days ago and think they really did the blend of genres justice. Shame they got overshadowed by The Mars Volta (no shade to them) cuz that album rocks. Want to get to their other albums over time
 | jrlikestodance Have you ever listened to Sparta's first record? Feel like it would be right up your alley as it's right at the intersection of midwest emo, post hardcore and little bit of math rock. Not really in my wheelhouse but I was surprised by how much I enjoyed it
 | Zac124 And the new At the Gates album is indeed great. Probably their best since Slaughter imo.
 | Zac124 Not huge on the vocals but I really enjoyed everything else about the Reeking Aura album. I'll definitely be listening to it more and hopefully get more used to the vocal style.
 | Zac124 Haven't listened to it yet. Will check it out tomorrow and I'll report back!
 | omgbecky Really? I don't hear too many complaints tbh. I like it here a lot better than the last state I lived in. That's what's up! The reviews are prob my fave thing about this place.
 | Feather For sure! I owe finding Twighlight Sad and Ronker to you! Two constant rotations for me so far this year.
 | DaveyMonsoon Same here. Yeah, I still pop in here every once in a blue moon, so no need to worry about that. I'll also be another one to say congrats on reaching staff. You've definitely worked hard for it, from what I can tell.
 | Feather Hey thanks Futures! I have been doing pretty well. How have you been? Always great seeing you around in a thread even when we are not at all in agreement lol. btw, congrats on staff... I am not sure exactly how new that is... not at all used to seeing it under your name! But it is well deserved!
 | omgbecky Gtfo! I'm originally a cheesehead! Now I'm just lost in Ohio. What got you into writing reviews?
 | omgbecky Congratulations! That must be a lot of work you put in. The weather is improving and there is much to be excited about. I'm doing alright. My personal fave is Eve! Particularly the songs Shame, See You on the Other Side, and Sins of Every Father. As for Revival, the best track is the last one, Taken for a Bath. It's slowed down and sans harsh vocals and makes me feel more of an emotional impact.
 | omgbecky Did you ever check out any of Emery Reimagined?
 | climactic yoooo staff congrats! when did that happen, i'm out of the loop. hope you're good brotha
 | jrlikestodance That Bodysnatcher album ****in rips. Usually I'm not huge on the more downtempo leaning deathcore but that hits all the right spots for me like Acacia Strain does. I also like that they're not afraid to lean into their hardcore influences. The 2 step part on the track w Scott Vogel was ****in amazing
 | jrlikestodance One of my friends was just telling me to check this out cuz it gave him some Red Chord vibes. Will bring it up in my queue now that you're cosigning too. Florida core bands have been absolutely slaying lately
 | Emim See I prefer just a small logo on the front and then the main thing on the back lol
 | Emim I hate the current trend of putting all sorts of crap on the sleeves.
 | Emim Haste the Day dropped some sick merch too
 | Emim That's sick but a bit loud for me lol
 | LouBreed Thanks for reaching out, it's great to have a conversation like this! That's why I love Sputnik. So, this is how it goes: you come to Ukraine when there is no more war, I come to the USA when there is no more trump
 | LouBreed I'm an English translator at a French humanitarian organisation, hence good English. We do demining, physical rehabilitation for people with severe injuries, psychological support and some other stuff. Never been to the States, no. I probably could go abroad despite the current restrictions, but I would only like to travel when this war is over. Don't want to abandon Ukraine now, not even temporary.
 | LouBreed Hi, man! Yep, I live in Kyiv, never really considered leaving Ukraine. Sometimes travel closer to the frontline for work purposes (but not super close, although I would if needed). I have tentative plans to review some interesting Ukrainian artists over the next few months, and already reviewed a couple recently, notably Palindrom and Kekht Arakh. Thanks for the support!
 | jrlikestodance I'm very lucky I lived close to venues like The Talent Farm and Churchills when I lived in South Florida. We were spoiled with awesome hardcore, punk and grind DIY bookings weekly cuz of awesome promoters who loved the scene. Seriously some of the best years of my life and made me love this s*** for life
 | jrlikestodance So happy to hear you dug it!!! My main criticism as well is that it's samey but the style is done so well I can overlook that for the most part. They definitely used the noise/electronics/samples very tastefully as well which you don't see from a lot of hardcore bands in that vein, great shout. They really just know how to make a badass mosh part and I can only imagine how crazy those new jams will go. Looking forward to their United Blood set hitting Youtube next week
 | bach You wanna know another reason why I hate OSDM? I have listened to all the most famous music genres growing up. In metal it was thrash, in hip hop it was 90s boom bap, in rock it was classic rock. I've heard these genres over and over again in my adolescence. Over and over again the same Metallica songs, the same Tupac songs, the same The Beatles songs. My brother loved Morbid Angel and other death metal bands. Do I listen to any of these bands now? **** no. I simply find all of these artists hav
 | zakalwe Been three times before but just to the main tourist areas. Florida, New York, Vegas. Loved New York.
 | budgie you'll love the leads on this album, surprised you don't have it rated: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TJH0eBtnbcs
 | jrlikestodance Same here lol, I didn't believe it til I saw someone with a VPN confirm it was real
 | jrlikestodance Read somewhere that Jacob said they wanted to tap into more of their noise rock influences on the new one so I think you may get your wish. I'd love to see where they go with that
 | jrlikestodance Damn I loved the new Converge. Much prefer it to Dusk/Bloodmoon as far as my personal tastes and I did the discog run right after my first jam. I feel like at this point in their career, the more straightforward sound is really doing it for me. A lot of memorable and great tunes and it never overstays its welcome. I can see the argument for it being weaker since it's less adventurous than previous material but it's really speaking to me. Honestly holding up as my aoty
 | jrlikestodance Also check the new Division of Mind, it goes stupid hard
 | jrlikestodance Haven't heard much Anthrax but Among the Living has some great bangers. Happy to hear! Totally agree that music has been healing lately, 2026 is slowly shaping up nicely for my personal tastes.
 | zakalwe Heading to California, picking up a car from San Francisco and doing a driving thing for a couple of weeks. Avoiding Vegas. Will cost a fortune you slags charge for absolutely everything.
 | Emim Email? What am I, in my 30s? Wouldn't say I'm a big movie guy, but I see a decent amount. Don't think I've seen a single movie this year though lol
 | Emim If nothing else just a way to keep in touch and talk music when sput is napping. Plus you can rate pretty much every form of media over there
 | Emim Also Cultist dropped a new track and it's a heater
 | Emim Have you made/considered making a mediasnobs account? It's run by Maniac! from here. Pretty small for now but at least a place to use when sout goes down
 | zakalwe Im alright mate hope the same goes for you. Having a month holiday next month and heading to the states with the wife that we are both looking forward to. Plane will probably be hijacked given all the nonsense that is happening in the world at the minute but **** it.
 | zakalwe Haha nice to know. I will give it a go mate. I have only listened to 14 Autumns and never really taken to them.
 | jrlikestodance That Cultist song goes hard af, can't wait for the album. They really do that sound proper justice in the big 26. Also I'm finally jamming SOD and I'm mad it's taken me this long. It's right up my alley between the hard riffs, awesome mosh parts and fun tongue-in-cheek lyrics. Thanks for sliding both of these my way brother, hope life has been treating you well
 | Lasssie Dude i was really afraid there for a second!Nothing can truly replace this place!
 | jrlikestodance Definitely will check it out. Been getting back in touch with the punkier side of the core and punk in general lately so sounds right up my alley
 | jrlikestodance Absolutely great choices! I also would include Dealing With It by D.R.I. which is a bit more on the punk side. Hugely influential on what would become powerviolence later in the 80s
 | jrlikestodance Definitely will hop on it soon. Always can use some good riffs/pits and I love the tongue in cheek humor some crossover bands have like Carnivore and D.R.I. Gotta jump into Age of Quarrel by the Cro-Mags next. It basically set the blueprint for both metalcore and the future of New York hardcore. Seriously such a banger!!!
 | jrlikestodance I've actually never listened to SOD despite my many forays into crossover! I know that should revoke my card but idk why I never got around to em. Definitely will do soon off your recommendation. I saw you bumping it the other day!
 | jrlikestodance Definitely agree! Everyone?s doing it now. Btw I think you may enjoy this new Florida band No Truth that have an album coming out soon. They play Slayercore in the vein of All Out War and Day of Suffering with a slight hint of Bolt Thrower in their riffs. Young kids making me a proud South Floridian lol
 | Emim Definitely a gem of a find
 | Emim Been listening to that Haste album a lot lately
 | jrlikestodance Totally get where you are coming from, I hardly seek that sound and there's so many bands doing it right now. Funny enough, I always joked that PtW was one of the first Deftonescore bands lol
 | jrlikestodance They do also have two new members who played on the album since the reunion including Vadim from This Day Forward so that also could have changed the songwriting dynamic. Either way great review my brother and a great score criticisms aside. So happy to have them back
 | jrlikestodance Just read the review and loved it!!! Historically accurate and great assessment of their discography and style, I think the context really helps given the new album's sound. Also think you made some great criticisms despite my score being higher and I can see where you're coming from. I haven't had too much time to listen to the record but I really enjoyed it given the circumstances and it not being as ambitious as their last few albums
 | Mongi123 New review and rec for you up now man. Give it a read for me?
 | oltnabrick Definitely missed some stuff but added some lesser known classics
 | oltnabrick Same but the music was epic so I pretended it wasnt evil
 | oltnabrick It was one of my favorites when I was younger. I havent listened to it in ages now lol
 | oltnabrick https://youtu.be/czZ6O9XRqUQ?si=7jTF0Gmu-uwJA9dM This too
 | oltnabrick You might like Trauma Concept - The End of Denial. Its more death metal and nu metal but it?s heavy like Slayer
 | RVAHC13 That looks pretty good, ill add it to my watchlist!
 | RVAHC13 Im doing alright thanks for asking, winter was brutal so ive been mostly just tucking my head down, saving money and watching movies. Other than that been on a diet of mostly slow rock, jazz and classical as of late. Sounds pretty snooty lol
 | RVAHC13 Haha glad to see it, youve certainly earned it
 | RVAHC13 Making good use of those staff ratings I see
 | cylinder Absolutely. Sometimes it feels like music is "getting boring" but really all it is is I just need a little break. Getting back into the swing of things and really feeling it again is one of the best feelings in the world. Also, revisiting albums I wasn't crazy about the first time around and finding I like em a lot more now! I think sometimes you just need to be a bit older/have more life experience to appreciate certain things.
 | cylinder With you on finding solace in music. I took a break from listening to new stuff for a few months, now I'm back to devouring. Feels good, hah.
 | botb Hell yeah man, gotta see this s*** through to the inevitable 404. What?ve you been up to
 | artificialbox always nice to see you too bud! sorry for the late reply, I was waiting for a moment when I could actually listen to the album and read the review. I?ll be sure to leave a comment on the rev after I do. I appreciate you thinking of me with the rec ??
 | cylinder For sure haha, yeah I've been doin alright. Hope you've been well too bro. And yeah I'm definitely with you there, I love learning about different cultures too, so getting to do that while also enjoying some great music is a win-win.
 | Titan Maiden is my favorite traditional heavy metal band of all time. The Number of the Beast (album) blew my mind. Somewhere In Time is a top 5 all timer for me!!! I will be there when you start posting haha....
 | botb Hell yeah dude will check it out! Things are good over here just being a dad lmao
 | Titan I love Kornheiser btw?
 | Titan Hell yeah bro just calling it how I see it! Keep them threads bumping bro?
 | cylinder then that'll fade and switch to something else. Very interesting album.
 | cylinder Silly artist name yeah lol, the album's legit tho. They're from Venezuela. An "encava" is a "common, often rickety public bus." These buses are known for playing salsa and reggaeton. I guess what the album's trying to do is create the feeling of being on one of these buses- it hops around from sound to sound as if someone was constantly switching stations on a radio. It'll settle on a random sample, and then this heavy electronic reggaeton beat will pop up from behind...
 | JayEnder You're too kind my man. Must be that Wisconsinite hospitality ;] yeah we have a good crew leftover here and I gotta say you've been working your ass off yourself. Congrats on staff btw I just noticed your promotion! Keep it up brother your writing skills are improving with each review!
 | nash1311 Oh yeah. Back half gives major BTBAM vibes. Cleans especially. Very Alaska
 | nash1311 Bahaha. I dig it. I?m not obsessed or anything but yeah. I hear WoA in the riffing and Vox for sure
 | nash1311 Hope for the dying is like ABR War of Ages For Today orchestral synth lmao
 | Lasssie Understandable and youre doing gods work reviewing and bringing attention to albums like the Ronker one! Im just doing my duty preaching the word of State Faults and All You Know is Hell ;)
 | Lasssie Futures! Friendly reminder to check both Children of The Moon by State Faults and A Quiet Conversation While Burning to Death by All You Know is Hell ;) If you already have just jam again, hehe
 | JayEnder Glad you're here too bro, and I greatly appreciate that. You and a select few others are the only reason I still check in here in the first place tbh. This place is nearing its demise I fear, sucks that new users can't join and a lot of our friends just up and left. But s*** man I'm staying til the wheels fall off and I hope you do too
 | omgbecky You really shouldn't feed my ego.
 | JayEnder Oh damn dude I didn't mean to ignore you or anything. Sorry if I came across that way, kinda just had a hellish week and haven't been on here much besides posting that new review. But no you're literally one of my favorite ppl on here and I don't want the vibe to be odd bc I like you a lot.
 | Emim Well for what it's worth I'm praying for you man. And yeah this is like the 4th time I've seen emery lol. But As Cities Burn is playing too
 | Emim I purposefully don't check any political threads. I like having a small bastion of politic-free internet. Health stuff sucks man, sorry to hear that. I'm alright though, pretty status quo but I am seeing emery tomorrow night so I'm excited about that.
 | Emim How you doing bro? Haven't seen you around much
 | jrlikestodance One thing that makes me happy tho is more mixed bills than ever. I love seeing genres crossovee fanbases cuz lots of us musicheads love stuff all across the board
 | jrlikestodance Metal is def in an interesting place now. There's more crossover in fanbases and genres which is great but I also hate how much bulls*** is pushed by the mainstream metal era. I will never accept Sleep Token, Bilmuri or Spiritbox as the new face of the metalcore genre!!!
 | omgbecky Thanks, I appreciate that. I'm a lot better than the last time I made an appearance! Hope you are well.
 | jrlikestodance Lamb of God is so worth it live! Even today they still got it and it seems like the new album should rule. I didn't keep up with the trial when it went down. Wish I did though because Randy's whole experience sounds nuts
 | omgbecky Indeed I have. I'll probably disappear again.
 | budgie https://youtu . be/rRXx5hfk58M?t=245 this lick sounds very megadeth
 | jrlikestodance I've always considered them more a metalcore/hardcore band that hit it big w the metal scene like Hatebreed. You def hear it in the songs and writing. Seeing the Ashes tour a couple years back reminded me how many hard mosh parts the band has in their catalog. I actually should look into that book myself since I have more time to read freely these days
 | jrlikestodance Dude that Hardlore interview was so good!!! It really resonated with me that Randy sees himself as more of a hardcore guy than a metalhead. I've always felt the same way. I couldn't believe he shouted out DoM along with 3 of the most classic hc records. Great band that leans more towards 90s metalcore. Def think you would dig em
 | jrlikestodance RIP indeed, he was a legend. No shade to the other guys in Slayer but I totally agree he was the secret sauce. Btw nice rating on that Killing Pace record, glad you checked it out
 | jrlikestodance Jeff brought a great punk influence to Slayer's sound. I feel that it made them stand out from the rest of the big 4 and like you said you can hear them in so many genres. You still can't go wrong with ripping Slayer riffs today lol
 | jrlikestodance Dude that cover ****in rips!!! Hadn't heard it before, but I love how it stayed true to the original while still keeping their sound in tact. Not a lot of bands could pull that off especially covering Slayer. Warms my heart that you also dig Hatebreed too my brother. Also, congrats on staff my man!
 | Muzz79 Nah I haven?t but read Martin Popoff?s Megadeth book couple years ago which led to my discog ranking. Got a good sense of his life but might see if I can pick up a copy. The new alb could be so much better sigh
 | sr388 lol no one better suited for it!
 | sr388 congrats on staff man! the metalcore community is counting on your continued support
 | nash1311 You too you 4ever core bro. Happy for and proud of your efforts!
 | Muzz79 Nice of you to say mate, I'll do best to maintain standard
 | DoofDoof Cheers for saying, appreciate that, really am wishing the current team here all the good luck in the world.
 | DoofDoof Just enjoy it, seems a good group contributing to the site right now. There might be a time I can write regularly again but it isnt quite yet, just happy posting stuff when I can for now...a case of never say never for me though.
 | Muzz79 And congrats on your promotion, well well deserved for staff position
 | Muzz79 Cheers futures I think it was u that made me think maybe I should apply so thx for the lil push dude
 | ScuroFantasma Hell yeah man! And yeah, I think you?ve inspired me to do it, I?ll go through the discog over the next week or so.
 | ScuroFantasma Esoteric Warfare rocks yeah, that?s one I have jammed a lot. I haven?t heard Daemon or Ordo, and the two after the debut I briefly heard years ago but I don?t have much of an impression left.
 | ScuroFantasma I should do that at some point, there?s a couple Mayhem albums I haven?t jammed yet. Converge I haven?t heard anything except Jane Doe. So many bands, so little time.
 | ScuroFantasma Glad you?re doing well, I?ve been pretty good man, can?t complain. I?ve also been a bit out of the loop on new music but I?ve been jamming stuff consistently lately, mostly just projects I already like though haha
 | bellovddd hit me up brother! https://rateyourmusic.com/~bellovddd
 | Emim New is mostly stuff you've heard a la impending doom and haste the day. New Guilt Trip dropped today but idk if that's something you're into
 | bellovddd hope you're ok my brother!! you're the reason I log in to sput to check up on! And bump like three albums!! miss ya bro
 | Jmal00 I?ve had enough internet for a lifetime I guess.
 | Jmal00 Yes. It?s all a sick plot to destroy my sanity.
 | Jmal00 Ayy yo don?t ****ing encourage rockarollacola and his retardery. Now he?s never gonna stop.
 | Aids all good dog I was definitely being a dick too
 | RVAHC13 I take the train there on my days off sometimes, sorry youre feeling cruddy, wishing you a swift recovery! And Im well thanks, pretty broke atm but everything else is fine I guess
 | RVAHC13 Walking around Chicago stopped in a record store and they had some old promotional album posters and the first one I immediately noticed was Futures lol Hope you are well
 | Christbait Appreciate all the support. I like this site, I like a lot of the people on this site, and I wish others understood it costs nothing to just be nice sometimes.
 | bellovddd I feel ya brother! I'm jamming the same old s***. On a blessthefall binge right now lol. its 2010 all over again!!
 | bellovddd hope you're doing good brother! Keep jamming!!
 | oltnabrick Listen to From the Shallows if you dont already
 | Tunaboy45 Just a few miles down the road! But I moved in with my partner, so that was an adjustment (but it's been great). I'll let you know how Godspeed are, although I'm sure they'll be amazing - Jessica Moss of Silver Mt. Zion opened for SWANS when I saw them, I'd recommend her solo stuff. That's kind of you to offer around reading my stuff too, I may just take you up on that at some point. I was tinkering with writing about Everything Everything's Get to Heaven, I have a few ideas floating around.
 | Tunaboy45 Busy with life to be honest! Moving especially. That's awesome about the AOTY round-up, I'll check that out. I'm hoping to do some writing again, I initially thought 2025 was a slow year for new music but we've had some fantastic releases, especially later on. I'm seeing Godspeed and Jarboe in the new year, which I'm hyped about.
 | Emim It was good. Quiet, but that's the way I like it
 | Emim Hey man, hope you had a nice Christmas! Can confirm that new Diamonds to Dust album is sick
 | Tunaboy45 All good thanks man! I usually spend more time on here during the Christmas downtime, how was your 2025? Any good gigs?
 | Hawks Bro check Discord!! I sent you a message last week regarding our possible podcast idea. Idk if you saw it!
 | Lasssie Bro check my latest review! I think youll dig it
 | bellovddd jamming mineral. thought of you xoxo
 | RVAHC13 https://www.sputnikmusic.com/soundoff.php?albumid=537740 thought you might enjoy this
 | Emim Probably on the same level at least
 | Lasssie Worthless Animal too is kinda cool, and You WIthout End could be a cool opener it just kinda drags on too long
 | Lasssie I think OCHM is kinda overhated. I can see how people dont like Night People and Near, but Honeycomb and Canary Yellow rule hard!
 | Lasssie Hell yeah! Totally agree! It is the perfect culimination of everything theyve ever made and pure perfection! First time i heard Heathen and that screaming chorus came in i was like "HOLY s***". Every track just shines. Even the ones people say are weak, like The Garden Route, i love lol
 | Lasssie Awesome to see youre digging Deafheaven, man! Winona is otherworldly! And i will give a friendly reminder to check COTM by State Faults and Lower Definition ;)
 | Emim Yeah that new track is nuts
 | Emim Really digging that Rosasharin record. Gotta keep an eye on them. You ever heard Renascent? Some pretty baller blackened melodeath christcore
 | trilo nice mang! you'd probably like symbology of shelter then i think it's their best. the progression on that album is immaculate very much an ~album experience~
 | Emim Looks like Mike from Convictions is featuring on the next Diamonds to Dust single ?
 | AlkemestRedux I thought I might be doing this wrong lol thanks for the heads up!
 | bellovddd been binging convictions and god damn. They do be slapping.
 | bellovddd ye i love them! Their latest album is a beast as well! fun band!!!
 | Emim Oh I didn't even know that. Makes it even cooler imo
 | botb Oh hell yeah they?re great too.
 | botb 1 to JR?s no warning rec too, that?s a top 5 hardcore album of all time for me. Same with the first cromags record
 | botb Thanks man! And Hahaha hell yeah. As far as like riffy proto-metalcore goes, master killer is kind of the bible of sorts. Check out Kickback too for similar style, NYHC style from France and they?re all sketch balls
 | jrlikestodance Sounds awesome, never heard of that band before. Definitely will give it a spin soon m/
 | jrlikestodance Since you're digging Terror I would also recommend Ill Blood by No Warning and Prying Eyes by Cruel Hand. Two of my favorites in that style
 | jrlikestodance Also have this list of some NYHC classics - https://www.sputnikmusic.com/list.php?memberid=1154534
 | jrlikestodance Todd from Nails was actually their guitarist and wrote the first 2 Terror records. His old straight edge band Carry On before Terror is also a good jam. Only 1 album but it rips
 | jrlikestodance Dude Terror was my gateway into proper hardcore. Saw them open for Emmure and Miss May I and it blew my mind how many people went just to see them and the insane crowd reaction. I even stage dived and missed Emmure's set cuz I got kicked out lol. First three records are very close to my heart
 | Emim I've heard them before, not sure if it was that album. Don't remember anything lol, I'll have to check again
 | Emim They definitely get a bit cheesy at times but I love that band. Pretty sure they do like a nu-metal rap verse on one of their songs lol. Anything before the Corpus Christi EP is a very mixed bag though, I think only one current member is original.
 | jrlikestodance You definitely get used to the more hc style vocals the more you listen, in some cases I find they compliment the music much better and may lead you down to more traditional punk and hardcore stuff as well. And the Tom Araya comparison is a good shout too, I always thought Jorge from Merauder reminded me a bit of Max Cavalera myself but can see that too. I recommend digging through some more NY classics there's endless cool stuff to be found!
 | jrlikestodance Sooo happy to hear you're digging it man! It has everything I want in a hardcore record memorable riffs, tight grooves, catchy songs, and enough variety between the songs to keep it fresh while staying true to the style. Title track was stuck in my head for weeks when I first heard it and Time Ends is a perfect opener
 | jrlikestodance I was very surprised to see Facedown put out the record also, I figured that label was long gone by now. Definitely a great release and I'm excited to see where they go next as well. Honestly serves as a great contrast to what Acacia are doing right now even if they're a little similar
 | jrlikestodance That Cultist album rules man! Totally giving Christcore Acacia Strain but I feel like they do it with their own spin. Doesn't sound overproduced either for the style it's going for as well. Thanks for shooting that my way

 | sr388 i actually wrote my first music review on here when i was 13 which i just remembered lol! so funny looking back at my writing as a child: https://www.sputnikmusic.com/review/30856/Haste-the-Day-When-Everything-Falls/totally different from georgia which i miss sometimes, but it's perfect for my line of work and i go back to atlanta a couple times a year (headed back next month for the holidays). how do you like wisconsin?
 | sr388 yup i had an account from 2009-2011 on here, before just lurking for the better part of a decade, then eventually felt the inevitable pull to get called an idiot by people for liking emmure again lol! how long have you been on sput for? and nice my friends just got married in wisconsin! i'm from georgia but live in california these days.
 | sr388 i'm also 30! i got into christcore in middle school and started going to shows when i was 14/spent high school going to little christian metal venues, i was obsessed with the genre which is funny because i was also a sputnik user at the time when anything core was much more hated on here. i had to pretend i wasn't listening to half of what i actually enjoyed lol! are you also from the states? i've wondered if my experience with the genre was heightened by being in the south.
 | sr388 my ultimate scream the prayer memory is norma jean, the chariot, and sleeping giant as the 3 headliners. kicked in the face so hard that it felt like time stopped during the chariot and stage dove to "memphis" when norma jean closed their set with it. bring me back to 2011! i never made it to cornerstone which i would pay serious money to time travel to. one of my favorite videos is the devil wears prada playing in like a parking lot at cornerstone in 2006.
