| omgbecky Congratulations! That must be a lot of work you put in. The weather is improving and there is much to be excited about. I'm doing alright. My personal fave is Eve! Particularly the songs Shame, See You on the Other Side, and Sins of Every Father. As for Revival, the best track is the last one, Taken for a Bath. It's slowed down and sans harsh vocals and makes me feel more of an emotional impact.

| LouBreed I'm an English translator at a French humanitarian organisation, hence good English. We do demining, physical rehabilitation for people with severe injuries, psychological support and some other stuff. Never been to the States, no. I probably could go abroad despite the current restrictions, but I would only like to travel when this war is over. Don't want to abandon Ukraine now, not even temporary.

| LouBreed Hi, man! Yep, I live in Kyiv, never really considered leaving Ukraine. Sometimes travel closer to the frontline for work purposes (but not super close, although I would if needed). I have tentative plans to review some interesting Ukrainian artists over the next few months, and already reviewed a couple recently, notably Palindrom and Kekht Arakh. Thanks for the support!

| jrlikestodance I'm very lucky I lived close to venues like The Talent Farm and Churchills when I lived in South Florida. We were spoiled with awesome hardcore, punk and grind DIY bookings weekly cuz of awesome promoters who loved the scene. Seriously some of the best years of my life and made me love this s*** for life

| jrlikestodance So happy to hear you dug it!!! My main criticism as well is that it's samey but the style is done so well I can overlook that for the most part. They definitely used the noise/electronics/samples very tastefully as well which you don't see from a lot of hardcore bands in that vein, great shout. They really just know how to make a badass mosh part and I can only imagine how crazy those new jams will go. Looking forward to their United Blood set hitting Youtube next week

In metal it was thrash, in hip hop it was 90s boom bap, in rock it was classic rock. I've heard these genres over and over again in my adolescence. I feel like at this point in their career, the more straightforward sound is really doing it for me. A lot of memorable and great tunes and it never overstays its welcome. Gotta jump into Age of Quarrel by the Cro-Mags next. It basically set the blueprint for both metalcore and the future of New York hardcore. Seriously such a banger!!!

They play Slayercore in the vein of All Out War and Day of Suffering with a slight hint of Bolt Thrower in their riffs. Young kids making me a proud South Floridian lol

Also think you made some great criticisms despite my score being higher and I can see where you're coming from. I haven't had too much time to listen to the record but I really enjoyed it given the circumstances and it not being as ambitious as their last few albums

 | cylinder Absolutely. Sometimes it feels like music is "getting boring" but really all it is is I just need a little break. Getting back into the swing of things and really feeling it again is one of the best feelings in the world. Also, revisiting albums I wasn't crazy about the first time around and finding I like em a lot more now! I think sometimes you just need to be a bit older/have more life experience to appreciate certain things.

I guess what the album's trying to do is create the feeling of being on one of these buses- it hops around from sound to sound as if someone was constantly switching stations on a radio. It'll settle on a random sample, and then this heavy electronic reggaeton beat will pop up from behind...

| jrlikestodance I've always considered them more a metalcore/hardcore band that hit it big w the metal scene like Hatebreed. You def hear it in the songs and writing. Seeing the Ashes tour a couple years back reminded me how many hard mosh parts the band has in their catalog. I actually should look into that book myself since I have more time to read freely these days

| jrlikestodance Jeff brought a great punk influence to Slayer's sound. I feel that it made them stand out from the rest of the big 4 and like you said you can hear them in so many genres. You still can't go wrong with ripping Slayer riffs today lol

| jrlikestodance Dude Terror was my gateway into proper hardcore. Saw them open for Emmure and Miss May I and it blew my mind how many people went just to see them and the insane crowd reaction. I even stage dived and missed Emmure's set cuz I got kicked out lol. First three records are very close to my heart

| Emim They definitely get a bit cheesy at times but I love that band. Pretty sure they do like a nu-metal rap verse on one of their songs lol. Anything before the Corpus Christi EP is a very mixed bag though, I think only one current member is original.

| jrlikestodance You definitely get used to the more hc style vocals the more you listen, in some cases I find they compliment the music much better and may lead you down to more traditional punk and hardcore stuff as well. And the Tom Araya comparison is a good shout too, I always thought Jorge from Merauder reminded me a bit of Max Cavalera myself but can see that too. I recommend digging through some more NY classics there's endless cool stuff to be found!

It has everything I want in a hardcore record memorable riffs, tight grooves, catchy songs, and enough variety between the songs to keep it fresh while staying true to the style. Title track was stuck in my head for weeks when I first heard it and Time Ends is a perfect opener

| sr388 i'm also 30! i got into christcore in middle school and started going to shows when i was 14/spent high school going to little christian metal venues, i was obsessed with the genre which is funny because i was also a sputnik user at the time when anything core was much more hated on here. i had to pretend i wasn't listening to half of what i actually enjoyed lol! are you also from the states? i've wondered if my experience with the genre was heightened by being in the south.

| sr388 my ultimate scream the prayer memory is norma jean, the chariot, and sleeping giant as the 3 headliners. kicked in the face so hard that it felt like time stopped during the chariot and stage dove to "memphis" when norma jean closed their set with it. bring me back to 2011! i never made it to cornerstone which i would pay serious money to time travel to. one of my favorite videos is the devil wears prada playing in like a parking lot at cornerstone in 2006.

| sr388 woah i had no idea brook was guesting on sleeping giant songs all the way back in 2007, this rips. it's bringing me back to seeing sleeping giant on scream the prayer. and yes i've gotta hop in that thread! i've been good man, work is crazy but i can't complain, hope you're good too!

| sr388 "meet me somewhere quiet" and "fall on your knees" are especially trancelike up until they hit those final breakdowns, i love the payoff to "fall" with brook from impending d crashing through at the very end. i really enjoyed the new convictions album but i haven't listened again since it dropped, i'm gonna revisit that. new impending doom should be insane, i know they announced they're writing a new album and "christ is king" it an ass beater. i wish the new holyname EP was maybe a song longer.

| sr388 dude glad you enjoyed the holyname record! it's such a unique project, almost meditative at points. i actually caught them live with convictions and impending doom last year, all of them killed it. did you peep the new holyname EP yet?

| Emim Yeah I dig the whole aesthetic. Very deathcore while not being deathcore. And you should definitely give it a review of you feel inspired. They could use some love around here

| Emim I really dig their guest spots too. The vocals on Preacher II get pretty crazy. Listening to the newer album now and yeah his gutturals are great. Not usually a beatdown fan but in smaller doses it gets me going

| Emim Oh yeah Cultist is a good one. Really like their first album but haven't listened to the second one too much. If you like that maybe check out Mouth of the South. More melodic and pretty unknown

| Emim I'm definitely due for another listen. I wasn't a huge fan of that style when it was possible so I wrote it off pretty quickly. For All Eternity is another similar one with a beastly vocalist

| Emim It's very modern metalcore, lots of high pitched clean choruses, but it's done well overall. Mike is one of the best vocalists out there imo. I'd check the album I Won't Survive and if you like that keep going

| artificialbox s*** dude, I'm glad you're starting to feel better. I gotta get back to working out too lol. Definitely as I get older I'm starting to realize the importance of rest and trying to reduce stress as much as possible. It takes so long to heal from things nowadays and being burnt out and stressed just makes it so much worse. I'm hoping for a happy healthy 2026 for both of us

| artificialbox Yeah I do believe the reason there have been so many cases of people making contrib and then not producing anything is because they lose the dopamine motivation of getting a nice pos ratio lmao. life has been alright, I got mono in April and am still recovering from it, so my entire summer went down the drain and I defs put on a few cozy pounds but I am learning to just go easy on myself and listen to my body/give it what it needs to recover. How was your summer?

| trilo ngl this year has kinda sucked overall so i?m looking for the same lol throw some recs my way if you got em. but Suffering Hour EP and Noise Trail Immersion LP are great. if you havent jammed either band i?d recommend The Cycling Reckoning and Symbology of Shelter respectively tho. amazing albums

| Emim They've got some corny lyrics at times but overall pretty solid. Just stick with the albums with the current vocalist, the older stuff is a mixed bag

I miss this place and I kinda cut ties with that other group of ex-staffers for reasons I won?t get into here (its nothing crazy anyway). I?d defs be down to collab some day, I?m not sure how that would work logistically but it could be a fun experiment!

For Your Health has only gotten better to me, the record they dropped this year is some seriously good s***.

| climactic that warms my heart lol. btw CONGRATS on contrib, well deserved! old Armed stuff (Untitled album) is more straightforward hardcore but they always had a noisy experimental edge. new one's as good a starting point as any but i think people love the Untitler album the most. i'll check the grenadier album, glad its not racist lol although the band name does seem to be from an Argo song hmmmmm
