  • Tunaboy45 How's is going mate? Rough one for Spurs at the moment. Glad the site is back, I think I'm getting back into reviewing too.
    April 6 08:46 AM
  • Futures sweet! how's life been for you lately friend?
    April 6 06:06 AM
  • Futures you ever listen to the twilight sad big man? their new one is great. seems like your kinda jam. always think of you when i jam some british stuff haha!
    April 5 06:23 AM
  • DoofDoof My dad the other day summed it up, said 'I had the chance to move the whole family to the States, looking back now knowing what would happen here, I realise I should have done it' - quite the revealing realisation. He worked there for about three years, North Carolina, mostly alongside Texans and Canadians though for some reason. Well was construction industry so guess that figures. I could have been yank, doof yank.
    March 28 09:59 AM
  • DoofDoof Never been to California, bit of a dream one that. Have a mate who is a bit of a dreamer and went to LA for a few weeks, loved going to places with all the old rock stars and pornstars hanging about. He loved the fakeness lol! Not really where I woudl spend all my time if I was in California.
    March 28 09:56 AM
  • DoofDoof Heading to Lanzarote next week, last holiday I left my phone in the safe each day any only checked it twice daily briefly plus sometimes I would go to the hotel gym and listen to some music doing that. Was incredible. The wife was all for it although she would say take a photo of this or that sometimes and I would have to say I had no phone! Doing it again this time, swear even my eyesight improved a bit.
    March 28 08:55 AM
  • DoofDoof Agreed, it could get rid of some of the rot, all the money making and real estate acquisitions outside of the football. The owners and even maybe some of the fans could do with a humbling. Could be argued the current success of Villa could be put down to the soul searching they did in the Championship.
    March 22 05:42 PM
  • DoofDoof We are fooked now, that was weak. Our relegation rival will be the team who loses between Leeds and West Ham in their 6 pointer in the next set of fixtures...though it is looking more than likely both those sides are in better shape than we are. Will be madness in the Championship.
    March 22 05:20 PM
  • DoofDoof That Squeeze album is growing on me...if these early songs were recorded at the time they were originally written I guess the presentation would have been more pure glam rock/pub rock...but now it is a bit pop/sophisti pop. Clever ideas to return to this material and you have to love a concept album.
    March 18 10:09 PM
  • DoofDoof This game is insane...I imagine now the performance against Forest will be flat!
    March 18 09:21 PM
  • RVAHC13 youtube.com/watch?v=yPfB3eRX130
    March 15 10:49 PM
  • DoofDoof Still all about the Forest game yeah. Think we will win it now. In other news...I have finally fallen for a Morrissey album nearly the whole way through, Vauxhall and I has sunk its hooks in lol! That and Hatful of Hollow are the two I can get behind so far.
    March 15 08:43 PM
  • DoofDoof Bit of fight today, Liverpool have their own problems but showed they couldnt get away with resting players in the PL. Richarlison is bloody awful but he likes being in the role of saviour...he could claw us out of this hole by being the lump to actually bundle in the required goals.
    March 15 07:21 PM
  • DoofDoof We need to change manager again, this Tudor fella looks like hes measuring us for a coffin. Just bring in Sherwood for the banter
    March 6 09:41 AM
  • DoofDoof The Rob Zombie is alright, might be a 3.5!
    March 6 09:40 AM
  • DoofDoof I would try out Parker...bookies think Poch is nailed on though
    February 22 09:30 PM
  • DoofDoof It has to be a Stuart to follow Tudor surely?
    February 22 07:12 PM
  • Valzentia Snide says thanks and he really appreciates it and he'll send you the track when it's released!
    February 12 06:29 PM
  • DoofDoof Yeah, shows a lot of musicians and song writers out there get effectively typecast and could have released a load of stuff in a totally different mode...that might have been even better. Because others rely on them, fans love them, they stay on the set course. I would take five less latter Madness albums and five more like this! Talented though.
    February 11 04:12 PM
  • DoofDoof Do think of Guy Garvey/Elbow a bit in the way he structures things, even more understated and to the emotional crux though. Are the Children Happy you hear the Madness - devastating song that.
    February 11 04:06 PM
  • DoofDoof Four songs in and it sounds quality already tbh, definitely the right time in my life for this one I think
    February 11 03:45 PM
  • DoofDoof Proper obscure rec! Bravo
    February 11 03:34 PM
  • DoofDoof Cathal Joseph "Carl" Smyth...lol
    February 11 03:27 PM
  • DoofDoof Madness was my first stop but did not see anyone called Cathal in the associated band members or musicians on RYM, hmmm....
    February 11 03:26 PM
  • DoofDoof Any Cathal clue on genre?
    February 11 02:54 PM
  • DoofDoof What sort of drugs would Klopp need to be on to sign up for Spurs...because I am sure I can find them.
    February 11 11:13 AM
  • DoofDoof I wanted to keep faith in him but player power is huge now, another sign the game is dying, and those players werent running through walls for this bloke! I said it before - you get Frank, you buy quick and tough Mbeumo, Wissa and Semenyo. Instead we bought some more wafty fancy dan typical spurs types, Solanke goes under the knife and he was toast.
    February 11 10:53 AM
  • DoofDoof Wedding first dance material.
    February 10 08:37 PM
  • DoofDoof Your Arsenal is a strange one...Morrissey with totally conventional backing, couple of great ones, might grow on me but for now I am uh, nonplused
    February 10 08:29 PM
  • DoofDoof We always up it second half. Like Doofy always ups his ratings second spin ;)
    February 10 08:21 PM
  • Valzentia This is gonna be a strange question but Snide wanted me to ask you if he can use one of your old forum posts that stuck with him for a lyrical segment in one of his songs. The one in question being "Who needs sensual, organic, 'real' love. Doesn't mean a thing in this day and age. Don't interact with anyone. Don't know how to. Upload and unload for eternity". He'll give you writing credits and what not if you agree but he totally gets it if you say no
    February 9 12:16 AM
  • DoofDoof Yeah, solid DJ set, gets a little samey over the full runtime but great one to dip into
    February 8 05:19 PM
  • DoofDoof I am really not feeling writing reviews right now but loving posting a few lists, get a bit of chat going and all that. I just wondered if I could name a top 1000 most influential bands on my life and once I had the idea I just had to do it lol
    February 4 08:45 PM
  • DoofDoof I must have presumed you had checked it last year - or maybe dismissed as sacrilege/twaddle! Like I said, soundtracked my holiday along with the live Royksopp album, suited the surrounds.
    February 4 08:15 PM
  • gabba Thanks Zak!
    January 13 10:27 PM
  • Titan It?s an incredibly crafted song, I love it
    January 13 09:19 PM
  • mandan rock and roll trending while I was growing up. Creed too.
    January 12 06:51 PM
  • mandan Finishing Ten atm and it still rules. I was a baby at the time, so I didn't really live through grunge. I'd say the RHCP and Bon Jovi comebacks, Nickelback, Limp Bizkit and QotSA was some of the rock
    January 12 06:49 PM
  • mandan I've never been a big Nirvana fan, but have to admit Nevermind hits in the right mood. Maybe the world needed it in 1991. I might prefer the first half to the 2nd.
    January 11 11:18 PM
  • DoofDoof Yeah, 4 points from guaranteed safety :D We get to push West Ham closer to the drop next week too, thats about the most fun we get this year
    January 11 08:30 AM
  • DoofDoof This season could be over in a months time.
    January 10 07:49 PM
  • DoofDoof The club and T Frank are crying out for something inspirational and a performance against Villa could be the moment. The owners saying they like the Levy wage structure model so the cavalry wont be coming in January I guess - maybe the Hamner mid Pacqeta? Maybe the flashy pants winger from City? Not too optimistic but Frank deserves another summer window I would say
    January 7 11:53 AM
  • DoofDoof Watched the footy on TV last night and just put on this Bowie playlist on random rather than bother with the commentary and I was surprised which songs I had missed the most and which snagged me. West Ham losing late on was the cherry on top really.
    January 7 11:35 AM
  • DoofDoof Diamond Dogs I much prefer Side A to Side B?but Side B has grown on me a bit over the years. Still placing DD ahead of Heroes and The Next Day
    January 7 11:33 AM
  • DoofDoof Bumped three more Bowie albums to a 5 but my picks might raise eyebrows...Blackstar...Aladdin Sane....and Outside! Hunky Dory stays on a 4.5 and I bumped Scary Monsters up to a 4.5 too, Lodger stays a 4 and Diamond Dogs gets a bump to a 4. Thoughts? :D
    January 7 10:25 AM
  • DoofDoof Spurs the nightmare I cant wake up from...I feel like asking for Dyche is like asking for Big Sam. Aka an admission you are a bottom half side for the foreseeable, which we might jus be. Painful. Vicario has the look of the last days of Lloris, he is first out the door, not a PL keeper.
    December 14 09:53 PM
  • Hawks Doing alright bro. Getting my mental health in check and feeling better. Baby on the way so gotta getting myself in check before June for sure! Hope you're doing well also my brother!
    November 28 01:11 PM
  • Hawks I'm sorry that I don't like Tricky, but I do like you!!! ;]
    November 27 03:26 PM
  • RVAHC13 Thankful someone else feels the same way about Loveless as I do lol
    November 27 01:43 AM
  • DoofDoof Yeah, I think the album really gets going with Time is a Healer and from then on it settles into its atmosphere. Did you ever listen to the second Big Special album? Its good but maybe a little too much of an exact continuation of the previous one.
    November 16 01:38 PM
  • DoofDoof The Steve Gunn from last week is quality too, esp the opener...lot of good stuff released the last few weeks, been falling behind!
    November 11 04:33 PM
  • DoofDoof The Midlake wasnt at all bad...but that Insecure Men album is a winner
    November 11 10:37 AM
  • DoofDoof That goal made my day lol - always missing watching goals getting scored live due to the kid or whatever else interrupting but I was sat and transfixed that time :D
    November 4 10:42 PM
  • RVAHC13 Glad youre still around here. This place would surely get stale without you!
    October 30 05:14 PM
  • DoofDoof Impressive result because Leeds hadnt lost at home for over a year.
    October 4 11:09 PM
  • DoofDoof You called it! Simons 10 and Kudus on the right in all the big fixtures, need to not mess with that.
    October 4 11:08 PM
  • DoofDoof Mostly just to make it more complicated for Hawks
    October 2 07:07 AM
  • DoofDoof Vote for Cardiacs in the album of the month list !
    October 2 07:06 AM
  • DoofDoof Bit worried about Wolves...good record against us and 0 pts after six games is relegation pretty much, they will be desperate.
    September 20 05:34 PM
  • DoofDoof Simons needs to start in the middle, looked magic when he came on, another ten minutes of time I think we run out winners at Brighton. Work in progress.
    September 20 05:00 PM
  • DoofDoof West Ham are relegation haunted already...Jose could be parachuted in but I am not convinced he would take the risk with that squad.
    September 13 06:40 PM
  • DoofDoof We have a decent manager, the Ange strategy was madness. Decent bench now, and that is with Solanke and Kulu missing. Bergvall is one where at any moment he could reveal himself as our best player, only 19, might be a bit longer to wait but then nothing would surprise me. Simons will be class once he has had more than one training session with the rest of them!
    September 13 06:38 PM
  • DoofDoof Yeah, I dont expect much difference in the quality of the squad in the coming seasons after this change but Levy was really floundering that last window! Ange to Forest...be amazed if that combo works. Be hilarious having Ange as an opponent this season :D
    September 9 07:26 PM
  • DoofDoof Taking a bit of adjustment knowing Levy isnt pulling most of the strings at Spurs anymore.
    September 8 06:47 AM
  • DoofDoof Yeah, give the fella a chance - I think its more aimed at the owners and window though, has been a huge shambles, though Simons should be that old cliche...a player you would pay to watch.
    August 30 07:06 PM
  • DoofDoof Breathless are one of the best of that genre, lot more personality in the vocals - so often the vocals and vocal melodies are a non event in shoegaze. Quite excited about the new season, good lad Sonny for bowing out with grace today too. New era.
    August 2 08:05 AM
  • DoofDoof Nice goal by Sarr in the --Hong Kong NLD--...signs of life.
    August 1 08:49 AM
  • Tunaboy45 cricket has been amazing, men's tennis final was good but this test is something else
    July 27 05:21 PM
  • Tunaboy45 I don't mind it! Was visiting family this weekend so mainly between the Test and Wimbledon, enjoyed both. Great, especially after a few tins.
    July 13 08:35 PM
  • DoofDoof They rarely disappoint, that one got a bit buried at the time for me but should return.
    July 8 05:20 PM
  • BitterJalapenoJr ****ing amazing. I've seen resale tickets on Twickets for Murrayfield - £425 each and it's the misses' 40th the same week so I'm sorely tempted.
    July 5 10:14 AM
  • BitterJalapenoJr Enjoy tonight mate ?
    July 4 05:14 PM
  • DoofDoof Yeah, the Glastonbury antics arrived just when I had reached maximum sectarian UK politics fatigue. Absolute bollocks
    June 30 08:29 PM
  • DoofDoof The Freepalestinin Bob Vylan
    June 30 12:26 PM
  • DoofDoof Falmouth Electrics on the new Half Man Half Biscuit keeps creasing me up
    June 19 06:40 AM
  • DoofDoof Think there will be a massive uplift from Ange but he could really do with taking three of the best boys from Brentford across the city to speed up the process.
    June 14 02:01 PM
  • DoofDoof New Young Gods is quality, seem to be on a good late career run.
    June 13 01:48 PM
  • DoofDoof Thomas Frank - right man? I am quite hopeful about this one...probably misplaced :D
    June 13 01:47 PM
  • JohnnyoftheWell hmmm bet (fixed)
    June 10 12:01 PM
  • mryrtmrnfoxxxy zak! how've ya been dude? nice kim deal rating
    June 8 02:07 PM
  • DoofDoof Bit hard to get a grip on but I think I like it a fair amount. One of those bands I have listened to most albums but would struggle to recall anything from.
    June 1 06:18 AM
  • Futures that really does seem different, i might give that a shot. i should get out of my comfort zone a bit this year. and my morning jacket have some tunes, never dove in though. what album would you recommend to start with?
    May 30 07:52 PM
  • Futures happy you got to experience that! i'm hanging in there. anything really great from 2025 for you i should check out?
    May 30 07:36 PM
  • Futures hope you're well friend. chelsea and spurs champions of europe!
    May 30 07:21 PM
  • DoofDoof I should have dragged people down the pub but just watched with the family, my mum and dad came over! Out tonight so just knew there would be no interest. If I was down the pub watching it would have been really tense but it was still quality celebrating at home. A cup?what a strange season.
    May 22 05:26 AM
  • DoofDoof Super Ange
    May 21 10:26 PM
  • DoofDoof I think this game will tell us a lot - have we been saving ourselves for the cup or are we just a totally naff side? Check my top 100 contemporary folk artists list ;)
    May 1 06:40 AM
  • DoofDoof Shame it isnt streaming but think you might love this one, experimental folk gubbins: https://rustedrail.bandcamp.com/album/sings-the-passing
    April 29 11:54 AM
  • DoofDoof Under Conte and Jose honestly the managers were stronger than the players leading to problems, but there was an ambition....now there is a team there well ahead of what Ange is pushing. Its a shame but just how it is, he lost the dressing room at least three months ago.
    April 21 08:22 PM
  • DoofDoof Spurs have become a background watch...to preserve my sanity. Statistically the worst Spurs manager in living memory! Dont trust a single player out there, fair weather going through the motions, absolutely zero killer instinct out there.
    April 21 07:58 PM
  • DoofDoof Scotty back in the PL
    April 21 06:32 PM
  • DoofDoof That makes sense, a bit like my grudge against Amnesiac - been listening to a bit of Underworld the last few years but more isolated tunes, not whole albums. Two Months Off from that album is one of my most played in that time so probably elevating my opinion of it ;)
    April 21 12:27 PM
  • DoofDoof Wow, a 2.5 for Hundred days Off...!!
    April 21 09:35 AM
  • DoofDoof The new Real Lies album is quality and pushed me into 5ing an Underworld album...going to make Underworld my band of the month for May, would not be surprised if I 5 another one or at least 4.5 a load of their stuff. I used to think Beaucoup Fish and A Hundred Days Off were about as good as their main two.
    April 21 09:19 AM
  • BitterJalapenoJr I was blasting the first and second albums on Saturday night, so nostalgic. I hope you have the best time. I might try and pick up some on Twickets nearer the time if I can.
    April 14 12:05 PM
  • BitterJalapenoJr I'm an imbecile. Less than 12 weeks
    April 14 08:00 AM
  • BitterJalapenoJr Less than 7 weeks 'til Cardiff mate, you got the buzz yet?
    April 14 06:41 AM
  • DoofDoof You have to have a couple of bands you stick to your guns and are a bit irrational about ;)
    April 8 02:17 PM
  • DoofDoof The lyrics in the final third of Fletchers are absolutely brutal - this is THE reality of middle age album of the year, nothing could possibly top it in that particular field!
    April 5 12:33 PM
  • DoofDoof The War on Drugs fella, who also did the new Sam Fender, working with him on this one helps a lot this time. Its the best album Ive heard from him anyway, something about it.
    April 5 12:29 PM
  • DoofDoof Craig Finn first optimistic 5 of the year, lyrics masterclass
    April 5 08:41 AM
  • DoofDoof Have you tried the new Benefits album? It is the blokey version of Kae Tempest who I cant get on with but morbid curiosity made me stick with it. Could be a Zak 1 or a confused 3.5, dunno. Not sure what the Sleaford Mods think of him now, he is from middlesborough so has every right to offload I guess
    April 4 08:07 AM
  • DoofDoof Their best one with a bit more wallop is the 2.5 - this is lower than that.
    April 4 07:54 AM
  • DoofDoof Shedding the lad who would bumble about Billie Eilish and the rest you get to see what was left behind, and without his contemporary waffle and unique bs?you are left with some mild Widdly woo quasi prog and dry as a desert chamber stylings. God awful art project, need to see me after class.
    April 4 07:43 AM
  • DoofDoof Never should have been let out of art school that lot
    April 4 07:36 AM
  • DoofDoof Spurs, what a living nightmare. Poch will come back one day but not yet is my feeling on that one! Scott Parker could be good but never seen his name bandied around by the bookies, might need to haunt Levy?s dreams like Freddy Krueger to get that one to happen. Another Friday another good 2025 album at first pick?the Craig Finn, a concept album and all.
    April 4 06:59 AM
  • DoofDoof If you want one to match the weather this week then the new James Elkington is a stunner.
    April 1 11:53 AM
  • Titan ALWAYS. Killer tune with an even better backstory!
    March 24 12:31 AM
  • Titan Hells yes brother. I?ll be spending my time on their last 4. That?s where you?ll find me haha?
    March 24 12:04 AM
  • Titan Yes bro! I only heard the new one and enjoy it although I will most def have to be in the mood.
    March 23 10:07 AM
  • DoofDoof Sounds like a mash up of not the best Depeche Mode with not the best Marilyn Manson at times. Bit like Primal Scream I have them down as a bit of a fake band...together because they want to be in the music industry rather than really having a style of their own, authenticity or the touch of genius. This lot are a bit less annoying but even more anonymous than Primal Scream though.
    March 22 10:12 PM
  • DoofDoof New Wildhearts has a few tunes in it - Kunce into Maintain Radio Silence is a vintage pairing
    March 21 03:51 PM
  • DoofDoof Second tune on the new Doves with the other lad singing sounds so much like Mansun on Attack of the Grey Lantern?still v good though
    March 5 12:41 PM
  • DoofDoof Never been majorly into Trentmoller, did listen to Great Wide Yonder a fair bit in particular but def more my brothers taste back in the day, will return to that one though.
    March 4 09:36 PM
  • DoofDoof Doves are one of those unfortunate bands I got into mostly through my dad liking them! I only know Kingdom of Rust and the Best Of really well...played the debut about four times this week and that is a great one, surprised me. Think I officially prefer them to Elbow (and goes without saying better than Coldplay).
    March 4 08:15 PM
  • DoofDoof Rushed up a review, had to be done, AOTY so far for me
    February 23 05:11 PM
  • DoofDoof Will try and put a review up for it today, busy until late afternoon but its one of those that calls out to be reviewed.
    February 23 12:01 PM
  • DoofDoof He sounds like those other folk ****ers but this lad is off to war
    February 21 01:49 PM
  • DoofDoof I swear there are at least six absolute belters on there :D
    February 21 01:48 PM
  • DoofDoof New Jim Ghedi? Like a more full blooded Lankum meets King Creosote?
    February 21 01:33 PM
  • DoofDoof Not a bad shout. Any coach with a Plan B, who can react in real time, who prepares his team based on the opposition, who doesnt thrash his defenders to all have hamstring injuries... Yeah I think I am done with Ange :D
    February 7 09:18 AM
  • DoofDoof Ange rides again! No shot on target, useless
    February 7 07:44 AM
  • DoofDoof Fully behind the lads tonight! Can Richarlison finally not be an arse in a big game for Spurs?
    February 6 07:41 PM
  • Gyromania Yo Zak, how?s it goin?? Doof mentioned that you?d be a good person to ask for Dylan recs. I?m doing discog runs every year. Last year?s was Flaming Lips and Everything Everything, and this year I wanted to do Dylan and maybe someone else, not sure who yet tho. But yea, I know Dylan has A LOT of albums and I know not all of them are worth hearing. If I?m doing a discog run, which ones do I just outright avoid? Hard to go by Sputnik ratings because they?ve been way off the mark too often for me
    February 2 10:33 PM
  • DoofDoof theres one with an accordion thats about shooting people in the face - gives good foot tap
    January 31 09:16 PM
  • DoofDoof new Bonnie Prince Billy has some corkers on it, the Nashville backing is a bit OTT on the foot tappers but some of the more typical Oldham songs are among his best
    January 31 10:58 AM
  • DoofDoof theres something a little Robert Wyatt about them I find, bit more of a surreal quality than you first realise, I like them a lot anyway - they have some great older albums too
    January 31 10:57 AM
  • DoofDoof Ok The Smile and Bill Ryder-Jones came out last January - the Tunng is definitely up to that level.
    January 30 07:39 AM
  • DoofDoof The Tunng album has given me hope the quality of last year might continue?not sure anything this good was released last January.
    January 30 07:37 AM
  • DoofDoof Ange is bloody useless! Love it. Relegation battle will be a bit of a lark, esp if we hang on in there in the cups.
    January 26 03:54 PM
  • DoofDoof if last week was a big game then how big is this weekend?
    January 24 11:33 AM
  • DoofDoof 5 points from the last 27! Relegation form. Yeah, the Moyes boys, that is the classic 6 pointer now. Win of bust for Ange.
    January 16 10:28 AM
  • JohnnyoftheWell lol i guess the forums have been kind to them - but for my sins, i discovered them from a K-scope foldout that came with one of my porcupine tree discs
    January 13 09:52 PM
  • JohnnyoftheWell probs have a similar relationship to it that people who got to the Cure at the right age (i was late lol) have to Disintegration, and am well aware of how well one holds up to cold-eyed crit compared to the other... but have gradually accepted that it's part of my journey that stuck around for whatever reason. its grief other portentous subject matter aren't necessarily why, just captures a feeling of gravity amidst slivers of faltering, dying light in a way i've found v enduring floyd solos!
    January 13 09:36 PM
  • JohnnyoftheWell ayo nicely timed, i was going to throw up a revisiting/adding to 5s list in a couple of days. that one's a strange case though - i initially imprinted on it through pure mid-teen cope, but anathema were one of a handful of bands that got opening doors and tuning into different wavelengths (less angst, more gloom i guess). forever love it as a formative record but expected to have outgrown it ages ago, but there's something about the atmosphere on that one that has never let me down since
    January 13 09:33 PM
  • DoofDoof lol I suddenly got the joke, bloody hell I am slow at times - I suspected the fat dog might annoy you but I had to give it a go
    January 13 07:51 PM
  • DoofDoof Still a bit obsessed with the track I Am the King by Fat Dog - sounds like the country feels, yes there is a new king but ?
    January 11 10:56 AM
  • DoofDoof The Brigid Mae Power version of Cass McCombs Angel Blood makes her new covers album worth it
    January 10 09:07 AM
  • DoofDoof I am gonna be a star mum...youll live to see the day!...I am gonna be a star dad...long dead and far away
    January 4 03:44 PM
  • DoofDoof Great lyrics in that one - like HMHB with the right hump!
    January 4 03:37 PM
  • DoofDoof yeah 2025 will probably be sh'te for music but get the feeling it will be good for politics, sneaky feeling ;)
    January 2 10:57 AM
  • DoofDoof Happy new year mate, loving the Big Special rating - they really are like the best bits of Sleaford Mods, Arctic Monkeys and Half Man Half Biscuit smashed together.
    January 1 11:51 AM
  • tommygun So Merry bloody Xmas to you and yours, you're a cracking bloke and I hope you are happy!
    December 25 11:45 AM
  • tommygun Long time no chat me old mucker but I am pissed on Xmas night blasting tunes while the missus and kiddies are fast asleep
    December 25 11:44 AM
  • DoofDoof Give Drop Me Out and Gone Forever from the High Vis a go at full volume soon mate...they have something about them.
    December 24 12:27 PM
  • DoofDoof There is probably some bellendness in there?not as much on the High Vis or Fat Dog who are also on the list even, but a good year for laddish stuff.
    December 22 07:32 PM
  • DoofDoof That involves beating this lot...I hope so.
    December 22 06:02 PM
  • DoofDoof Ange is done, has no answers to any of it
    December 22 05:49 PM
  • DoofDoof The Saint Etienne is good but I keep expecting the Mercury Rev fella to start piping up about patterns at some point
    December 13 08:35 AM
  • DoofDoof Feels like I live in a world of managed decline?Spurs, where I work, the UK itself! The spurs blog I use the bloke absolutely detests Ange and loved Jose and Conte for I think the seriousness they brought to spurs as a proposition. Under those managers we expected top four, were hard done by if we missed top four. Under Ange its more dreaming we get Europe at all, the squad is in massive seemingly terminal decline, Ange happy signing kids. All points to a mid table side at best.
    December 9 07:04 AM
  • DoofDoof Yeah, when we drop to around 15th/16th Levy usually pulls the trigger. Since Ange has got taciturn and defensive in his relationship with the press and fans im not too bothered about him, dont warm to him much. The club should have backed one of Jose or Conte but at least we now realise we will never attract world class player or pay those fees so no point in such managers?so we are looking for a new Poch miracle man. It just isnt/wasnt Ange, like it also wasnt Nuno.
    December 9 06:59 AM
  • DoofDoof That was better than predicted, I had us down to get a 5-1 repeat of the Chelsea vs Saints shellacking. Bloke is out of his depth and because hes a stubborn proud sort he is hard to feel sympathy for at this stage. Levy is even more to blame though and should follow him out the door but wont.
    December 8 09:51 PM
  • DoofDoof Lose by three clear goals vs Chelsea I would hand him his P45, everything after the ten match opening run has been mid table at best. The cups are everything now, if he fluffs the cups he has nothing, he can only be a cup manager because this approach is never getting consistent league finishes.
    December 6 05:00 PM
  • DoofDoof You were right with Bournemouth too...this Ange fella, its not improving, treading water. I doubt Levy could hire anyone too impressive now though, think the whole reputation of the club is tarnished.
    December 6 08:25 AM
  • DoofDoof The Skee Mask album is even better though, need to revisit his older stuff which I also like but tracks like BB Care have this atmosphere to them. Top 20 album of the year...as is the new Fennesz. Think my second favourite to Endless Summer, has the warmth and mystery again, was always waiting for this release before putting up my end of year...I think it might be a top 10 for me.
    December 6 08:09 AM
  • DoofDoof I really rate it, the singers all do the material justice but importantly her writing still gives the whole the same spirit. Dunno, people get excited with trad folk in some guises and not others online - people went crazy over the Irish stuff last year but then will dismiss that album unfairly.
    December 6 08:06 AM
  • DoofDoof You said we would drop points vs Fulham...do you bet? ;D
    December 2 10:22 AM
  • DoofDoof Pep talking about theoretical punishments every interview, seem a bit defeatist right now, dont think they have the right energy to win the league - could be a changing of the guard at the top. We are all over the place but the thing I liked yesterday was the quality of the first three goals, each a peach.
    November 24 12:50 PM
  • DoofDoof You said we would struggle against Ipswich but City might be alright :D
    November 24 09:48 AM
  • DoofDoof The John Callahan one, Don't Worry He Won't Get Far on Foot - yeah I was interested in his album too at that time. I will be honest, I feel I have some knowledge and idea with music but film is just gut reaction and I have a lot of stuff that is guilty pleasure territory. I do not take my taste in film at all seriously lol
    November 13 08:30 PM
  • DoofDoof this is my cream of the crop so far: https://rateyourmusic.com/collection/Doofy/stag/2024/1
    November 13 08:00 PM
  • DoofDoof Just revisited Vanishing Point...I tell you what Long Life is a winner and a half. Definitely their best album I would say, couple of other decent ones on there.
    November 13 07:27 PM
  • DoofDoof You have to do an extensive year end list then, no excuse, that is some praise! Think this might be a top ten year for music since years I have been really into it (so since 1991 sort of time). I would still put 1991, 1992, 1993, 1994, 1995, 1997 and 1998 above it but this just might be the holy grail...the best year since the 90s.
    November 13 07:04 PM
  • DoofDoof Saw Amyl at Brixton supporting the last album and that was decent, I think I saw them between Prodigy a month before and Turnstile a few weeks after or something like that and they werent on either of those levels but they impressed me. New album is a grower and I dont think people have time for that with the expectations you have with a rock band with a punk edge, you just expect immediacy. I like it a lot, this year top 40 which sounds harsh but it has been a really strong year.
    November 13 06:36 PM
  • DoofDoof I really wanted to but my mate whod usually be up for any rock band doesnt rate them and hes going to see Amyl that night - was sorting this a week before holiday, so tried to get Amyl tickets but hit a dead end and just ****ed it off. Parenthood has been a s***ter for going to too many gigs, the kid goes to school next year so things might get better on that front. Always wanted to see Therapy at a proper gig, only ever watched them at Download and that wasnt a good one.
    November 13 06:22 PM
  • DoofDoof Listening to the Primal Scream again, definitely the left wing blowhard release of the year ! Lyrics cribbed from student toilets? I cringe with this album - white guilt the musical.
    November 13 02:01 PM
  • DoofDoof Fake band through every reinvention, terrible vocalist, the lyrics on this one are very preachy...I like the occasional song. Usually I dont look at a band and think they are at work and doing a job to make money but Primal Scream I cant think of in any other way.
    November 12 02:34 PM
  • Futures man my life ain't in a good place now. and the thing about this cancer is it just keeps coming back until one day they can't do anything. still i am lucky to still be here. and you're right man, it just gets to me. you're a good man zak, love ya.
    November 7 07:49 PM
  • Futures no prob at all man, i consider you a friend. long story short 2015 at 20 diagnosed with thymic carcinoma a super rare cancer like 100 people get a year. chemo/radiation/massive open chest surgery, 2017 small reoccurance, 2019 reoccurance started immunotherapy basically a preventative treatment, last year reoccurance did special proton radiation/chemo at mayo clinic where i lived in another state for 6 weeks. all clear now, still on immunotherapy. 29 now. been a long road man.
    November 7 07:28 PM
  • Futures oh yeah man. been a while. almost 10 years now. been lucky so far, hope it doesn't run out. people here have free reign to mock it though and hope i die from it!
    November 7 07:14 PM
  • DoofDoof Ladys Bridge I enjoy a lot, I would put it behind the other two but that tune and the title track are outstanding plus I respect the more upbeat tracks, might be his most varied.
    November 5 07:55 PM
  • DoofDoof How do you rate, rank and compare those three Hawley albums - Lowedges, Coles Corner and Ladys Bridge?
    November 5 07:24 PM
  • DoofDoof The latest one is good, has a few absolute winners but then some stuff that is more what you would have expected from a late Lanegan album - decent but also a bit standard. Crazily good year for music though, the stuff that doesnt make my top 10 is unbelievable...best Tindersticks album since 2003, first The The album since 2000, etc!
    November 5 07:23 PM
  • DoofDoof The Hawley ratings are going up...three 4.5 scores covering the run from Lowedges to Ladys Bridge. The classic tunes are starting to reveal themselves now...
    November 5 04:42 PM
  • DoofDoof Ange absolutely does my head in, the reluctance to focus on set plays and the late triple subs...but when we hit form it is a joy to watch the attacking play
    November 3 04:07 PM
  • DoofDoof That was a great one yeah, the second goal was my favourite on the season so far, Big Bad Dom needs a bit of confidence. Need some consistency but have Ipswich and Fulham at home coming up, could go on a bit of a run, City away might even be a good time to play them - they look a bit 'the last days of Rome' now, Pep half way out the door
    November 3 04:06 PM
  • DoofDoof One thing I will say is: dont think it quite has enough to actually top Disintegration
    November 2 03:47 PM
  • DoofDoof I had a feeling it was going to be a special one, everything in the lead up, the lead singles, the interviews, the art, the album title...it is the first album in a while where I rated every single song 4.5 out of 5 on my second spin! It is as close to flawless a new album as I have heard in a long while. Just needs the emotional bond to grow now really and it will be my album of the year.
    November 2 03:42 PM
  • DoofDoof You know I watched them play an acoustic set in Kingston recently? Bit of a laugh. Gave the new one a go as someone here said it is the best thing they have done in two decades or something like that, and this year has been a great year for comebacks...this was not one of them. Vocals are almost as processed as Do You Believe Cher
    October 12 05:00 PM
  • Voivod To be brutally honest, this was totally unexpected, and I was stunned by the idleness of the English defensive players in both goals.
    October 11 08:35 AM
  • Voivod Here's to a speedy recovery mate B-P http://www.theguardian.com/football/live/2024/oct/10/england-v-greece-nations-league-live
    October 10 09:02 PM
  • BitterJalapenoJr You reccommend that album to me before along with a few others but the only one I got around to was Sunhouse. I still have them jotted down somewhere on the laptop so will get around to them all soon and report back. Cheers mate.
    September 29 09:08 PM
  • DoofDoof it took at least ten plays, maybe fifteen, but I rate all that album now - just really good for that type of album...I guess it partly killed the band not hitting paydirt but I wont hold that against it. His vocals on stuff like Superslomotion still bring the magic
    September 29 08:41 PM
  • DoofDoof Jubilee the fourth album not Mighty Joe Moon - its a lot more glossy and radio sheen but it still works, I dont mind a bit of an arena sell out if its well done.
    September 29 08:15 PM
  • DoofDoof I will tell you another album that has slowly grown on me, it isnt a 5 but it might end up a 4.5 and my second favourite by the band...it is a total sell out, an arena alt rock album through and through, and it didnt make them a big band. Jubilee by Grant Lee Buffalo - it is one I totally underestimated at first.
    September 29 07:28 PM
  • DoofDoof I will make Hawley my legacy band to check of the month for October - prob only checked that album five or six times, see if it has put any more hooks in.
    September 29 07:26 PM
  • BitterJalapenoJr Perfect mate - Screaming Trees it is.
    September 29 07:17 PM
  • BitterJalapenoJr How's it going Zak? I need your help mate. Can you give me a top-drawer Zak rec of a discog for my list with a max of 8 albums? I will boot off something I'm not feeling.
    September 29 06:01 PM
  • DoofDoof I am cheating but you only have one on a 5 ;) That is a bit of a cheat guess there, without the clue I would never have got there! I do love that album though, currently a 4 but will return to it.
    September 29 05:37 PM
  • DoofDoof Big bad Dom gets a third, happy days this! Now Ten Hag gets the shove and in comes Southgate and all is right with the world
    September 29 05:20 PM
  • DoofDoof That narrows it down a lot but still, real tricky...a real out there pick but the Richard Hawley?
    September 29 05:18 PM
  • DoofDoof you are loving the Peter Gabriel? otherwise...surely not Oasis?
    September 29 04:47 PM
  • DoofDoof Great first half yeah, United squad still a bloated mess it seems - Werner is really poor player who just happens to play at x2 speed, still wish him well but is it ever going to click for the bloke?
    September 29 04:32 PM
  • DoofDoof Hoping the game is a hangover cure today?Spurs usually show too much respect to United at Old Trafford though
    September 29 08:56 AM
  • DoofDoof At first I wasnt impressed at all but slowly coming round to it - similar level (and sometimes sound) to the debut maybe. It is worth a go but be prepared to bin half the songs ;)
    September 26 03:46 PM
  • DoofDoof good ol terrorvision
    September 26 12:07 PM
  • DoofDoof People saying its almost like a second Simple Pleasure and thats about right, just a steady listen the whole way through leaning more on the soul side of their sound - they can do no wrong !
    September 19 08:54 PM
  • DoofDoof Thinking the new Tindersticks is probably their best since 2003, very consistent.
    September 16 06:32 AM
  • DoofDoof VdV is only on 50k a week! They need to march that man into Levys office and get those golden handcuffs attached...
    September 15 09:31 PM
  • DoofDoof Arsenal were without their midfield and played tight but generally bang average, there for the taking today as were Newcastle last time - defend, go on the break, win set plays, score, then defend again! Thats the recipe to beat us right now, powderpuff typical Spurs really, not sure of all the last five or so managers weve had that this is the bloke to back for five seasons.
