Weezer - Make believe
If you listen to me, I say Weezer was influenced by the pop-music people are playing now. This album is not a classic, but I think it recieves way too much slack from people who just hate weezer. They generalize the CD on one or two songs, probally being "beverly hills" which is just a horrible song. Some people are like that, some people arent.... read my review and check out thier music to decide for yourself.
Tracks -
01. Beverly Hills - The worst song on the CD, for sure. The song is just too happy and too repetive to be a single... which I have no idea why it was released as a single, but it was, and people for some reason love it... song rating - 1/5
02. Perfect Situation - Very nice song, starting with a nice guitar riff and then nice vocals.Listening to the lyrics really makes me feel bad for rivers =[. Oh well, great song indeed. song rating - 4.5/5
03. This Is Such A Pity - Possibly one of the most underrated songs on this CD. I really like the beginning, with the keyboard and River's sharp vocals. Once again, a depressing, but good song. song rating -4.5/5
04. Hold Me - Another strong song. Once again, river's vocals are strong and supported nicely with the drums in the backround and his guitar. As the pattern repeats, its another depressing, but good song. song rating -4.5/5
05. Peace - Such a catchy tune, you'll be singing it for days. This song describes how Rivers really needs to be away from everything for awhile, hence the name "peace". Very nice guitar and drums going on in the backround and rivers voice is as good as it ever was. song rating -5/5
06. We Are All On Drugs - Where the CD starts a slow slope downward. Its wierd how they put down all of the drug users by saying things like "no one really cares if your really even there", but then they say "give me some of that stuff" shortly afterwards. I dunno..... Just not one of the better songs... song rating -3/5
07. The Damage In Your Heart - Once again, a song about how rivers loses a loved one, most likley his girlfriend. Seriousley, you have to start to feel sorry for the guy after how many songs are made about troubling times. The guitars back up river's vocals nicley. He pulls of some higher notes (for him) nicley, that he wouldnt be able to do in most songs. song rating -4/5
08. Pardon Me - Starts as a solo guitar, slowly comming in with the drums. I really dont like the beat or the lyrics to this song... Probally just too pop-ish for my taste... song rating -2.5/5
09. My Best Friend - Blah.... thats about all I have for this song. Its ok until the "your my bestttttt friendddddd" part... that gets old, quick. song rating -2/5
10. The Other Way - Where the CD starts to get good again. Rivers seems really nervous about doing things with people, often times how I feel with some people... I love the song until near the middle where the guitars take over. But that lasts what, 10 seconds? Then it goes back to rivers singing and it being a good song. song rating- 4.5/5
11. Freak Me Out - Very nice intro with some hardly noticable guitars and drums. Rivers vocals are deffinatley the standout in this song. The song is great up until near the end, where rivers gets a tad louder and the harmonica takes over. Dont get me wrong, its not horrible, but I was never a giant fan of the harmonica.... Dosnt really change the rating though. The guitars finish out the song very nicley. song rating - 4.5/5
12. Haunt You Every Day - Very nice intro, with a mix of the keyboard and guitar. Once again, like in most songs, River's vocals standout in this. Slowly, the drums are added, then all of the sudden the guitars come in pounding along with the vocals. Very nice addition to the CD, and a very nice way to end. song rating - 4.5/5
