Review Summary: kimm thrash with a twist
Tourniquet were a thrash band with a difference, they believed and they werent afraid to show it. These dudes set out to prove one thing, christians can thrash too! Their first record Stop the Bleeding was a sweet one, as i shall tell your ass in the wordz below. Right out of the gate the opener The Test for Leprosy doesnt hold back, straight away we are greeted by trems of steel and balls of pork. Vocally the dude is out of his bean, like i bet the dude was the crazy guy at church everyone laughed at but they never knew of his true talent, to spread the word of the lord with flaming falsettos and anal screeches. His vocals are diverse and are one of the main aspects of the bands greatness. The second track Ready or Not is flat out ***ing awesome, the main riff is enough to set your ass off into waltz mode, but then the vocals enter and the song rises to a new level, of confidence and power. Lyrically the album is mostly about pussy stuff like god and human rights, Ark of Suffering deals with animal abuse and all that gay left wing bull***, nah just kidding i'm not hans but its not the type of subject you'd expect in a thrash song. The riffs are very melodious, but not in a queer way, as that is against their beliefs. There are enough catchy riffs and harmonizing leads to last you till the second coming of christ. The production is surprisingly great for a thrash album of this era, Every instrument is audible although the bass is a little buried in the mix. Swarming Spirits contains some of the best riffs in the genre, the intro riff will forever be stuck in my noggin till the day i croak, although one riff sounds like a rip off of the bridge section of Welcome Home (Sanitarium).
The only real downside to this album is its not as good as Psycho Surgery, but not that matters much because this rules hard as *** regardless. Even with gay song titles like You Get What You Pray For you've just got to love this ***. The vocals are amazing the riffs are ahead of their time and the drums flat out rock my dick. So Tourniquet were a christian thrash band with a twist, and the twist is that they didnt suck. *** this rules, holy *** it just rules really hard, wow! check it!1
