JohnnyoftheWell
the dubstep genre has become somewhat generic, leading to the mind numbing homogenisation of the subgenre for the past decade. It seemed like dubstep was losing its edge. Then came Vylet Pony.

(be)rate my LP 'collection'

This is a short list ha ha. Finally got my own turntable for Christmas - spent years occasionally buying vinyl at gigs/for collection purposes, but have mainly been a CD boi until now. CD is still useful, but since listening to physical media is more of an occasion now and my CD collection is so swamped out with multiple generations of my own taste as is (not to mention about 70% in storage), figure it's time to turn over a new leaf and purchase occasionally but meaningfully? Will also have to invest in a decent soundsystem at some point etcetc yes, but lfg!

KILLING JOKE

I currently own and have on hand a whopping total of 5 LPs. They are, uh, here in order of acquisition:
2Ichiko Aoba
Adan no Kaze

Signed, picked up from merch table along with a gorgeous limited-edition photo book
3Dream Dolphin
Gaia: Selected Ambient & Downtempo Works (1996-2023)

Music from Memory compilation issued earlier this year
4Boris
Heavy Rocks

Only pressing ever made of this badboi, somehow nabbed it mint for £16 in-store
5The Field
The Follower

Used 2xLP, with tracklisting

A1 The Follower
A2 Pink Sun
B1 Monte Verità
B2 Soft Streams
C Raise The Dead
D Reflecting Lights

cannot wait to spin those last two sides to oblivion
6John Coltrane
Giant Steps

Blue vinyl, new; 2017 DOL pressing

KILLING JOKE

Following LPs are all either in storage since my family home went up for sale or got swiped by my kid brother. Will track em down eventually but probably won't have them to hand for a year or so.

Coming home after a month of travels to find this in the mailbox fresh on release was a delight and an earthshaker. Think I sat down with a bottle of something and no notepaper/laptop/mobile/whatever and just let it happen for an hour - feels like an entirely different time now. Wonderful first impression at any rate, just about lived up to the mammoth hypewave even if it's fallen down a rung or two since (great record still, but never their masterpiece)
9Haru Nemuri
Haru to Shura

Cheapo European pressing uh it works!
10Hop Along
Get Disowned

FUN gig! Frances Quinlan was running the merch table for a while and they are tiny!
11Melt-Banana
Teeny Shiny

Not sure why I bought this one specifically - grabbed this after a baller gig that I stupidly attended without earplugs, and my headspace was every increment of fucked. Caught up with them afterwards (lovely people!) but not sure if I got it signed.
12My Bloody Valentine
m b v
13The Dillinger Escape Plan
Option Paralysis

Bought from Pots, lovely ltd edition clear (iirc!) vinyl that sticks them needles in your ears like no-one's business
14KILLING JOKE

Records I am going to go out of my way to snag at some point vaguely soonish
