01.26.09 | 41 and 46 are just phenomenally atrocious. 41 is annoying to the extreme and i think 46 annoys me so much because if I wrote 'if i were a girl' i'd be branded a sexist for like, ever. Also your #1 is equally irritating. Hot N Cold, Coldplay, Kanye, AAR, Mraz get thumbs up though. | BallsToTheWall

01.26.09 | Both "Shadow of the Day" and "Piece of Me" were released as singles in 2007. "Whatever You Like" is one of the better pop songs released this year; its exclusion along with "Swagger Like Us"'s inclusion is criminal.
"American Boy" and "Viva La Vida" should be higher; "I Kissed a Girl" should be lower, and if I had my way, "Shut Up and Let Me Go" would have never, ever been recorded in the first place.
I'm actually slightly surprised that "Bad Girlfriend" or "Something In Your Mouth" didn't make it on the list. They'd've fit right in here...
ALL THAT BEING SAID...you have a good grasp on 2008's pop music, and this list does a really good job reminding me why I don't listen to the radio anymore. My hatred of most of this list stems from my hatred of most pop music today. | DaveyBoy
01.27.09 | I agree with Masochist that 'Viva La Vida' & 'American Boy' should be Top 10. As should have 'Bleeding Love'.
Meanwhile, 'Shake It' should have been #8,379. | Hyperbore
01.27.09 | Check out My Brightest Diamond's "A Thousand Shark's Teeth" for a 2008 pop album done right. | NewYorkZoo
01.28.09 | several things.
these are MY. POP. 50. soooo yeah. you don't like it, make your own. had to make it for my college newspaper so i thought i'd post it here too.
though viva la vida and bleeding love were both wicked close to top 10, i had to make room for songs that i thought were personally awesome this year. i think that over the years as they go by, songs like those will be remembered and honored far more than other songs in the top 10 ("a milli", "a-punk", even "swagger") but for right now, this is just their impact on the year as it is, and the songs higher up i think had bigger impact for right now, in 2008.
lastly, i've been on this site for a while now, you can look at genre styles, see my reviews & lists, you know the kind of music that i'm into. if it's not your style, i get it. regardless of whether or not you think it's worthy to be discussed, its a pretty free country. and all the hateage gets kinda old, really. but thanks, i guess. love sputnik! |
