ANALYSIS: Ya know, for being less than 10 minutes long, this thing really packs a punch and is fucking drenched in a melancholic haze. You can hear it oozing through your headphones. Its like getting jumped by 10 people and being so disoriented you have no clue where you are. Wish this was longer though.

demo 3

Rec'd by pyroflare77

ANALYSIS: This is like part lo-fi filthy skramz and part warm and fuzzy gazey post-rock. The balance between the two is impeccable tbh but it can drag a bit at times. Really the whole vibe of this demo is upbeat but wrapped in a reverb soaked fog.

As We Suffer From Memory and Imagination

Rec'd by FearThyEvil

ANALYSIS: What a fucking short and sweet RIPPER this is. Barely 20 minutes long but its such a clusterfuck of extremely chaotic and melodic emoviolence that it feels like you just got rocked in your jaw. Also the vox here are some of the best I've ever heard regardless of genre.

RATING: 4.5

ANALYSIS: Did Envy learn Swedish and decide to release an album?? Thats the vibe I'm getting. Raw yet bright sounding and gut wrenching post-rock(ish) skramz is always fun. Gotta say though the production here is terrible and really holds this back. Could've been massive but its way too...idk quiet? The music itself is great but yeah production knocks it down ahrd for me.

ANALYSIS: Sorry bros, this album just tore me the fuck apart. Extremely raw and unhinged skramz/post hardcore from the early 90's. Its dirty, its emotionally taxing, its lo-fi....its everything that makes skramz great. If y'all have more stuff like this from the same time period, send them my way! The vox here are very manic and may put some off but they fit the sound to a fucking tee. This is so amazing.

ANALYSIS: This thing thrashes so fucking ahrd boys. So many great groovy riffs with some well timed breakdowns, a few killer solos and some raw throaty vox. The early/mid 2000s thrashy metalcore sound a la Shadows Fall is very present here and the production is massive. Lots of fun for such a short album (about 26 minutes). This is a definite winner.

Behind the Veil of Innocence

Rec'd by frozencarl

ANALYSIS: Pretty unique and crazy mashup of 90s sounding chaotic metalcore and extremely raw melodic black metal. Its definitely an interesting combo but these guys do a really good job of intertwining the two. My main gripe here is that the production is super muddy and not in a good way. Becomes insanely grating after a while but the music itself is damn good and full of catchy riffs.

Fire As A Metaphor 12"

Rec'd by somnolence

ANALYSIS: Ok the first half of this is suuuuper boring and kinda cringe but it picks up after that with some nice melodic punky riffs. The vox here are really bad to the point of being unlistenable though imo. Its like this guy is trying too hard to sound emotional and he ends up just sounding really ridiculous lmao. Can never see myself returning to this.

ANALYSIS: Man this is some NASTY stuff right here. On one hand you have some pummeling mathy melodic hardcore and on the other hand you have tons of filthy and drawn out progressive sludge sections. Quite the blend of genres and it works to absolute perfection. The atmosphere is that of being submerged in tar.

Discography

ANALYSIS: Damn bros you can literally feel the melancholy dripping from this short but very sweet compilation. This really leans heavily into the emoviolence sound. The riffs here are absolutely unhinged as are the maniacal vox that range from throat shredding shrieks to emotional spoken word passages. Really love the melodies that are incorporated into the riffs here as well. This is really amazing stuff.
