09.07.21 | I find I like the vibe from side a where it sounds good but as a whole songs I feel underwhelmed at the end. It's still deftones so it's still good but I think the excitement is just fleeting for me. Like the synths and vocals on error are incredible but they're don't really build off them in a way I find satisfying. The bridge in it is also one of their best. The post chorus in ceremony is great. The intro to genesis is amazing. The production is unmistakable and it feels more like a follow up to their self titled than snw cuz its Terry Date obv. 09.07.21 | Relinquished, ATF has great songs but it doesn't flow as well as WP, SNW, or KNY for me. Then again, just opinion. It's nowhere near Gore or Adrenaline for me though. Those are far worse.
Code, it's funny because Ohms has been a weird record for me in different ways. I jumped on the hype and had it at a 5 at release, then dropped it to a 4 because it wasn't hitting as hard. Now, I am vibing with it far more because I am just letting it be what it is. Might bump back to a 4.5. DE is the record that I tend to disagree with a lot of other Sput users. Some of my most liked albums I disliked initially like SNW and KNY so ohms might be one of those growers for me. Each of those middle albums are good for 3-5 classic Deftones songs, limited filler, and only differ slightly in mood and pacing.
