garas: My 2023

I had a hectic year and I did not follow the new releases that closely as I hoped for, but it is as it is. Here is my yearly top10 + my most listened favourites from 2023. Please subscribe for more.
1Dodheimsgard
Black Medium Current

ALBUM OF THE YEAR.
To be honest, I knew this will be my #1... and I felt no other album can outshine this. This could be the album of the decade even! Amazing record, and I'm proud of my review too. 5.0
2Urfaust
Untergang

I've listened to this a lot when it came out, and I still feel I could be that tired devil on the cover. This record resonates with my soul. Farewell, Urfaust! 4.5
3Moonlight Sorcery
Horned Lord of the Thorned Castle

This will be the epitome of 'power / black metal'. Insanely good and fun record. 4.5
4Blut Aus Nord
Disharmonium – Nahab

The Blut Aus Nord discog-run was one of the best adventures I had in this year, and this record surpassed my expectations. I'm addicted to this nightmarish vibe. 4.5
5Thy Catafalque
Alföld

This record is a bit more personal, since I'm also from that region of Hungary which is described in the lyrics here. Also, I think it's one of the best Thy Catafalque records (probably #2 right after Geometria, I think). 4.5
6Orsartag
Found Wisdom: Symphonic Tribute To Burzum

If you know me, then it's no surprise why did I love this album so much. Burzum and neo-classical? Love at first sight. 4.5
7Hellripper
Warlocks Grim and Withered Hags

Black'n'roll was never so good before. This album kicks ass! 4.5
8Midnight Odyssey
Biolume Part 3 - A Fullmoon Madness

This is the correct way to write an incredibly long atmoblack album. The variety and the ideas within elevated this album to the "superb" category. 4.5
9DVVAD
MRKLB

It's such a grower! In the end, I couldn't miss out this from my top10. This kind of post-black is the best, mark my words! 4.0
10Enforcer
Nostalgia

I totally did not see this one coming, but I really like this nostalgic (pure '80s) heavy / speed metal formula, especially if it's done so well! Very-very catchy album, and this was my good companion during workouts. 4.0
11Darkthrone
Ravishing Grimness

THE NOT-FROM-2023 AOTY.
I've listened to this record A LOT! Also, "The Claws Of Time" and "Across the Vacuum" were my most listened songs in the entire year. I just can't have enough!
12Morrigan
Headcult

BEST DISCOVERY.
The Morrigan discography was the best thing I've found in the entire year. Morrigan carries the legacy of Bathory, and especially this album is one of the trvest viking metal albums, ever.
13The Devil's Trade
Vidékek Vannak Idebenn

SONG OF THE YEAR.
The title track, "Vidékek Vannak Idebenn" was my biggest mood this year, since this song was the one I simply couldn't break out from a replay-loop. Hungarian neo-folk meets soft post-metal: this is cathartic.
14Darkthrone
Unholy Black Metal

BEST COMPILATION (MERCH).
Finally I own The Unholy Trinity + Panzerfaust + the Winds Of 666 Black Hearts albums on cassette tape.
