02.06.26 | seahawks by double digits. drake maye's horseshoe up his ass finally falls out. you can only play like shit so many times in high stakes games and the seahawks defense doesn't allow much room for error. seahawks will get out to an early lead and control it start to finish. i don't see them losing unless darnold melts down and throws 3 or more picks. when finally facing some not all time bad QB play, the patriots will look like a team that lucked to this game because that is what happened.

02.06.26 | feeling like a low scoring game. thinking both defenses show up and control the game and neither qb plays all that great. lots of punts. seattle has the stronger team and i think eventually takes a comfortable lead.
feeling something like 20-10 seahawks. jsn makes some insane catches and wins mvp. |

02.06.26 | Patriots are going to get embarrassed honestly. The difference between AFC and NFC this year will be crystal clear. Seahawks 35-17 |

02.06.26 | I think there's gonna be some big throws, big runs, and lots of tackling. And if we're lucky, some guy will kick the tar out of the ball. |
AlkemestRedux
02.06.26 | It's kinda crazy we made it to the Superbowl this year with a misfits team and a new QB. Was not expecting that. I'm a bandwagon Seahawks fan (but love the Mariners) so didn't pay much attention until the last few games. But now that I'm here, Go Seahawks aaaay |
Futures
02.06.26 | patriots defense is good but has gotten legendary pub from playing generational choker herbert with no o line, stroud playing one of the worst games i have seen from any qb ever (he did that the week before as well) and goddamn jarrett stidham. |

Futures
02.06.26 | well stroud ain’t that guy and they gotta pay him now lol. that was the one shot. |
JoyfulPlatypus
02.06.26 | Genuinely think Houston would've had a better chance at winning if they benched Stroud at halftime and put in Davis Mills. |
Josh D.
02.06.26 | Yeah, I'm worried they're going to pay him so they don't lose him and pray he "continues to develop". You would think no way they'd gamble, but I've been a Texans fan their whole existence. I expect pain. |
JoyfulPlatypus
02.06.26 | I'm willing to eat my words and admit I bought into him fully after his rookie year. Thought he'd be in the same category as Allen/Burrow/Mahomes by now. Then I thought after last year "oh well his support was trash and/or injured." No way to excuse him shitting the bed this year though. |
Josh D.
02.06.26 | A lot of those turnovers in his last few games were inexcusable. I hope they cut him loose and he can thrive under another system, but my assumption is management will say "he's our best option" |
JoyfulPlatypus
02.06.26 | At the same time, are there any other better options out there? They're not going to have a high enough draft pick to get a top QB (not that there are many available) and I can't think of any upcoming free agents that I would get excited about. |
Futures
02.06.26 | not benching him for mills was purely optics. it's an admission that he's not the guy, can't come back from that. not that mills is good but he wouldn't have launched 50 turnovers.
some guys you can just tell aren't franchise material. this seems closer to a tua/kyler situation. he isn't a leader and is always moping on the sidelines. whenever he faces adversity he crumbles. that mixed with his high thoughts of himself during his offseason tours are major red flags. |
JoyfulPlatypus
02.06.26 | oh god I remember when, after his rookie year, he ranked himself as the 3rd best QB in the NFL. |
Josh D.
02.06.26 | Agree with both of you. Really bad spot. I've come to terms that he'll be there, it's just a matter of what the commitment will mean long term.
If the Pats win, I will not be pleased for a few hours and then move on with my life. Baseball season is nigh. |
Futures
02.06.26 | yeah it's a rough spot, he squandered a legit super bowl window. it's hard to offer a real solution though. the probable reality is it's over and you have to pay him and just hope he somehow regains his rookie year form. but i do see it being a tua situation. |
JoyfulPlatypus
02.06.26 | Who would've thought two years ago that at this point in time people would have more faith in Bryce Young than they do Stroud. |
Futures
02.06.26 | i will pump the breaks on the bryce young hype lol. he isn't a franchise guy either. without the falcons beating the saints, he had two brutal embarrassing losses in must win games to miss the playoffs. |
JoyfulPlatypus
02.06.26 | Lol fair enough - all I'm saying is that if you put a gun to my head and asked who I'd rather have as a QB, I'd probably pick Young. Whereas two years ago there isn't anyone on earth who would've thought that. |
Futures
02.06.26 | for sure. btw who's your team? |

Demon of the Fall
02.09.26 | yeah, that was one of the more disappointing Superbowls I can remember watching. One of the other top contenders also involved the Seabirds winning coincidentally, but at least that was kinda amusing if you get a perverse kick out of utter humiliation, regardless of who's dishing it out and who's on the end of it (and I do, lol)
Seabirds probably still prevail, but it might have been nice to see either the Bills or Broncos (with a healthy Nix) instead, for a potentially better game
and yeah I try my best to ignore the 'show' around the event, which is easier to do when you're in Europe and watching the next morning lol
ah well, see you all next year! |

02.09.26 | it took many years, and i wish it had been the brady/belichick patriots, but it feels good that we finally got the patriots back. this match up felt like destiny in a way. |
AlkemestRedux
02.09.26 | It did feel a bit like destiny. The stadium district, and presumably everywhere else with a bar, was exploding for a while last night.
And even though yesterday's game was pretty much preordained, the Seahawks vs Rams game was a real nailbiter. Felt like the real Superbowl game, so the actual Superbowl was a nice victory lap lol |
Demon of the Fall
02.09.26 | fair point, which begs the question: does anyone think there's no strong logical reasoning behind the whole AFC / NFC thing?
Divisions? Yep. But why bother with two separate conferences for the playoffs? You could still seed the shit out of it (however you wanted) but instead of it being say 7 on each side, it'd be out of 14 and anyone could play anyone. That way, even two teams from the same division could make the Superbowl.
There's probably something I'm not considering here. Likely my 'European sports brain' lol |
AlkemestRedux
02.09.26 | No I think that makes total sense Demon. I think it's probably just historical precedent and money that keeps them from being combined. Even in college football in the US there's a ton of broadcasting contracts and payouts that big TV companies fight tooth and nail over. But maybe there's actual reasons beyond that too that I just don't know about. |
Calc
02.09.26 | When the NFL and AFL merged that created the current conference system we have now. I bet they keep it around because that's the product that's currently taken over this country and they don't need to mess with it. It doesn't really matter that the 12 best teams don't get in, not even to most fans. It really only comes up when a 7-9 Seahawks team gets to the playoffs like they did a few years ago. |
Source
02.09.26 | i like the conference/division format because it helps foster rivalries, and rivalries are vital to my enjoyment of sports. that is why it's so satisfying that we defeated our division twice over to reach the super bowl. |
JoyfulPlatypus
02.09.26 | Better late than never to add these lol.

02.10.26 | "i like the conference/division format because it helps foster rivalries"
to be clear, I'm in favour of divisions for this very reason. And it makes sense that those teams always play each other twice a year in the regular season. Yeah, you end up with the odd weak division and teams 'sneaking' into the playoffs but those divisions won't remain 'static' for long. I guess you do have rivalries within conferences also, but they're a lot less common for obvious reasons. |

tbh i think it was a pretty great sicko super bowl even if not a very conventionally entertaining game. seattle's defense and special teams was pretty much flawless (maybe the greatest game a punter ever played by michael dickson). the few things that actually went the pats way on offense felt like herculean efforts. |

02.11.26 | @Asdfp - What country are you from? I think it's interesting to get the perspective from someone from outside the U.S given how chaotic and hostile the discourse around the halftime show has been.

Asdfp277
02.11.26 | i'm from latin america, and for the most part the only things i've heard people discuss about the superbowl was that they liked the bad bunny performance, that they were pleasantly surprised that lady gaga was there, and from 'older' people (30 and up), that trump is an yet another old ass politician complaining about new music (they're not aware of how far the we-hate-immigrants context has gone in the u.s., so they asume that's the reason the president's even commenting) (younger people are more aware, but are not surprised at trump or republicans).
a few of them, old and young, even watched the sports part to see what it was like. of the ones who didn't know what the superbowl was, i don't think most will retain the name, but some of them will, and will definitely be more in their radar next time around |
