Soul of a New Machine
That bass sound fits perfectly the soiled mood of this sludgy track
FREEDOM OR FIRE
A rebellion anthem marked by one of the most complex drumming by Herrera
INVISIBLE WOUNDS (DARK BODIES)
an ethereal power ballad with a great gloomy atmosphere
Groove industrial piece with effective clean verses and choruses
The song with most death metal influences from mechanize along with christploitation. Well written lyrics about manipulation through fear and even a brief guitar solo.
The most commercial song on this list, FF managed to create an accessible song with nu metal influences without taking away the traditional mood of the band.
ECHO OF MY SCREAM
The biggest flaw in transgression is without any doubt the lackluster production. Still it works perfectly with this dark ballad about anxiety, an underrated gem.
The first FF song with nu metal influences that introduces the listener to this concept's main character, pretty nice turntables solo.
Groovy riffs alternated with the techno-like drumming style of mr Herrera. The bass building during the bridge still gets me after all this years.
Energic, uplifting song with an awesome sing along chorus and great cyber atmosphere.
Obsolete's conclusion may be one of the most depressive moments in metal. A tragic ending in which the edgecrusher sacrifices himself in vain for human race.
Hoglan's drumming in the very beginning of the song alone made this pick worth reckoning
This grew on me with time. Anti religious apocalyptic lyrics and some of their heaviest riffs, the last 2 minutes are out of this world.
H-K (HUNTER KILLER)
Some of Dino's most headbangable riffs combined to Terminator inspired lyrics
Their best opener since Shock that perfectly prepare the listener to the following songs. Metallic snare sound, symphonic pieces and sadly some of the last vocals we'll hear by Burt.
I consider this bonus track part of the album, the experimentation with shoegaze works surprisingly well.
The apocalyptic vibes from this one are terrific
A softer track in which the edgecrusher reflects about his nature and realizes he doesn't belong to the machines still he's not human.
Motivational track with a positive message about humanity
BATTLE FOR UTOPIA
A bittersweet track that perfectly prepares the listener to the ending track with an excalating climax
Their Thrashiest song, you can clearly hear Hoglan's influence on the songwriting
NEVER ENDS (MEMORY IMPRINTS)
What a perfect epilogue, the "stars look down on me" part is wonderful.
VIRUS OF FAITH
Criminally overlooked song about an holy war between androids, the last 2 minutes are priceless. The drum machine fits well the song.
Soul of a New Machine
The beginning of everything, completely different from the following albums. That drum sound is insane. Also this may be one of the first Growl/clean vocal formula songs ever
The perfect way to begin this album. One of their most memorable riffs ever. I still suffer this didn't made it through the top 10.
The most atypical song from their latest effort, lots of clean vocals and mid tempo, even a solo. It has a sort of organic vibe. Imo this would've worked better as the album closer.
I love how Dino plays live a song that other band members wrote against him. Still one of the most iconic pieces they wrote. The atmospheric section after the bridge leads to the final chorus is an absolute highlight.
Their tradrmark is a mid paced intense song with some of their most memorable moments ever. The lyrics are truly effective and it's different style from the rest of the album adds diversity to that masterpiece.
The song that introduces the listener to the main antagonist. Besides the flawless execution of a flawless structured track what i love most is the parallelism and satire about police brutality and power abuse.
This ending is total. An electronic bittersweet ending about andeoid/human nature and how they deals with death.
Maybe the first metal song i've ever listened to when i was like 7.
Immediately fell in love with that double bass.
The most insane Herrera performance ever. Everything is terrific, from the riff to the balance between harsh growls and melancholic cleans, the final act will send shivers down your spine.
Goosebumps. The song about edgecrusher reaching essence of humanity is beyond beautiful. The "touche the sky" moment is beyond amazing.
Basically the fastest power ballad ever. A perfectly crafted song that explore the essence of death through the point of view of death itself
SELF BIAS RESISTOR
This song is the essence of Fear factory. The syncopated drums, rebel lyrics, the perfect vocal structure, the riffs. Everything about this song is written and executed in a majestic way.
