| Movie Opinions And Ratings
Saw some movies this week. Some were meh, some were good, 1 was ramazing. | 5 | | Clueless .
Watched this is school because a lot of girls in one of classes begged to see it (We were watching a movie to wind down from
APs.) Never liked movies that are about "mean high school girls." It just doesn't register with me
at all. It wasn't terrible though it had some funny parts. It was hard to pay attention to it
though. 2/4 Stars. | 4 | | The Island .
This was my second time seeing this movie. It had a cool idea: human clones being
grown so they can be harvested for organs and the first half of it was pretty great.
Ewan McGregor, Scarlett Johansson, Steve Buscemi, sounds like an amazing cast
right? Well it was pretty great up until Steve Buscemi was killed, from then on it
became a crappy over the top action movie where Scarlett Johansson had some of
the worst lines I've ever heard. This included screaming "DON'T DROP ME!" when she
was being pulled up by McGregor when almost falling off a building. Of course he isn't
going to try to drop you, terrible line Michael Bay, terrible line. She had an abundance
of these lines, trust me this wasn't the only one. When that truck hit the police car it
was just a little too cheesy, y'know? Once the action died down, it went back to being
decent, but the damage was done. Also, when one of the bad guys decided to switch
sides to be a hero, Bay threw in a random back story motive that was completely
unnecessary. 2.5/4 Stars. | 3 | | Macbeth (2010) .
Patrick Stewart as Macbeth? Eh why not? The twist is that it's been modernized sort of
into a Nazi looking Fascist state. Most of the acting was pretty good, but there was a
little bit of overacting by the woman who played Lady Macbeth. It was pretty creative
and overall rather enjoyable even if the scenery was a little too drab for even
Macbeth. 3/4 Stars. | 2 | | Frozen .
Finally got around to seeing this supposed Disney classic. It was actually pretty great
for a kid's movie. Anna and Elsa were great role models for little girls and Christoph
was a great role model for little boys. It defied a lot of fairytale stereotypes and
promoted independence while being silly enough to be child friendly. The random rock
trolls were unnecessary as hell though. Also when Hans betrayed Anna, that scene could have
been written better, but now I'm just nitpicking. 3.5/4 Stars. | 1 | | Melancholia .
A giant moon sized rock is on a crash course for Earth and Kirsten Dunst is a
depressed woman who surprisingly is the only one who knows how to cope with it.
Wonderfully written dialogue, emotionally provoking, scenic, well acted, and full of plot
twists. It's a slow movie, but it's evident once you get into the plot, that that's only to
build suspense. If Lars von Trier's other movies are this good, I think I found a new
favorite director. Don't want to spoil anything else, but this is recommended to anyone
who likes a good drama. 4/4 Stars. | |

05.19.14 | Melancholia is one hell of a movie. | Trebor.
05.19.14 | I successfully avoided Frozen until I started dating a girl obsessed with Disney
7/10 hard movie | deathschool
05.19.14 | Frozen rules. | Salvidian
05.19.14 | Clueless had that hot French maid so that's gotta be an automatic 9/10. And yeah Frozen was okay. | Salvidian
05.19.14 | Actually wait I thought Clueless was that Clue movie. You know. The one based on the game. | Trebor.
05.19.14 | Clueless is dated as fuck | NorthernSkylark
05.19.14 | Yes, thank you - Melancholia is so fucking good | ArsMoriendi
05.19.14 | @Salv: No, it's about mean/stupid high school girls. The clue movie was just called Clue. | Salvidian
05.19.14 | Yeah I figured it out. | FromDaHood
05.19.14 | Clueless is hilariously dated but is also an awesome adaptation of Emma which makes it timeless. The debate class scenes are great | AmericanFlagAsh
05.19.14 | I watched Clueless one afternoon when it was on TV and I was bored. I did not mind it. In fact, kind of liked it. Ars, do you like Mean Girls? | ArsMoriendi
05.19.14 | Mean Girls was definitely better, but I wouldn't necessarily praise it. | AmericanFlagAsh
05.19.14 | Mean Girls is a lot better. It's just such an enjoyable laid back and funny movie. | FromDaHood
05.19.14 | Mean Girls is super high-strung are you kidding me | Judio!
05.19.14 | Macbeth 2010 is an interesting adaption. Macbeth is just a wonderful play in general. coming from someone who was in a production of Macbeth a few years ago, there are so many different things that directors can do with that play. | ArsMoriendi
05.19.14 | @Judio!: Yeah I liked it, I just felt the adaptation could have been a little better. The original play is obviously perfect though; I can't deny that. | scottpilgrim10
05.19.14 | After watching Frozen all I wanted to do was sing a Whole New World. | Judio!
05.19.14 | Yeah, it probably could have been better if the movie's vision was more realized. I mean when I was in Macbeth at my school my director wanted it to take place in a post-apocalyptic world, so we went all out. It was a lot of fun to be a part of. | ArsMoriendi
05.19.14 | @Judio!: Have you seen Melancholia? I think you'd enjoy it. | PitchforkArms
05.19.14 | melancholia is von trier's best but it is still a 7/10 for me nothing he has ever made is great, actually, nothing is even good other than melancholia, its all super pseudo-intellectual bullshit. | YoYoMancuso
05.19.14 | Finally saw L.A. Confidential this week it blew me away. Also rewatched a bunch of Scorsese's masterpices | ArsMoriendi
05.19.14 | @PitchforkArms: Hopefully I disagree. I heard Nymphomaniac was pretty good though... still wanna see it.
@YoYoMancuso: Nice. | Judio!
05.19.14 | @Ars: Nope, haven't seen it. Then again I'm not much of a Von Trier fan so idk if it's exactly going to be my thing. | skelesaur
05.20.14 | list should only be about TMNT movies | NorthernSkylark
05.20.14 | Both Antichrist and Melancholia are great movies, haven't watched Nymphomaniac but it's LVT so it's bound to be daring and beautiful. | Verm
05.20.14 | 3 is like 2,5/4 at best, and that's being generous | TheGreatQ
05.20.14 | I still can't believe that in 4 Scarlett Johansson was all "hey, I should be topless for the sex scene" and Michael Bay was like "nah, wear a bra" | Verm
05.20.14 | Is michael bay, what do you expect fella ? |
