Movie Opinions And Ratings

Saw some movies this week. Some were meh, some were good, 1 was ramazing.
5 Clueless
.

Watched this is school because a lot of girls in one of classes begged to see it (We were watching a movie to wind down from
APs.) Never liked movies that are about "mean high school girls." It just doesn't register with me
at all. It wasn't terrible though it had some funny parts. It was hard to pay attention to it
though. 2/4 Stars.
4 The Island
.

This was my second time seeing this movie. It had a cool idea: human clones being
grown so they can be harvested for organs and the first half of it was pretty great.
Ewan McGregor, Scarlett Johansson, Steve Buscemi, sounds like an amazing cast
right? Well it was pretty great up until Steve Buscemi was killed, from then on it
became a crappy over the top action movie where Scarlett Johansson had some of
the worst lines I've ever heard. This included screaming "DON'T DROP ME!" when she
was being pulled up by McGregor when almost falling off a building. Of course he isn't
going to try to drop you, terrible line Michael Bay, terrible line. She had an abundance
of these lines, trust me this wasn't the only one. When that truck hit the police car it
was just a little too cheesy, y'know? Once the action died down, it went back to being
decent, but the damage was done. Also, when one of the bad guys decided to switch
sides to be a hero, Bay threw in a random back story motive that was completely
unnecessary. 2.5/4 Stars.
3 Macbeth (2010)
.

Patrick Stewart as Macbeth? Eh why not? The twist is that it's been modernized sort of
into a Nazi looking Fascist state. Most of the acting was pretty good, but there was a
little bit of overacting by the woman who played Lady Macbeth. It was pretty creative
and overall rather enjoyable even if the scenery was a little too drab for even
Macbeth. 3/4 Stars.
2 Frozen
.

Finally got around to seeing this supposed Disney classic. It was actually pretty great
for a kid's movie. Anna and Elsa were great role models for little girls and Christoph
was a great role model for little boys. It defied a lot of fairytale stereotypes and
promoted independence while being silly enough to be child friendly. The random rock
trolls were unnecessary as hell though. Also when Hans betrayed Anna, that scene could have
been written better, but now I'm just nitpicking. 3.5/4 Stars.
1 Melancholia
.

A giant moon sized rock is on a crash course for Earth and Kirsten Dunst is a
depressed woman who surprisingly is the only one who knows how to cope with it.
Wonderfully written dialogue, emotionally provoking, scenic, well acted, and full of plot
twists. It's a slow movie, but it's evident once you get into the plot, that that's only to
build suspense. If Lars von Trier's other movies are this good, I think I found a new
favorite director. Don't want to spoil anything else, but this is recommended to anyone
who likes a good drama. 4/4 Stars.
