I hate moving so often

This is going to be the 3rd year in a row I'm moving to a new apartment! I've now lived in 3 NYC boroughs. Here's 14 NYC bands (not including ones without pages like Patti, Old Table or Bugger) that aren't huge I've seen live ranked based on their live shows
14Sunk Heaven
THE FVCKHEAѪTED LVNG

Industrial/noise

He had weird wand-microphone-thing that made noise when he waved it around. It was novel, but I was glad he was only an opening act (for Godcaster the 1st time I saw them.) First concert I've been to with Robertsona.
13Guerilla Toss
Famously Alive

Dance punk/noise rock

I just don't like them? They were the main act, but the opener Godcaster was why I was there (2nd time I saw them) (recurring theme lol.) Also fuck the people moshing to the slower lighter songs. Mosh when they get heavy or fast only, duh!
12Dirt Buyer
Dirt Buyer II

Slowcore/emo

Vocals were too emo for me, but the guitar was good. Especially since they were chiller than the acts that bookended them, so it vibed well. Yet again...opened for Godcaster (the 3rd time I saw them.)
11Miserable Chillers
Great American Turn Off

New Wave/sophisti-pop

Saw them because user Robertsona sang as a feature on one of the songs. I like the song he sang, but the rest are a bit Zzz.
10Moon Kissed
I’d Like to Tell You Something Important

Synthpop/electropop

Robertsona threw a concert a few years back and this was one of the acts. Fun live for sure though maybe not enough to get me to check the album. They had a cool electronic xylophone thing.
9Venus Twins
Kickass

Noise rock

LOUD like in an ear shattering Lightning Bolt way, but honestly even louder. They had a guy make sketches while they played. They were also an opening act for Godcaster the 3rd time I saw them but when on before Dirty Buyer.
8Palomar
Palomar III: Revenge of Palomar

Indie Rock

Robertsona and I stumbled across them in a random bar and had a great time. 90s indie sounding like 90s indie. They closed with a cover of "I'm Sticking with You" by The Velvet Underground.
7Irrevery
Irrevery Volume I

Punk blues

Robertsona helped run a Halloween show where a ton of acts played cover sets as bands. Irrevery was Kate Bush and the lead singer was super drunk and still vibed awesomely. Loved when she did "Suspended in Gaffa" especially! Punk blues refers more to their original material.
6Water from Your Eyes
Everyone's Crushed

Art pop/post-punk

Saw them at a tiny bookstore venue. Actually it's the same one where I saw Miserable Chillers but at a different time. I didn't like their album, but god were they fun live!!! Laptop and all.
5Palberta
Roach Goin' Down

Punk/post-punk

Saw them at this one venue where I was super sleepy, but they were fun! They switch their instruments around! Also one member performed at the Halloween show as Liz Phair, so I guess I've seen them 1 ⅓ times.
4Julia Kwamya
Feel Good About Feeling Bad

Nu-disco

At the same show Robertsona threw that had Moon kissed, except she was so good that I listened to her EP a few days later and liked it. (Oh yeah Snake. was there too and Minushuman24 was visiting from a far away, Minus come back!
3Fantasy of a Broken Heart
Feats of Engineering

Neo-psychedelia/dream pop

I've seen them twice. First when they performed for a birthday of one of the Water from Your Eyes members (Geese played too, but I had to leave before they went on, oh well) and then another time at that bookstore the same day I saw Water from Your Eyes (though that time not ever member could be there) and they're very good! Their first fill LP comes out THIS MONTH ON the 27th! Trust me, it'll be good!
2Crumb (USA-NY)
Ice Melt

Neo-psychedelia/indie pop

Easily the most famous band here. Saw them with Conmaniac when he visited NYC and immediately got into them. Jazzy drums, dreamy vocals, pretty and relaxing, but modern.
1Godcaster
Godcaster

Art punk

I've seen them 3 times and they're easily my favorite local band. I'd see them again! If I had to rank the times I've seen them: 3rd time > 1st time > 2nd time, but the 2nd time they were only the warmup, so that makes sense. Frantic and fun stuff!
