07.21.23 | Shira small album is very moving to me but it might be partially because I’m a high school teacher and there’s maybe a sentimental thought of some of my smartest students (she seems like such a great person on this album, and in a 2006 interview). I think the touches of oddness and literal “high school thesis project recorded in a high school” element give it an “outsider psych soul” flavor. Idk if you’ve heard that album recorded in a prison eyes of love lol. “Gimme magic” almost feels like suddenly it’s a 12 year old singing even though her voice doesn’t change. fingerpainter’s lyrics. But I agree that anyone who can write a melody like that first I want to lay with you one can’t be a total outsider to the aesthetic system. |

perhaps you should try it to see what i mean. altho again i dont necessarily recommend it for the strength of the music |
