02.08.12 | Start with #1 |
AngelofDeath
02.08.12 | I don't know if 1's as easy to get into as 2, but I like them about the same. |
DominionMM1
02.08.12 | 1. then 2. then the rest of Neurosis' discog. |
Nikkolae
02.08.12 | maybe Given to The Rising? or Panopticon. |
Inveigh
02.08.12 | yea Neurosis is the superior band, but I always say it's easiest to start with Souls at Zero and working forward chronologically
TSiB is probably their best, but I'm also really partial to Times of Grace |
xenocide.
02.08.12 | Why the hell are you gonna limit your experience to one album? Get them all, mediafire still exists. |
RooseveltsGhost
02.08.12 | To me at least, Isis is more of a heavy, stoner-friendly, post-rock band. The aggression that 'metal' implies never really comes into play. For that reason, Isis is always calming, even during heavy sections. Neurosis licks my dirty asshole; I don't respect the comparison between the two bands. |
DominionMM1
02.08.12 | "yea Neurosis is the superior band, but I always say it's easiest to start with Souls at Zero and working forward chronologically"
you can always go backwards.
|
MO
02.08.12 | Neurosis owns Isis so hard |
JohnnyoftheWell
02.08.12 | "Why the hell are you gonna limit your experience to one album? Get them all, mediafire still exists."
Because I find that I can always enjoy music more if I listen to 1-3 albums at a time, so I can appreciate it properly
|
DominionMM1
02.08.12 | start with Neurosis' Through Silver In Blood. Everything that makes Neurosis great can be found on that record. |
Nikkolae
02.08.12 | "Neurosis licks my dirty asshole; I don't respect the comparison between the two bands."
lololololol no there really isnt cos
"Neurosis owns Isis so hard" |
XingKing
02.08.12 | I'm going to say Panopticon. That album is essential. |
KILL
02.08.12 | neurosis are better but both are too low bpms |
JAV
02.08.12 | Easiest Neurosis is Eye, easiest Isis would be Panopticon out of what you have there
|
SpiritCrusher2
02.08.12 | @KILL haha.
start with oceanic |
Auschwitz
02.08.12 | dont limit yourself to just one band, theyre both great. but if i had to choose id take Neurosis. |
Inveigh
02.08.12 | "you can always go backwards."
well yeah but I was more implying that Souls at Zero is closer to traditional metal than most of their catalog, and if that's your starting point then it might be most rewarding/interesting to go chronologically and hear their progression.
I agree that Through Silver in Blood is their best and probably the best overall representation of their sound. |
JohnnyoftheWell
02.08.12 | Looks like I'll be picking up Through Silver in Blood, thanks guys |
LegendofPittman
02.08.12 | I think Neurosis is the better band, but definitely start with Isis. |
Crysis
02.08.12 | The Eye of Every Storm is the best album you have listed here, and Neurosis is far and away the better band. |
Funeralopolis
02.08.12 | this is a pretty fair match up good call on that! Battle of the blades Commmmmmmmence. Ya! |
tarkus
02.08.12 | enemy of the sun was the one that made me get neurosis
and yes neurosis beats isis with a bloody hooker |
Maniac!
02.08.12 | 1 and 4 are classics |
Divine
02.08.12 | Judging by your taste, you should start with "Panopticon." |
DeadBeat
02.08.12 | Panopticon dude |
TheFonz123
02.08.12 | i would say neurosis are better but isis is more accesible; either way start with oceanic. |
FearThyEvil
02.09.12 | Neurosis owns Isis without question but 2 is Neurosis's most accessible album. |
PistolPete
02.09.12 | You'll like 4 best, trust |
Paracletus96
02.09.12 | Neurosis > Rosetta > Amenra > Callisto > Cult of Luna > Buried Inside > x100000 other boring post metal bands somethingsomething >>>>> ISIS. |
gabethepiratesquid
02.09.12 | The Eye Of Every Storm sucks.
Get The Sun.
and I like them both a lot. ISIS is usually enjoyed by more prog fans and Neurosis is usually enjoyed more by tr00 metalheads. |
Oathbreaker
02.09.12 | 2
Neurosis>Isis |
Oathbreaker
02.09.12 | Also, AMENRAAAAAAAAA |
13themount
02.09.12 | "Why the hell are you gonna limit your experience to one album? Get them all, mediafire still exists."
yes show how much you love a band by getting their stuff for free... There is stuff on youtube too. |
Funeralopolis
02.09.12 | 13: that doesn't even make sense did you read the quote? It says to CHECK them out not express your undying love. |
13themount
02.09.12 | Fune - yes I did note that, but wanted to make the post anyway as this get stuff for free mentality is so annoying. He still would get them for free to check them out and if you can get something for free then you are more likely to get all you can rather than all you really want or need. |
stabbler
02.09.12 | cult of Luna isn't better than Buried Inside |
Powerban
02.09.12 | with the albums you posted, you can't go wrong. fuck any faggot that says otherwise. |
Relinquished
02.09.12 | oh man this thread is retarded

xenocide.
02.09.12 | @ 13themount: I actually own all Neurosis albums (including EP) and four albums by Isis on CD's. Does it mean anything? I wouldn't recommend him buying them, though, since he isn't sure if he likes these bands. |
coleba
02.09.12 | The answer is: Rosetta. |
Relinquished
02.09.12 | yeah |
stabbler
02.09.12 | nah |
Inveigh
02.09.12 | goddamn this thread devolved into serious idiocy |
Inveigh
02.09.12 | idk about that, at least coming from the perspective of never actually listening to either one before. they're compared pretty frequently around the internet (well, mainly in terms of early ISIS ripping off Neurosis, but still). |
Imperial
02.09.12 | 1, 3, 2 then 4. |
xenocide.
02.09.12 | Isis and Neurosis complement each other in the realm of post-metal. There is no competition between them. |
FearThyEvil
02.09.12 | Have to admit though these bands are not very accessible. Amazing: Yes Accessible:Hardly could take quite awhile to fully appreciate them. |
Ignimbrite
02.09.12 | post-metal threads go to shit so quickly |
xenocide.
02.09.12 | most of other threads are shit right from the start, js. |
Relinquished
02.09.12 | yeah this one was too stupid so I took it upon myself to drive it to the ground |
DominionMM1

DominionMM1
02.10.12 | yeah. I just ordered another pair just for collectors sake. |
Superreallycool
11.10.15 | Super close but I like Isis more. Both are absolutely amazing, though |
BallsDeep
11.18.15 | ISIS by a country fucking mile. I really couldn't care less that Neurosis came first. I'd prefer an Iphone 6 over a Nokia brick any day of the week. |
Artuma
11.18.15 | neurosis easily but they don't really sound much like each other apart from celestite |
trve
11.18.15 | times of grace mixed with grace is gonna blow you away for sure |
trve
11.18.15 | and The answer is: Rosetta. [2] |
Flugmorph
11.18.15 | @ballsdeep
The fact alone that you prefer to mention the iphone over any other modern smartphone brand makes you unlikeable |
Asdfp277
11.18.15 | neurosis, all the way |
Asdfp277
11.18.15 | lmao discussing phones what
