| Rec some jazz?
Jazz is how I got into hip hop and extreme metal. Honestly that and thinking that every extreme metal band wants to sound like a variant of Motorhead. Anyways, here’s my limited repertoire.
I have listened to a few Miles Davis, John Coltrane, Herbie Hancock, and Charles Mingus albums. I picked my favorites/the GOAT jazz albums from what limited knowledge of jazz I have. | | 1 | | Miles Davis Kind of Blue
As basic as it gets. I love Davis shit. I think almost every person into rock listens to this to start. | | 2 | | John Coltrane A Love Supreme
If it isn’t Kind of Blue, it is this for the other best jazz album. | | 3 | | Charles Mingus The Black Saint and the Sinner Lady
A fucking classic album. I remember a guy recommending this to me when I was 19 and it blew my mind. | | 4 | | Herbie Hancock Sextant
I don’t know if this is jazz? My point is I am trying to open up my taste buds. | | 5 | | Thelonious Monk Thelonious Monk Plays Duke Ellington
This was the first Thelonious Monk album I could listen to. | |
