| Platy Ranks: Poppy
The timing feels appropriate with the release of Empty Hands, plus I haven't done a discography ranking in quite a while. Curious to know how others would rank these too! | | 12 | | Poppy A Very Poppy Christmas
NOT INCLUDED: (aka releases that don't feel like meaningful additions to her discography enough to rank)
A Very Poppy Christmas
Music to Scream To
I C U: Music to Read To
3:36: (Music to Sleep To) | | 11 | | Poppy Poppy.Computer
I’m a fan of a dad joke here and there but holy shit there are so many computer/technology puns on this album and it drives me crazy. The songs at best are guilty pleasures and at worst are downright awful. Very happy she didn’t stick with this sound for very long.
Highlights: Let's Make a Video, Interweb | | 10 | | Poppy Stagger
Can’t really be too harsh towards this one since these are pretty clearly Flux B-sides, but at the same time, the songs are just so average and underwhelming.
Highlights: Pocket, Shapes | | 9 | | Poppy Empty Hands
This could’ve been named ‘Negative Spaces 2.0’ and it would’ve been pretty fitting. While it’s far from being terrible, it’s obvious that this album sticks to the exact same playbook as her previous one, and the returns diminished greatly. Someone get her a new producer.
Highlights: Public Domain, Dying to Forget, Eat The Hate | | 8 | | Poppy Zig
I won’t lie, a lot of this album is just downright stupid (“when you zig I zag, when you zig I zag I zigzag”) but a lot of songs still find themselves in guilty pleasure territory. Also, ‘The Attic’ is a seriously S-tier track.
Highlights: Hard, The Attic, Motorbike, Zig | | 7 | | Poppy Am I a Girl?
Genre-wise, this is probably the least focused album she’s ever released, and it’s also incredibly inconsistent. The lyrics are very hit-or-miss, but most of the songs are earworms nonetheless. And this is the first time she ever dabbled with heavier sounds.
Highlights: Iconic, Time Is Up, Am I A Girl?, Play Destroy | | 6 | | Poppy Choke
This EP felt like a transitional release of sorts that marked Poppy’s full-on embrace of heavy music, even though she flirted with it a bit in AIAG. Even though she went on to refine her approach to industrial music later in her career, this is still fantastic.
Highlights: Choke, Voicemail, Meat | | 5 | | Poppy Flux
One of her most overlooked albums, largely because it didn’t produce any noteworthy hits. But I think ‘Her’ is one of the best songs of this decade so far, and it’s not even the only underrated song on here. A bit more inconsistent than some of her other albums, but it’s still one that I would highly recommend.
Highlights: Flux, Lessen the Damage, Hysteria, Her, As Strange As it Seems | | 4 | | Poppy Bubblebath
I’ll die on the hill that this is a severely underrated EP. For the uninitiated, this is Poppy at her full-on poppiest, but I’d be lying if I said that these weren’t catchy as heck.
Highlights: Lowlife, Money, Altar | | 3 | | Poppy Negative Spaces
I know Jordan Fish-core has run its course by this point, but Negative Spaces is probably the best album he’s produced so far (and will likely remain that way given how stagnant his sound has gotten). This felt fresh as hell when it was released, and it has some of Poppy’s biggest earworms to date.
Highlights: have you had enough?, they're all around us, push go, the center's falling out, negative spaces, surviving on defiance | | 2 | | Poppy I Disagree
A clusterfuck in the best way possible - and an album that took a long time to finally click with me. I’m pretty sure I only had this at a 3 or so when I first heard it. Not as heavy as EAT, but the industrial influences are so damn good here.
Highlights: I Disagree, BLOODMONEY, Anything Like Me, Sit / Stay, Bite Your Teeth, Don't Go Outside | | 1 | | Poppy EAT (NXT Soundtrack)
Heavy Poppy is the best Poppy. I’d cut off my pinky toe if it meant she’d commit to this sound for even just one full LP. Not just my favorite release of hers, but this is legit one of my favorite EPs to come out in the last decade.
Highlights: EAT, Say Cheese, CUE, Breeders, Dark Dark World
(yeah I know that's the whole EP, so what) | |

01.26.26 | Deleted all my old discography ranking lists (most of them were outdated anyway) so I figured I'd start fresh.
Not trying to start any arguments! Which is a weird thing to have to clarify but Poppy seems to be a bit "divisive" on this site lol. | GreyShadow
01.26.26 | i think ive only heard Eat off of Eat. in terms of albums i've only listened to I Disagree and Negative Spaces but now im curious to just check it all. i know there's some bopsssssss as far as her pre-heavy days go | JoyfulPlatypus
01.26.26 | Yeah her early pop stuff, as inconsistent as it was, has some bangers. | PanosChris
01.29.26 | It breaks my little heart to see 'Flux' at #5 (easily my favorite Poppy project) - but I do understand the reasoning behind every ranking.
Great list, my friend + now I want to listen to 'EAT' again, be right back lol |
