Hawks
12.21.25 | GIMME GIMME GIMME!!! |
jrlikestodance
12.21.25 | The new AFI album is the best of their goth rock era imo, you might dig it |
Hawks
12.21.25 | Added bro! |
naughtcturnal
12.21.25 | Fields of the Nephilim - Dawnrazor is my GOAT
edit: they just pit out a really good remaster combining all tracks from both UK and US versions of the album + “Blue Water” |
Hawks
12.21.25 | Good call, been meaning to jam that one. I love The Nephilim!!! |
arthropod
12.21.25 | Closterkeller - Violet
I would rec Cyan because Władza is a banger or Argento because it's new, but neither is in the database and I'm too lazy to add them. Nonetheless, this band is a fucking classic so jam them hard. |
Hawks
12.21.25 | Adding now buddy! |
pyroflare77
12.21.25 | I got like barely anything in this wheelhouse besides Camgirl and Messa, but
Fuckmorgue - Down Forever
Want gothic blackened crusty skramz? |
arthropod
12.21.25 | About Violet... I mean, pros and cons. Anja was kind of cooked vocally because she was pregnant at the time and it only worked because the montage was good. But "W moim kraju" is a 90's anthem, so the balance is kept. |
Hawks
12.21.25 | Added Pyro!!! Hype to hear it Art bro. |
SharkTooth
12.21.25 | Dude you need to check Bauhaus. In the Flat Fields specifically slaps cheeks front to back
Also if you're willing to extend to Gothic metal Type O Negative is also great, I started with October rust but really any album of theirs will be worth your whole |
Hawks
12.21.25 | I love what I've heard from Type O for sure. Been meaning to jam Bauhaus, adding now! |
Veldin
12.21.25 | Have you heard any gothic era Swans? |
Hawks
12.21.25 | I have not bro, any particular album? |
Sharenge
12.21.25 | you better rec Children of God
bro "Terror Couple Kill Colonel" is such a jam you in for a treat |
Hawks
12.21.25 | Will add Children of God! |
83Bumakis
12.21.25 | Def hit up Clan of Xymox, particularly the debut, Medusa, Creatures and Notes from the Underground. Also the self titled Saviour Machine is a must. And another huge vote for Fields of the Nephilim. |
Hawks
12.21.25 | Adding bro! |
ToSmokMuzyki
12.21.25 | RIP the twilight force binge |
Hawks
12.21.25 | Yeah, I realized I didn't wanna do that power metal list LMAO. |
BookoftheFallen
12.21.25 | Do you like katatonia and paradise lost? The birthday massacre also. |
ConcubinaryCode
12.22.25 | The Cure - Pornography |
Hawks
12.22.25 | I've heard Katatonia and Paradise Lost's whole discogs bro. Any particular album by The Birthday Massacre??
Been meaning to jam The Cure hard. |
SharkTooth
12.22.25 | ooooh you haven't checked the Cure yet? Check Disentegration right after Pornography, I prefer that record, it sounds nothing like Pornography jsyk, but still an absolute classic |
Hawks
12.22.25 | Added bro!! Hype to hear them. |
heck
12.22.25 | The Sisters of Mercy - First and Last and Always
one rec per person right? I could list a dozen albums but you need some Sisters representation. |
bach
12.22.25 | hell yeah
Virgin Prunes - if I die, I die |
Hawks
12.22.25 | Thanks bros, adding now! |
Hawks
12.22.25 | Also, you can give more than one rec, but preferably no more than three per user so I can make sure I get through this. |
bach
12.22.25 | fs buddy I got you
Christian death - only theatre of pain
The Birthday Party - junkyard
|
Hawks
12.22.25 | I've heard that Christian Death album bro, adding The Birthday Party now!! |
bach
12.22.25 | Ahh gotcha. you peeped the more goth stuff from cocteau twins? head over heels is worth your time if you haven't checked yet |
Hawks
12.22.25 | Have only heard one Cocteau Twins album! Adding that now. |
arthropod
12.22.25 | I second BookoftheFallen
The Birthday Massacre - Violet (you'll have much of that color here) |
bighubbabuddha
12.22.25 | Fields of the Nephilim- Elizium
I got you bro |
Hawks
12.22.25 | Added bros! |
arthropod
12.22.25 | So, how's your experience with 3? |
heck
12.22.25 | glad someone rec'd Elizium, GOATed album
I'll add Euroshima - Gala and Siouxsie and the Banshees - Juju to my recs |
Hawks
12.22.25 | 3 is good, but a bit overlong tbh. Adding Euroshima now! I've heard that Banshees album and love it. |
heck
12.22.25 | sick, okay then swap that rec for The Damned - Phantasmagoria then |
Hawks
12.22.25 | Adding now!! |
Voivod
12.22.25 | I just came by the following link:
https://davidgalas.bandcamp.com/album/the-nihilist
If you want more, check my lists from previous years with key phrases "post punk" "gothic rock" |
Hawks
12.22.25 | Oh hell yeah, thanks buddy!! |
SharkTooth
12.22.25 | HELL YEAH to that Bauhaus rating
Also do put Type O Negative on there. Really any album of htiers would do but October Rust has Love You To Death so I would put that |
Hawks
12.22.25 | Amazing album bro!! |
Hawks
12.22.25 | Keep the recs coming! Will allow more than three per user at this point. I'm binging hard. |
Voivod
12.22.25 | Peter Murphy from Bauhaus has released a new album this year.
https://petermurphy.bandcamp.com/album/silver-shade
Amazing vocal work, and interesting arrangements to say the least. |
Hawks
12.22.25 | Let's gooo!!! Hype to hear it, really love that Bauhaus album. This sounds is just so appealing to me. Always loved gothic metal so this is really just a natural progression for me. |
Ectier
12.22.25 | The foreshadowing is one i found revently, havent gotten to fully checking it out yet though. Site has them listed as doom metal but i thought they where goth rock, disregard if you want birdman |
Hawks
12.22.25 | Looks right up my alley bro! Gonna add! I don't mind adding some albums more geared towards gothic metal. |
Ectier
12.22.25 | Oh Cellar Darling |
Hawks
12.22.25 | Added!! |
Ectier
12.22.25 | Its the band the first vocalist of the Gathering formed after she left for memory |
Hawks
12.22.25 | AHHHHH nice, should love it then. |
Hawks
12.23.25 | The Cure just blew my friggin mind. |
Voivod
12.23.25 | Also check everything from Soror Dolorosa, especially the last two albums. |
Hawks
12.23.25 | Adding the last two for now!! |
RunOfTheMill
12.23.25 | Siouxsie and the Banshees - Juju (the classic) and Tinderbox (my personal fav)
Sisters of Mercy - Floodlands
Drab Majesty - Modern Mirror |
RunOfTheMill
12.23.25 | Hawks you have such an eclectic and varied taste in music, I'm genuinely shocked you haven't heard The Cure 'til now |
Hawks
12.23.25 | I've heard that one Banshees album (Juju) [2]
Adding the others now! |
Hawks
12.23.25 | I'm also shocked tbh hahaha. |
RunOfTheMill
12.23.25 | Ah cool, Juju is awesome. Tinderbox is a much less abrasive album, but what it loses in shock value, it gains in quality songwriting, infectious melodies, and top-tier guitar work, especially in the genre.
Glad to see you dig The Cure too, they've got a ton of different sounds across their albums, they have something for everyone |
Hawks
12.23.25 | Fuck yeah bro, definitely plan on getting more into The Cure's discog soon. |
ConcubinaryCode
12.23.25 | Hell yeah jam 17 seconds and faith. Those and pornography make up their goth trilogy |
Hawks
12.23.25 | Will do brother!! |
arthropod
12.23.25 | Not really into The Cure, but I second that. 17 s is an emotional burden to listen to, but that's a personal issue of mine. A Forest is great.
If there's no recs limit anymore...
1. Scary Bitches - Lesbian Vampires from Outer Space. Rec'd for lolz with full seriousness.
2. XIII. Stoleti - Ztraceni v Karpatech. They're goth spearheads in Czechia and their greatest hit, Elizabeth, is on this album.
3. Closterkeller - Argento. Their latest, and the first album they've released independently. I'm going with this because I'm freshly after a listen and I'm curious what other people think. |
Hawks
12.23.25 | Nice, will add shortly bro! |
SharkTooth
12.24.25 | Oh we're recommending more cure? Let me recommend all the cure you'll ever need then
Head on the Door
Kiss Me, Kiss Me, Kiss Me
Wish
Bloodflowers(this is one of those 'love it or hate it' records, if it clicks with you it'll REALLY click with you but for many it doesn't so be warned you might not like it)
Songs of a Lost World |
Hawks
12.24.25 | I might as well just jam their whole discog lol. |
Sharenge
12.24.25 | you forgetted about Primitive Man and Killing Joke tho |
Hawks
12.24.25 | No I didn't lol. |
Veldin
12.24.25 | I second The Birthday Party’s Junkyard! That’s Nick Caves early band and in case you haven’t heard it- Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds - Let Love in, an absolute masterpiece |
Sharenge
12.24.25 | well I feel like Night Time and Brighter Than a Thousand Suns are probably the most 'gothic'-adjacent but I didn't want to deter you from starting at the beginning since you said you were gonna jam self-titled debut |
Hawks
12.24.25 | I'm about to jam it now actually Sharenge bro!! I'll add the others to the list. I'm not adding The Cure's whole discog though lol.
Veldin bro I've heard Let Love In, amazing album. |
SharkTooth
12.24.25 | understandable lol, I but you know what they say, you miss 100% of the shots you don't take |
Dewinged
12.24.25 | The last Tribulation is what you're looking for homie. |
Hawks
12.24.25 | I've heard that Dewi bro!!! Love it! |
bach
12.24.25 | hey boss got a couple more for you
Killing joke - night time
Modern english - mesh & lace
Iron curtain - tarantula scream
|
bach
12.24.25 | Oh yeah and the birthday party - bad seed EP |
Hawks
12.24.25 | NICE, thanks buddy. |
Voivod
12.24.25 | Aeon Sable - Visionaers, Aether
An Erotic End of Times - Chapter One |
Hawks
12.24.25 | You're the man!! |
Voivod
12.24.25 | David Galas - The Nihilist
https://davidgalas.bandcamp.com/album/the-nihilist |
Hawks
12.24.25 | That one is here bro, you already rec'd it!! |
Voivod
12.24.25 | I stand corrected. |
Hawks
12.24.25 | Hahahahaha! |
bighubbabuddha
12.24.25 | Enjoy FoN Hawks M// |
Hawks
12.24.25 | I love the first two albums bro so I'm sure I'll enjoy that one too! |
Hawks
12.24.25 | Keep recs coming boys! |
Emim
12.24.25 | Absolutely criminal The Birthday Massacre rating |
Hawks
12.24.25 | Sorry bro lol. Not really dark enough for me if that makes sense. |
Emim
12.24.25 | https://youtu.be/KoeOIXuhtR8?si=Smb8me7UfSHBz0K7 |
arthropod
12.24.25 | Lovers End and Blue are dark as shit but that's not the band's point. Rather the atmosphere of a contaminated childhood fantasy. To each their own lol. |
Hawks
12.24.25 | Ok if I don't like Violet, what is the next one I should try? |
arthropod
12.24.25 | Probably Waking With Strangers. Still not very dark but the songs are a bit more elaborate and varied (take Red Stars, Kill the Lights and Science, they're like night and two days). And it contains Looking Glass, which is their best song.
Pins and Needles is darker but also more stale of an album. Still, worth a shot.
If you're looking for darker stuff, it's mostly the matter of the song. Pins & Needles, Sleep Tonight, Whisper and Over should fill the bill. |
Hawks
12.24.25 | Adding it now! |
Emim
12.24.25 | What arthro said. I don't really listen to them for dark music, but those are my favorite albums by them. Super consistent either way |
heck
12.25.25 | I love The Birthday Massacre but I'm not sure they were an appropriate recommendation for a goth list. I don't know anybody in the goth scene who would consider them goth music. they lack the punk/post-punk roots that make goth music goth. they're more industrial rock than anything. |
arthropod
12.25.25 | I think Violet is close enough but I fully agree overall. The current plan is just brainwashing Hawks into liking them. |
Hawks
12.25.25 | Hahahaha we shall see! Maybe they'll grow, but doesn't seem like particularly my thing. |
heck
12.25.25 | couple more came to mind, check The Snake Corps - Flesh on Flesh and Rosetta Stone - Adrenaline. Rosetta Stone's pretty much a Sisters ripoff but more danceable, not the most original but entertaining |
Hawks
12.25.25 | You're the man!! |
Hawks
12.26.25 | The Damned rules so hard, holy shit. |
widowslaugh123
12.26.25 | Since you liked phantasmagoria so much can I red The Damned-The Black Album? |
Hawks
12.26.25 | Absolutely, adding now! |
widowslaugh123
12.26.25 | Hell yeah dude. Band is so underrated it’s stupid |
Hawks
12.26.25 | Can't wait to jam!! |
heck
12.26.25 | love The Damned. their early punk stuff and their mid-period goth stuff both rule, later stuff isn't too shabby either |
Hawks
12.26.25 | That album is so damn good. Can't wait to hear more. |
heck
12.26.25 | 'nother more modern rec: Nox Novacula - Feed the Fire. it's currently name-your-price on their Bandcamp too cause their label is having a sale |
Hawks
12.26.25 | Adding now brother! |
heck
12.26.25 | since I'm giving a lot of recs I just wanna mention the late legendary Papa Universe, who was a big influence on me when I was getting into post-punk and goth music. his old lists are goldmines for this style of music. hard RIP, miss him |
Hawks
12.26.25 | Papa was such an awesome dude. Miss him also. :[ |
Voivod
12.27.25 | Came here to rec 46, but heck got me, kudos. |
Hawks
12.27.25 | Nice lol. |
Voivod
12.27.25 | On another note, I'm somewhat surprised no one has recommended Danzig, first three albums. |
heck
12.27.25 | first time I've ever seen them called gothic rock but I'd back that as a general rec
now Samhain on the other hand
another for the list is Samhain - November-Coming-Fire |
Voivod
12.27.25 | ^^Yeah, Danzig is not gothic rock by the numbers, but still... |
Hawks
12.27.25 | Will add the first Danzig album and Samhain HARD. Got a Veilburner interview coming up in about 45 minutes, but I plan on jamming some of these after. |
Voivod
12.28.25 | Scheitan - Wine for a Tormented Soul |
Hawks
12.28.25 | Adding!! |
Rolling Girl
12.28.25 | Rosegarden Funeral Party - At the Stake EP
Astrophysics - Sexo, Violencia, Rio & Sao Paolo |
Hawks
12.29.25 | Will add! About to jam some of these. |
Hawks
12.30.25 | Damn, list has been full of bangers so far. |
bach
12.30.25 | If ya got room for 1 more
Lycia - a day in the stark corner |
Hawks
12.30.25 | Oh, I have room lol. I plan on filling the list up to 100 if possible. |
Ectier
12.31.25 | Oh you got to mine and seemed to enjoy them neat |
mystagogus
12.31.25 | Autumn - The hating tree |
InFlamesWeThrash666
12.31.25 | The Cult - Love
Grave Pleasures - Motherblood
Nefilim - Zoon (on the heavier side but a must listen imo) |
Hawks
12.31.25 | Hell yeah, will add shortly!! |
RunOfTheMill
12.31.25 | So happy you dug Tinderbox |
Hawks
12.31.25 | It rules so hard bro. |
arthropod
01.04.26 | Let's be real, any sane man would know what to expect of 30 just by the title lol. |
Hawks
01.04.26 | Pretty much lol. |
Hawks
01.07.26 | KEEP RECS COMING!!! |
bach
01.07.26 | Knew you'd really dig Night Time bro |
gabba
01.07.26 | Very cool list Hawks! Some of the albums below lean towards southern gothic, others are heavy on post-punk, dream pop or industrial, but they all come from a bat's cave:
Dead Can Dance - Dead Can Dance
Dream City Film Club - Dream City Film Club
Cranes - Forever
The Soft Moon - Deeper
The Angels of Light - We Are Him
The Sound - Jeopardy |
XfingTheSullen
01.07.26 | Well.. Theatre of Tragedy - Aegis, obviously. Best such music I've ever heard |
XfingTheSullen
01.07.26 | well, of course messa and tristania too, but those are more metal than rock |
arthropod
01.07.26 | Yep, Argento sits in the 3.5 range to me as well. Drags a decent bit but I didn't expect to like the melodies and spiritual themes so much. |
Donchivo
01.07.26 | Hey Hawksyboy,
you weren't really fond of my Black Metal suggestion, but I am trying it again:
Dreadful Shadows - Buried Again
Metal tinged old school Gothic Rock that flows quite well! |
Hawks
01.07.26 | NICE!!! Thanks all! :] |
zakalwe
01.07.26 | 16 is the best of the best |
Sharenge
01.07.26 | feel like some Laibach could potentially fit the bill will have to consider which of their albums I've heard would be best
their videos for "Life Is Life" and their "Sympathy for the Devil" cover are worth checking if you haven't, in addition to the ones from their Sound of Music record
also check the videos Killing Joke has for Night Time |
Sharenge
01.07.26 | okay I'ma go with Laibach - WAT think that one's my most recent discovery from them which I was fairly impressed with |
Sharenge
01.07.26 | I guess they diverge a bit from the "rock" specification but are associated with industrial and dark wave and shit like that which I feel like is gothic-adjacent |
Hawks
01.07.26 | All added bros! |
heck
01.07.26 | The Sound - From the Lions Mouth |
arthropod
01.07.26 | Wait. You don't know Aégis?
Seems there's a particularly great listen waiting along the way. And the Shakespearean English lyrics are a fine icing on the cake. |
Hawks
01.07.26 | Velvet Darkness They Fear is the only TOT that I've ever heard. |
heck
01.07.26 | oh man you're in for a good time with Aegis then |
Hawks
01.07.26 | Can't wait to hear it!! |
XfingTheSullen
01.08.26 | yeah aegis is absolute peak
angelique and aoede are ear worms like no other |
Voivod
01.08.26 | The debut Final Gasp album.
The band will release a new album in 2026. |
Hawks
01.08.26 | Added buddy!! |
gabba
01.08.26 | That Virgin Prunes album is so good, had to jam it all day long. Great rec! |
arthropod
01.14.26 | found something you might like lol
https://youtu.be/QM6E-wO3z9c?si=sKIp3jOQDKmFmQzg |
Hawks
01.14.26 | SICK!! |
Hawks
01.21.26 | Getting back on this horse today HARD. M//// |
troyofyort
01.21.26 | Damn I got beat to the punch for recommending The Cult |
Hawks
01.21.26 | You can rec something else if you want!! :] |
DominionMM1
01.21.26 | marilyn manson- portrait of an american family |
Hawks
01.21.26 | Adding! |
heck
01.22.26 | Manson is nowhere near goth lmao |
Hawks
01.22.26 | Frigg it, I'll jam anyways hahahaha. |
heck
01.22.26 | just a baffling recommendation. if you went to a goth club and said Manson was goth you'd be chased out lmao |
Hawks
01.22.26 | LMAOOOOOO I've never considered him goth either. |
gabba
01.22.26 | I don’t think Manson would be chased away from the annual Gothik-Treffen in Leipzig. His music has goth elements (in traces) as well. |
DominionMM1
01.22.26 | i mean goth is one of the listed subgenres on the manson page here. plus all the goth kids i knew way back when were definitely into their music. |
