Tinderbox is a much less abrasive album, but what it loses in shock value, it gains in quality songwriting, infectious melodies, and top-tier guitar work, especially in the genre. Still not very dark but the songs are a bit more elaborate and varied (take Red Stars, Kill the Lights and Science, they're like night and two days). And it contains Looking Glass, which is their best song. Pins and Needles is darker but also more stale of an album. Still, worth a shot. If you're looking for darker stuff, it's mostly the matter of the song. Pins & Needles, Sleep Tonight, Whisper and Over should fill the bill.

heck 12.25.25	I love The Birthday Massacre but I'm not sure they were an appropriate recommendation for a goth list. I don't know anybody in the goth scene who would consider them goth music. they lack the punk/post-punk roots that make goth music goth. they're more industrial rock than anything.
