11.28.25 | My collection is very small atm, but I want to start expanding. List is the vinyls that I have so far. Where do you guys usually get yours from? |
Get Low
11.28.25 | The Exchange, if you have one near you. |
Hawks
11.28.25 | I actually do have one near me. A lot of variety? |
Get Low
11.28.25 | Yeah they have a shitload of shit, and even if they don't have what you're looking for in store, they usually have it in another store and can get it transferred to your store quickly (they're a regional midwest and PA company). |
Get Low
11.28.25 | Check the website too they keep it updated with everything they have in every store. |
Hawks
11.28.25 | That's awesome, thanks bro! Probably gonna go this weekend at some point. There's one about 10 minutes from my house. |
Get Low
11.28.25 | You're gonna love it. It's also a great spot to pick up retro games and movies. They're pretty fair with in-store credit when you trade stuff in as well, much fairer than places like Gamestop. |
Hawks
11.28.25 | Can't wait to check it out. My wife has been there before, but I never have. |
arthropod
11.28.25 | I'll take a look if I ever go to the U.S. |
Hawks
11.28.25 | Hell yeah. |

11.28.25 | discogs |
Hawks
11.28.25 | I do have to check that site for sure. |

11.28.25 | Yep discogs |
Hawks
11.28.25 | Just looked around on there a bit, seems awesome. |

11.28.25 | Discogs is good, though I use it mainly for research when writing reviews. Suitable for checking album photos, track listings and credits. |
Hawks
11.28.25 | Thats not a bad idea either tbh. |

11.28.25 | Wax trax in Denver |
Hawks
11.28.25 | I wish that wasn't on the other side of the country lol. |

11.28.25 | If your going for metal/hardcore/etc: usually direct from the label or a bands bandcamp, hard to find them second hand for cheaper usually expect like 25-45 for any of them. If it's a fairly obscure band you can get lucky for like 10 bux at discogs. Second hand stores are great and half of my collection is from exchanges/other local record stores: just don't expect to find like a bdm record, some random black metal/screamo/doom. Check the exchanges CD metal selection cause usually they'll actually have some gems. For whatever reason the only rap records I've found locally are the common mainstream stuff you'd find at target/bestbuy, mostly Kendrick/drake/tyler/em/stuff of that popularity. I assume the boombap/90s stuff just gets snatched up quick whenever it gets traded in |

11.28.25 | You're the man, thanks for the insight bro! |

11.28.25 | I just went to a store called Hard Wax in Berlin, and it's basically heaven if you like electronic music. Highly specialized, with a catalogue full of things you won't find anywhere else. Also, Rush Hour in Amsterdam was fantastic, more varied, but within a similar spectrum. They have a record label, so there are store-exclusive releases. 2nd Avenue Records in Portland is legendary, but mostly focused on heavier stuff. Cactus Records in Houston and Waterloo Records in Austin were pretty damn good, too. |
Hawks
11.28.25 | Thats so awesome. I need to start finding stuff around me so I can browse. |
Faraudo
11.28.25 | If you live in the US, then Discogs is probably the way to go. |

11.28.25 | Philly had plenty of record stores to choose from when I was still living in that area, if you not trying to order online... would imagine most big cities has... think the ones I remember frequenting the most were uh... probs Repo Records, Long in the Tooth and uhh there was another one Creep Records which was half record store, half headshop
round here... think there's three record stores that I know of - Tom's Music, Mothership and Iko's... York Emporium was always worth a browse as well... been sold, moved and rebranded, but think they still have a record section
don't has moneys though so rarely visit any of them... get like 1 LP a year these days and still haven't placed my order for what will likely be this year's purchase (Boris - Dronevil repress is what I've had my eyes on) |
Faraudo
11.28.25 | "Thats so awesome. I need to start finding stuff around me so I can browse."
Its probably my favorite thing to do lol. Whenever I travel, I look for record stores and that's how I start touring most cities and doing sightseeing
|
Hawks
11.28.25 | I don't travel much at all, but I do know there are some sweet spots to look into in my general area lol. Definitely wanna start buying a lot more records. |
Faraudo
11.28.25 | That's one of the best ways to support the scene, in my opinion. And to keep retail alive. Obviously getting stuff (in this case, records) from Amazon tends to be cheaper and easier, but going to record stores is for the love of the craft, and surfing through thousands upon thousands of records, and stumbling upon something you've been hunting for years is quite the feeling. |
widowslaugh123
11.28.25 | If you ever are in California go to one of the amoeba stores I recommend the San Francisco one and since you’re in SF (hypothetically) you might as well hop over to Berkeley and hit up up Rasputin |
unclereich
11.28.25 | when you get an idea of what press you're specifically looking for-usually thru discogs-ebay becomes your friend. i don't buy a lot of new records and when i do i hit up local shops |
BAT
11.28.25 | Yeee on Amazon if your going for something past ten years or so it's usually solid prices, buuut they have like no shipping precautions usually just ends up in like a box flopping around or one of those white/blue prime mailers. Labels use mailers specifically for vinyl so it's got a bit more damage control, but if your worried about like scruffed jacket edges/creases Amazon is hit/miss and that applies to all 'physical media's stuff like CDs/Blu-ray/etc, their return policy is pretty solid tho but yeah expect occasional dings. Haven't had any problems with warps yet thoo |
Sharenge
11.28.25 | hmmm might have to take the hit and order that Boris repress today looks like a few dollars off - that'll be straight from Relapse |
BAT
11.28.25 | And on the topic of relapse: death is an affordable band to get on vinyl they repress their discog every like 3 years soo I'm sure you could get most of them for like 15 bucks if you look hard enough....except for symbolic which is on another label(roadrunner?), the vinyl for that's pretty much a collectors item with few presses(can probably find a bootleg for like 70 tho) [[edit apparently there's copies on discogs going for like 30-50 so guess they finally repressed it for its 30th anniversary] |
Hawks
11.28.25 | I got the first two here on Amazon. Veilburner is coming from Bandcamp and I found the other two on Walmart's website actually lol.
Thanks for all the comments bros, I appreciate it!! |

11.28.25 | I've imported vinyl from hells headbangers as they always had a good selection of shit |
Hawks
11.28.25 | Ohhhh I'll have to check that out tonight. |
Sharenge
11.28.25 | my biggest import was the stuff I got from Justin Broadrick's personal vaults back closer to when he launched his store/website back in 2020... came with smells and everything
(jesu - Christmas and Pale Sketcher - jesu: Pale Sketches Demixed were the out-of-print selections I chose from what he had stowed away in storage - pretty sure I ordered some new pressings from there as well at a later date... GODFLESH boxset, jesu S/T deluxe repress)
looks like his webstore site is down atm... RIP
but yeah, Justin Broadrick is an artist I got enough love for to have his shit shipped across the Atlantic
also ordered a cool Boris trinket from Japan once |

11.28.25 | Friggin sweet bro! |

11.29.25 | Discogs is good. Idk where to find metal albums since all of mine are basically dubstep lol
But for cds I go to Zion's Gate in Seattle. Super awesome dudes run it and every relatively obscure cd I buy from there they already know what it is and have an opinion lol I think they have an online store too, might be worth checking out. Loads of metal vinyl and other genres too! |
Aids
11.29.25 | not trying to doxx you but do you live in a city? maybe I'm just a boomer but I still think that supporting your local independent record stores is the best way to engage with music. I have four or five amazing record stores in my city that I like to go to. They will also order stuff in for you if they don't have it. Shit has gotten crazy expensive but I still think supporting brick and mortar music stores is good. I will really miss them when they've all been turned into townhouses or chipotles or whatever. |
Aids
11.29.25 | even for genre stuff that more mainstream oriented stores don't carry by default, there are a lot of stores that will order whatever random artist you want. obviously you can do that yourself but I feel like requesting it in person is good bc maybe the store owner sees that and decides to order a few more copies for their shelves, can sometimes snowball. also the owners/buyers for these places are generally pretty interesting people to interact with. or they're assholes! that's also fun. |
Hawks
11.29.25 | I live about 20 minutes outside of Pittsburgh bro. I know of a few places that I can shop around, but I'd have to do more research on it tbh to see what else is around too. |

11.29.25 | wow doxx'd
go pirates though |
Hawks
11.29.25 | The Pirates fucking SUCK, but I love Paul Skenes. |
Aids
11.29.25 | yeah but Pirates is a good name for a sports team, and the arena has a pretty cool backdrop view
I am a Blue Jays fan (I don't wanna talk about it) and they just overpaid for some pitcher from the Pirates.
Mostly just fuck the steelers. Penguins have Silovs now so maybe it's Penguins actually. Also a good name for a sports team. |
Hawks
11.29.25 | Hey, don't you talk about my Steelers that way!!! But yeah, been to PNC Park many times and it is gorgeous. |

11.30.25 | Bandcamp honestly has a good selection and you typically get the digital download with your purchase.
Discogs is great for archiving and finding tons of out of print stuff, not just for vinyl but all forms of music media
Amazon if you're looking for more mainstream stuff. They typically have had some great prices in the past
Nationally I suggest: Technique Records (Miami), Sweat Records (Miami), Human Head (NY), Gramaphone (Chicago)
I would also suggest checking your fav labels for Black Friday/Cyber Monday deals. I'm sure plenty are selling vinyl |
Hawks
11.30.25 | You are the friggin man Jr!! |
Hawks
11.30.25 | Added one more to the collection. :] |

12.01.25 | Just wanted to brag and say that i have all the commercially available COF albums on vinyl and mounted on my wall. Artwork and sound quality on all are fantastic. Unfortuantely, Dusk (original), Cruelty (original), Midian, Nymp, Thorn, and Godspeed are very rare and too pricey for me. I got them all online from various sources. |
Solipsist
12.01.25 | The inner artwork on the last 4 COF vinyls is worth the price alone. Lots of boobs lol |
Hawks
12.01.25 | I've looked into some Cradle vinyls, but all the ones I found were super expensive also lol. |
Hawks
12.12.25 | Bought a couple more. Trying to grow this collection HARD. |
