Oftentimes it's deliberately mislabeled ibérico de cebo, which is a fundamentally different product. Due to the time-consuming nature of production and the strict standards of ibérico de bellota, only very small batches are produced each year. Roughly 98% of what little gets made is sold on a local/national level, so Costco would need some really deep connections to local producers to get their hands on even just a sample-sized amount imo. Doubt it was authentic.

budgie 04.28.25	@nex i don't think it was fake. the brand was fermin. i just do not think that air cured ham presents well after traveling 8000 kilometers on a boat in a vacuum pack. was kinda, almost soggy. humidity problems for sure, at minimum. also i bet they don't send the best products in export
