| Sunn O))) ra)))nke)))d
Lately I felt I needed more dro)))ne in my life. | | 10 | | Sunn O))) White1
This is the only bad album in the discography, a failed experiment.
Highlight(s): none, the whole album stinks | | 9 | | Sunn O))) Kannon
The complete opposite of Pyroclasts. Way too rigid and flat.
Highlight(s): none, very samey album | | 8 | | Sunn O))) White2
An okayish effort.
Highlight(s): Hell-O))) - Ween | | 7 | | Sunn O))) Life Metal
Not gonna lie: this still feels like a demo before Pyroclasts.
Highlight(s): Troubled Air | | 6 | | Sunn O))) Oracle
The aftershocks after Black One.
Highlight(s): BelülrÅ‘l PusztÃt, Helio)))sophist | | 5 | | Sunn O))) ØØ Void
This is an oddly relaxing album for me. During long travels, I used to fell asleep while listening to this.
Highlight(s): Richard, Rabbits' Revenge | | 4 | | Sunn O))) Flight of the Behemoth
Indeed a Behemo)))th, having Merzbow on their side was an excellent idea.
Highlight(s): Death Becomes You, F.W.T.B.T. (I Dream of Lars Ulrich Being Thrown the Bus Window Instead of My Master Mystikal Kliff Burton) | | 3 | | Sunn O))) Pyroclasts
Sunn O))) works the best if their songs doesn't have "rigid" structures. This album is the best example. Airy, yet massively heavy.
Highlight(s): Frost (C), Ascension (A) | | 2 | | Sunn O))) Black One
This is truly THE Black One. Incredibly massive and haunting album, a unique experience.
Highlight(s): It Took the Night to Believe, Orthodox Caveman | | 1 | | Sunn O))) Monoliths and Dimensions
Various soundscapes of horror, mystery or even idyll. The absolute pinnacle of the discography, an avant-garde masterpiece. (And the very best of Attila Csihar.)
Highlight(s): Alice, Big Church [megszentségtelenÃthetetlenségeskedéseitekért] | |

04.03.25 | 1 & 2 are pretty much overshadowing the rest, but damn, this discography is such a treat! | artificialbox
04.03.25 | great timing, I was just thinking about getting more into this band cause I want more drone in my life too. i’m only vaguely familiar with 3 and 7 so I’ll check your top 2 asap. | ThyCrossAwaits
04.03.25 | if you can't get caught up in the thrall of My Wall then I feel bad for you, son
I actually legitimately painted Sunn O))) on a literal wall of my high school as inspired by that track lol, I wish I still had a photo of it | garas
04.03.25 | >if you can't get caught up in the thrall of My Wall then I feel bad for you, son
Ouch. But I prefer less talking and more haunting! Attila's performances on 1 & 2 are the real deals for me.
> I actually legitimately painted Sunn O))) on a literal wall of my high school as inspired by that track lol
AND THIS IS SOMETHING! That's so cool! I also wish you could show the photo - you could have shared with the band as well, I'm sure they'd love it too! | garas
04.03.25 | >I want more drone in my life too
🖤
I hope you'll enjoy the rest of their discog! | Veldin
04.03.25 | I’ve only heard their collab with Scott Walker, but I really enjoy it | ThyCrossAwaits
04.04.25 | For anyone who hasn't heard it, 1 is one of the greatest records ever made by anyone; a true 5.0 album. | rage11111ro
04.04.25 | Excelent list, I love 1 and 2 | Colliiiin
04.04.25 | Nice list. 1 and 2 are indisputably the best. I would have 8 higher tho, that album has a great/spooky atmosphere.
Also, Domkirke is their third best release imo (excluding collabs) | garas
04.07.25 | > Also, Domkirke is their third best release imo
I also love that, but since it's officially a live album I couldn't add it to the list :| | garas
04.07.25 | The Agharthi 09-10 is also a super live recording -- if anyone is interested. | Pho3nix
04.19.25 | 'Been to long since I even listened to this band... need to give Monoliths and Dimensions & Life Metal some attention once again! |
