complex and wild albums
digging up some of the wildest bands I know for this one. It's not many but i'll still make a little list. recommends are welcome. |
| 1 | | Yowie Damning With Faint Praise
Extremely complex with constantly changing and complex sound structures. It feels insane to listen to, but there's a reason the band takes 3-5 years to make an album. |
| 2 | | Ruins Hyderomastgroningem
This seems to be at a perfect balance of their noise rock roots and their more prog rock later albums. Really wacky album with made up lyrics and complex song structures. |
| 3 | | Bisbaye Gestalt
This band is far more complex than wild, preferring a more serious band image. The constant ping ponging effects they do make it very disorienting to listen to. But when you get used to it do it's easier to appreciate. |
| 4 | | Ages Gone Ages Gone
A band that called themselves "free death", focuses more on breaking death metal norms, and even has a synthesizer without any black metal influences. The German band only lasted a couple years, but came out with a demo and a studio album. Very wacky and strange. |
| 5 | | Begnagrad Begnagrad
A band formed in former yugoslavia, these guys took folk music and put it in a blender. Very strange song structures and at one point downright uncomfortable. Fun fact: this was released on the country's official label, meaning that this passed communist censors and was sold wildly to the locals. |
| 6 | | Ruins Alone
I'm going to call this a separate release of the band, as some call the project Ruins Alone and some just Ruins. Tatsuya Yoshida (the drummer and mastermind of the band) takes things to a whole nother level as he fails to find another suitable bassist. So instead he makes complex and wild midi beats and plays drums over it. It's like nothing else the band has done before and it's absolutely crazy. |
| 7 | | Altered States Mosaic
I haven't listened to this album for a while, but I remember it being fascinating. A band known for jazz fusion makes an absolutely wild album, focusing on being noisy and strange song structures. Then they go back to making jazz fusion as if nothing happened. As fate has it, this is the only album that the band is remembered for. |
| 8 | | Tipographica God Says I Can't Dance
Last album on this list is Tipographica. The band evolves from its avant - garde jazz roots into full avant prog. Everything kind of just falls into place, and they can make really effective melodic moments. Most of the time they use the payoff/climax song structure, to varying degrees of success. But I say its worth it. Pretty wacky album with an interesting lineup. |
