this record may not top MTD for me, but you can't deny those bass drops and sludgy slam riffs. the slams feel more fleshed out, with even more groove injected into their breakdowns. but the songwriting takes a hit, with a lot of it being lost in the filthy production. sure, MTD was the same, but not as much as this. a must for early Devourment fans.
Digested Flesh The Answer to Infection
Digested Flesh Macerate the Soul
ignoring the useless live tracks, DF have returned with top notch songwriting and much faster song structures. each slam is surgically implanted among Cryptopsy inspired riffing, and the whole drumkit is beaten to death. this band never fails to impress.
Disgorge (Mex) Gore Blessed to the Worms
yeah surprised to hear that this is a real perfection of their sound, and the best way they could have gone out. the clean production of Necroholocaust, the speed and insanity of Forensick, with the variety of Chronic Corpora Infest. easy 4.5.

this album is such a strange mix of dissonance, goregrind, and math rock that still manages
to be a solid album. especially since nik's first album in this project was much more
straightforward goregrind/BDM. worth a listen if you can get over strange and dissonant
riffs. also a plus that nik buried his vocals more in the mix, glad he learned from his
first album.

this has quickly become my go to dungeon synth album. the balance between melody and sound texture is so well done that the runtime is well worth it. it's also not stagnant in its atmosphere, trading between solemn and more contemplative tracks. if you like early Secret Stairways its like that but more of it and better.

wacky thrashcore with pretty funny lyrics. very high energy with great melodic riffs, with
the production pretty average for a hardcore record at the time. there's a few duds here and

things out (Masterpiece).

The thing I like Ruins most for is their wild
stop-and-go type of style. They go from fairly
confusing shouting and shrill vocals and
follow it up with some of the most complex
bass solos that are among my favorite solos
ever. I personally feel that
Hyderomastgroningem is 90's Ruins at their
best. Confusing, intense, complex, and fast.
Some of the stuff that the bassist, Ryuichi
Masuda, does with his pedals and playing style
makes the entire album never feel old, even
though it being a hour and seven minutes. It's
music thats hard to get into, but if you
already are into zeuhl you might as well check
it out.

Torsofuck Erotic Diarrhea Fantasy
honestly this is pretty decent BDM/slam, the opening sample sucks but other than that its rnot that bad. the production could have made the guitars have more punch (which is a rnoticeable problem), but that's the only real complaint. i'm not sure why people who don't rlisten to dm/grind listen to this and bring the rating down.
Torsofuck Feasting on Carved Remains
this sounds like a raw black metal demo from the early 90s. the real drummer sounds
fantastic, but the guitars are almost too drowned out. slams and riffs are solid, and the
drums make up for the guitars a lot more than you would think. basically clean up the
production a bit more and more people will start respecting them. hopefully their new
material will be like this but not as raw.
Torture 4 - "Enduring Freedom"
Toughness Black Respite of Oblivion
Another top tier tech death album from this month. rI love the production on this album. While a lot of brutal death metal focuses on making the rproduction overwhelming, the more stripped back production here helps makes things feel rfresh. The band wears its influences more directly (that i can identify) but can still hold rmore than a candle to classics in their niche. Also, I love that the vocals are more direct. rPersonal taste, but it adds to how much I love the album in the end. The riffs are weird and rmemorable, with just enough brutality to tie things together.rThe prog elements are woven very well into the brutality, creating an excellent and rmemorable contrast. These dudes look pretty young but jesus they know their stuff. My rfavorite DM album of this year so far. Go listen to it.

Viper the Rapper You'll Cowards Don't Even Smoke Crack
i'm no expert in hip hop, but i will say that viper's flow is pretty nice. his overly rbraggadocious lyrics are pretty funny at times, and its interesting how juxtaposed the rsubject matter is compared to viper's delivery and the low fi beats. for the beats, its a rlittle bit mixed. some are decent, some have a great flow to them, and one (i'm already rich r4 life) is head scratching. its strange feeling relaxed when viper's on about capping rsomeone in the head for touching his joints. tracks 10-15 are bangers back to back.

AE dare to ask the question: how many slam
riffs can you stuff into a song? the demo like
recording along with the 'barely playing on
time' vibe gives this a strange charm. a lot
of the samples are actually not too bad and
the slams are pretty good. hearing the
guitarist try doing anything other than a slam
riff is pretty amusing. it may be a blatant
devourment clone but the arguable incompetence
makes it worth listening to.

overall, not a bad first album. its above average brutal death metal that's held back by a bad production. everything truly feels flat and nothing sticks out enough to really get you in the groove. there's great riffs all over this thing and its a shame that its held back so much. the bass is very punchy and is pretty audible usually, which is a great touch. that being said, it's still pretty good.

Torsofuck Postpartum Exstasy
this has my favorite production of all brutal death metal. the guitars are ultra crunchy, and everything else is clearly audible. other than the bass since this is death metal. the riffs and slams are some of their best yet. but the samples get a lot worse, with a emphasis on shock value rather than making it tolerable. there's more 1+ minute samples while their debut only had three. an album with a lot of pro's and con's, that's for sure.
Torsofuck / Lymphatic Phlegm Disgusting Gore And Pathology / Polymorphisms To..
the production on torsofuck's side is way better than what would go on their debut, and my first impressions of lymphatic phlem is that they're interesting. clean reverbed guitar that's half groovy and half grind. not a bad split. Miko's vocals are still absolutely revolting, do not listen while eating.
Torture (USA-IL) War Crime 2: Genocide Protocol, Act II: Exodus
VampireCunt Wigganometry
Viper the Rapper Hiram Clarke Hustler
a lot more hit or miss than something like You'll Cowards. The beats range from good to kind
of bad. the mixing is pretty scuffed, with the bass drowning out viper at times. the prime
example of this is the remix for I'm a Snake in the Grass. basically, for every Hey, Maybe
One Day You'll See Me Again, you have a You Got Yo Gat. he also experiments with pitch
shifted vocals, which only works in Quick Blast.
Vomit Remnants Hyper Groove Brutality
not a bad comeback album. the ultra thick guitar production actually helps, making the heavy riffs sludgy. this is also the best drum machine work i've ever heard, from it going from hyperblasting to something a bit groovier. vocals are more Waking the Cadaver style of deathcore, which I like. It does meld together into a thick soup after a while, but still enjoyable.

Disgorge (Mex) Necrholocaust
want to hear Disgorge with weaker songwriting and a clean production? here it is. some things have stepped up, namely Antimo Buonnano's vocals. he switches from low gutturals to some black metal rasps here and there. There's good riffs on every track but a lot of them are mediocre. Guillermo Garfias's drumming is still so great that i really wish it was more in the mix like on Forensick.

the first two songs are decent but have weak slams. the real flat production is also really apparent here. but the last two tracks are damn good. Last Torture... and High Level Cannibalistic Violence have solid riffs and great slams that make the production not that big of an issue. it's a lot more straightforward slam/bdm (no grind here, sorry), but it somewhat makes up for it. if you're lacking in torsofuck material this is worth your time.

okay, i'm not gonna get into hyperbole. These guys are clearly competent at what they do,
which happens to be radio dad rock. When it gets bad is when they shoehorn in old video game
stuff, with varying degrees of success. Sometimes its really bad (super sonic boom),
surprisingly decent (Mighty Wings & Hadoukens), or just a really basic cover with video
games stapled to it (Nintendo Power of Love). there's a few riffs that flirt with metal that
I can get along with, and an entire section in Hearts on Fire that's actually pretty good.

But if they're gonna blow a ton of cash on a 55 minute music video done in one take it's
gotta be way better than this. They need to drop the video game bullshit and amp up their
songwriting chops. If they evolve from this they may actually go places.
Six Feet Under Graveyard Classics IV: The Number Of The Priest
Slaughter To Prevail Grizzly
expected to hate this, but the snare tone is on point and there's good riffs and breakdowns. it just has a serious identity crisis and throws everything at the wall. that being said most of said things are very annoying (looking at you, song 3). instrumentals are pretty fine but the awful vocals and lyrics drag things down even more. could be a lot worse but still sucks. there's better meathead music out there.
Suicide Silence Suicide Silence
this is just deathcore stuffed to the brim with metalcore tropes. you have the somewhat aggravating metalcore vocal changes, slow 'introspective' songs, yet all manages to be dreadfully boring. all with a production that makes this serve as great background music. also, you can't forget all of the deathcore tropes that you all know and love.
Take Back the Roman Empire Entschuldigen sie mein deathinteresse
i have zero idea what to rate this. it's not average, since i know i'll never hear death metal like this. its not a 3, since very rarely are the crazy concepts mixed well. so i'll give it a 2.0 for it being mostly annoying to me. still huge respect for the guys behind it for even thinking of this.
